  1. 2 years at 11 mil. With a 3rd year team option at 7 mil. 1 mil. Buyout. This is the offer before he hits free agency. Preferably now. If he’s the pitcher he’s been all along with the crew we got a steal. If not he’s a well paid arm in the pen.
  2. There would be NO reason to call-up Freitas just to sit the bench. Do you actually believe if the Brewers thought he could help he would still be in the minors? With Grandal catching and Pina doing well as the backup, Freitas would be a 3rd catcher and play very little if at all. The Brewers believe that it's better to leave Freitas in the minors and playing than sitting the bench in the big leagues. IF Grandal or Pina got hurt, of course Freitas or Nottingham would be brought up. How bout a .530 hitter vs LHP That plays 1B to finally get Grandal some rest? Our lineup vs LHP gets stronger with Freitas in the lineup. That’s 3 good reasons to get him up ASAP. Stearns not getting him up earlier has been my #1 complaint on this front office this year. I know he didn’t want to lose Pina, but, imo, as bad as this team was all year vs LHP, he should have made room, maybe keeping Perez down.
  3. If he's trending poorly in the next couple years and we have a chance to get rid of that problem with minimal or no incentive added now, why wouldn't we do that before it becomes a problem for us? Exactly. Trending poorly, well past prime, if we pay down 9 mil. It’s worth getting out from under that contract, he’s abysmal offensively, what happens another year older if his defense starts to regress? 15 million a year saved can be used in other area’s.
  4. Thank you for your reasonable take. 3 at 12, 3 at 15, Get the best 3 year deal we can. Like I already said earlier, if starting doesn’t work out he’s a good proven pen arm.
  5. I know Chacin is an easy target this year but please go look at his career compared to Lyles and try again. Do your homework a bit before posting sometimes. Lyles 3/$18mil That is the worst proposed deal I have seen since Clancy wanted to sign Hernan Pérez to a big extension. If he keeps this up, it gonna be 2 years at 18. 6 million a year for a FA starting pitcher that could be a #3 or strong 4 is sorta robbery isn’t it?
  6. I know Chacin is an easy target this year but please go look at his career compared to Lyles and try again. Do your homework a bit before posting sometimes. It’s got nothing to do with homework. Lyles was really good out of the pen for us after he came over last year. Pitched well for Pittsburgh, then not so well, Stearns wanted him back, see that’s the key for me, because he obviously sees something special in him. Then from the get go, he’s been beyond good. Sorry I’m the only one sold here.
  7. That might be going a bit overboard. I’d only do extensions for the following players: 1.) Hiura > 8 years(till age 30) 6 full years of his prime. 2.) Grisham > 8 years(till age 30) 6 full years of his prime. 3.) Lyles > 3 years(till age 31) 1 year of his prime. That’s it for the extensions, at least for now.
  8. Now we’re talkin, not sure he goes for that if he continues the DOMINATION he’s exhibiting.
  9. Yes, because you've randomly tossed out extra years and money to just about anything with an arm or a "good eye" at the plate. All of that adds up at the end of the day. I implore you to look back through all of your posts and see how many ideas you have just flung out there to build a team and see if you can actually make sense of it. I would bet that if you did, and realized all of the things you have posted, you may understand why people question you so frequently around here. I’ll be proven right on Grisham. I actually find it mind boggling that people that supposedly know baseball, are having a hard time seeing him as a future star. Forget the stats he had in AA and AAA this year, just watch him hit. Just like all this talk about the “journeyman” Freitas. All this talk from people that have never seen him take a swing. Watch him play some games, watch him swing the bat first, you know, before leading the Freitas will save the world jokes.

I would bet that if you did, and realized all of the things you have posted, you may understand why people question you so frequently around here. I’ll admit a few bad takes and predictions, beyond the 3-4 TOR prediction. But I’ve been dead on numerous takes too. But getting back to this Lyles take, Lyles at 18 for 3 is a less risky deal than Chacin for 2 at 16. Lyles is younger and has way better stuff.
  11. Because if we’re right we get 2 good years from Lyles instead of 1. If he has the kind of year his stuff/command warrants, he’d price himself out of our range the following year. This is how teams like the Orioles and lolMets and Tigers land at the bottoms of their divisions for several years in a row. By being run like video game teams. So the extra year and it’s now a video game run team. Or, maybe if one really believes in Lyles, then the smart move would be the 3 year deal. Do pitcher’s between the age of 28-31 still get 3 year deals for let’s say 18 million? If he’d take that I’d go 3 in a heartbeat.

  13. Stop with the 3 year contract. I already said numerous times I’d prefer a 2 year deal.
  14. Agree. Get Pomeranz to warm up, just in case he doesn’t have it.
  15. It’s great seeing junior pitch like this. Splitter is nasty. If he can pitch close to this moving forward, this would be huge.
  16. The risk factor is that he's Jordan Lyles. Didn’t you just say if starting didn’t work out, he’s good out of the pen? Seems like your sorta talking out of both side of the mouth, you know, based on, your previous posts.
  17. 2 year deal > age 29 & 30 seasons. It’s more than 6 games hot streak. But I will admit, for me, he definitely passes the eye test. His stuff is really good and has good command too.
  18. I’d prefer 2 years, if he fails as a starter, he can pitch out of the pen. I don’t care what he did before he came to MKE last year, as much as what he’s done while pitching for the brewers. With the crew he’s been great. What’s the risk factor here?
  19. Don’t like this move. Trust Lyles 3rd time thru more than Guerra.
  20. If those guys stay healthy and avoid drastic negative regression, that's a playoff rotation in my mind. Of course, as we have seen this year, that is far from probable. No way. This is still a number one away from being where we need to be. Kick Anderson to the curb and use that 8.5 million. Na, save the 28-33 million a year for 5-7 years, to use in a myriad of ways to better strengthen the team. We have a #1 and he’s right under your nose.
  21. If those guys stay healthy and avoid drastic negative regression, that's a playoff rotation in my mind. Of course, as we have seen this year, that is far from probable. Lyles is certainly playing his way into a job next year. But man it still is tough to really bank on him in a big way or consider him core for a playoff team. Rewind a month when we got him and who would've thought anything like this. Not trying to rip him or anything, as we've seen first hand the last two years depth is needed and he seems to have something to offer in some way. Those 5 guys with Burnes, Peralta, Suter, Gio or maybe a couple others going in/out due to injury and performance should be a competent rotation. But we all thought the same this year too so... Sign the guy to a 2-3 year contract after this game. His stuff and command is real. Get er done.
  22. I've thought it was dumb pretty much my whole life. So generally I agree even though I know it was crucial to what MKE did last year and an area in general that could help a small market team cover for their inability to buy pitching. So it somewhat hurts us but the principle of it has always been dumb to me Could care less how the new rule helps the overall game of baseball, I only care that it hurts the brewers, for precisely the reason you gave. The disadvantages we already endure from a half century of being a smaller market team, imo, doesn’t need worsened.
  23. Go back and re-read my original post. Thanks.
  24. Nope, he ain't no Aaron Wilkerson... Keep it coming, but I’d hurry up before he gives up many more runs, or is out of this game.
