  1. The wind Has been blowing in > in every game these teams have played in wrigley this year, and is supposed to blow in all weekend. 1-5 record this year so far, soon to be 1-6. Then last year, early I remember it blowing in all 4 games and we got swept. So that’s at least a loss in 9 of 10 not including this one. If that isn’t a slap to the face to this front office it needs an offensive re-tool, I don’t know what is?
  2. Our lineup is worse. Yelich is just ok vs LHP, I know Pina doing good vs lefties this year, but, that bottom of our lineup is beyond gross, and compounding the problem is Anderson, the worst hitting pitcher I’ve ever seen. Braun and Hiura need to rake.
  3. Barker and Bickford are not on the 40 man roster and I don't see them making the move. The Brewers already have to dump 2 guys to fit Nelson and Suter back on. Wilkerson would be a prime candidate to be dropped, so I don't see him coming up either. Yes, your correct with both not rostered. Bickford I already accounted for, Barker I did not, so no Barker.
  4. Better be wearing helmets in the outfield seats. Last thing we need are a bunch of articles flooding the internet about how MLB is going to "umpire" home runs if they have to put netting above all the outfield walls to protect the customers who aren't paying attention. Or, maybe they “fixed” him in maryvale.
  5. No way I see that happening, not with our pathetic offense vs LHP(Maybe Braun can get homer happy in tonight’s or Saturday’s game?). Realistically hoping for 2 but expecting 1.
  6. September (1): 1.) Freitas 2.) Peralta 3.) Suter 4.) Nelson 5.) Shaw 6.) Gamel 7.) Wilkerson 8.) Burnes September (4): 9.) Faria 10.) Barker 11.) Nottingham 12.) Taylor 13.) Bickford DFAd > Saladino T. Williams Stokes September record > 19-8
  7. Nelson with a bad outing in last nights game: 1 ip 2 h 2 r 1 bb 2 ks 26 pitches 14 for strikes > not good. Command of his pitches has to be the issue, stuff has to be good, striking out lots of batters, maybe, starts out pitching low leverage situations only, for the crew?
  8. There is validity in this point. The counter-point is that if the Brewers plan on not protecting him, it would behoove them to not let other teams get a look at him. Given that the Brewers didn't send Bickford to the AFL, despite missing all of April and May, leads me to believe that there is a good chance that they will not protect him. That’s surprising, assumed with his ridiculous pitching of late he’d be rostered. Hard to believe he wouldn’t be claimed.
  9. Exactly my thinking too. He’s gonna have to be added anyhow.
  10. Yes, outrageous home field advantage. But more than the white roof, imo, was the noise. They measured the noise on the field periodically thru-out the series in the metro dome and it hit 130 decibels, comparable to standing next to a jet engine at take-off. It was so loud the players wore ear plugs. Now those are real homefield advantages.
  11. The Dodgers are lighting about $50 million on fire right now with Pollock, Hill, Bailey, part of Kemp, and all of their prospects like Olivera from a few years ago. Friedman is playing this smarter than the last regime, but they're going to have some other dead money soon. The Astros hit the jackpot in building with young talent and Verlander turning out well, but they could be burning $70 million on Verlander/Greinke if either of those guys fall off a cliff. Boston won a World Series with about $40 million lit on fire last year. The Yankees have Ellsbury and Stanton could easily turn into an albatross if he doesn't actually play in games. Plus tons of other injured guys making $5+ million. The Cubs are lighting endless amounts on fire. I love how every team you mention is in a different stratosphere than us financially.
  12. You make a lot of good points about the reinforcements we have coming up, but when you say stuff like our staff can compete with Wash or NYM...you lose credibility. We don't have 1 pitcher that's better than the top 2 starters for the Mets. We have one injured pitcher...that would slot into their rotation if healthy, the other 4 wouldn't make their top 5. As a team, we can compete with those teams. But our staffs are not indisputably better. If we make the playoffs, it will be a team effort led primarily by an offensive breakout. Scoring 4+ runs every game and the pitching doing enough...for the most part. Mets and Nats rotation’s are superior to ours, but our September bullpen destroys either of theirs. Nats are a better offense, but not the Mets. Mets have come back to earth.
  13. Agree, if they don’t get in, it’ll be the offense and not the pitching.
  14. Wow, Woodruff to not throw another pitch until 2020. Is there something you know that Stearns doesn’t know?. Stearns just said Woody will be back, just not stretched out. Some you are seriously discounting the boost this bullpen will have soon from pitchers in AAA that are pitching lights out > Suter, or really well > Nelson Peralta. Guerra throwing his splitter is big, Hader with the slider, Pomeranz has looked really good. That’s 6 pen arms, imo, on the upswing not including Claudio Albers Jeffress Jackson. And I won’t be shocked to see burnes added next week either. This is not the first 5 months bullpen.
  15. Yes, hopeful for sure. How many NL contenders vying for the wild card or central have as many arms on the way as we do? I would argue none. Peralta Suter Nelson will help big time, Freitas to give some rest for Grandal is big. Spangenberg has already added a spark with his speed and hustle, Guerra and his splitter, Jackson and his slider vs select RHH, Pomeranz’s experience, Hader and his slider, then Woodruff for the last couple weeks, with a possible rejuvenated Burnes, how can one not get excited. Add all that to a team that knows September is their time to shine, and chomping at the bit to get hot anyhow, wild card probable, division still possible, imo. Most teams actually do - most other contenders actually have much better arms already on the 25 man roster and arent desperate to find even league average options on the back end of their 40 mam roster to log meaningful september innings. Disagree, I’ll take the crew’s September staff over the Nats, Phil’s, Mets, Cards, Cubbies. Provided Houser is ok to start and Woodruff is back the second half of September. Oh, forgot about a well rested Jeffress earlier, sorry your so down on this team, but the pitching is looking up, way up. Just hoping the offense with the Freitas added can hit better with RISP.
  16. It’s called levity. Or just using silly humor to express my, what I think, should be obvious to everyone, Grandal needs to rest theory.

  18. 34 next year. 35 the following year. 36 his last year. How ugly does that look? What are position player prime years? 25-29? 26-30? Now he has a thumb injury that could possibly affect him moving forward. Is it really any wonder why he’s regressing offensively? Abysmal, granted is a strong word, but his 74 ops+ coupled with his being the 2nd worst hitter with RISP, is why I used that word to describe his offense this year. I suppose he could rebound a little offensively, but at 34, what if the Speed and D starts a decline?
  19. .530 is not his on base, it’s his batting average vs LHP. Instead of Perez being brought back, it should have been Freitas, imo. For 2 reasons: 1.) our lineup vs LHP would have been bolstered. 2.) Grandal would have gotten rest this last month+, his power has virtually disappeared the last couple months, gee, I wonder why?! Arcia could have just played in all the games, Perez adds nothing to this team except for pitching in blowouts. Grandal has almost a .400 OBP, IN THE MAJORS, over the past 28 days... also roughly a month. DO. YOUR. HOMEWORK. Testament to his superior eye at the plate, BB’s up, swinging takes energy, probably resting when he can.
  20. Perez stinks. That’s not an opinion, since he wasn’t claimed when DFA’d. My priority is to HELP the lineup vs LHP. Perez does nothing there, does he? You completely ignore my 2nd reason to have brought up The Freitas. Any rabid brewer fan knows how much Grandal has played this year, when he’s not C, he’s at 1B vs LHP. 19 home runs hit before the first week of July, 2 since. Come on, you know as well as I, the highly probable cause. And as far as your comment of me trying to fix a problem that doesn’t need fixed. I would argue this team vs LHP is THE #1 WEAKNESS OF THIS TEAM. How did you feel about our chances this last couple months when you saw we were facing a lefty?
  21. The beauty of this Lyles becoming a solid starter before our eyes, is that Stearns predicted this before anyone else did. So I trust he’ll know what to do with Lyles moving forward. Trade deadline deals looking better every 5 days, and Pomeranz is looking like he’s gonna really help the pen these last 29 games, and maybe Black will too. But Stearns is an idiot isn't he? Stearns let the guy go rather than pay the whatever it was 3ish mil to keep him but now he's gonna give him 6 mil per year based on 6 starts. You can keep pounding this all you want but it's almost for sure not going to happen and Lyles is very unlikely to be a sub 4 ERA starting P if he pitches the whole year. The evidence is based on 900 innings of pitching that's resulted in a 5.2 ERA. Even in his current breakout year that warrants a multi year extension he has a 4.5 ERA with nothing special on peripherals. I’ve NEVER said Stearns was an idiot. After getting over my anger at some of his in-season roster decisions, I’ve already stated, I’ve changed my mind about wanting Stearns fired. Like I said in my last post, I trust Stearns will know what to do with Lyles moving forward.

  24. No, he’s already 30 years old, so that would be foolish. The beauty of the Freitas is the control and min. Salary. I think your being ridiculous with the 35 hr in September prediction, he’s not a hr hitter, so that would be virtually impossible to do.
