  1. I’m kinda surprised that you still think the crew might not have enough pitching to get a good run going. Now the offense is another matter.
  2. Brewers not losing helps. Sure, but when you're playing catchup and running out of games, you need to gain ground, not just hold serve. Certainly no exaggeration that the next series is the biggest of the season. Depending on the result we could be anywhere from tied for the wild card to 8 games back. A series win at minimum, 3 of 4, is a must to realistically hope to stay relevant. Thursday and Friday vs LHP. Austin and Freitas hit lefties well, so does Pina and Braun. Maybe Cain can surprise and Perez too, we’ll see what happens with the lineup. Counsell not gonna let Anderson or Davies or Gio give up much, bullpenning all weekend, playoffs all 4 games.
  3. I’d leave him in to finish this game. He’s dominating.
  4. That could happen. I think I'd take the bet that he makes it, though. Brewers love their power relievers. Stearns isn’t cutting him loose, unless he’s a disaster of epic proportions.
  5. Keep Pomeranz pitching, keep Alvarez on the bench
  6. Pomeranz is really pitching well. Goodness Gracious what a veteran weapon to have from the left side.
  7. 2 clutch, 2 out hits with RISP!! Maybe the worm will turn after all.
  8. No way can this team bring Shaw back, unless they re-build. Which they probably won’t do. Can’t take the chance on a repeat. Some team will think the change of scenery and trade a youngin or two this offseason.
  9. Can’t wait for this team to leave MKE.
  10. We need a pitcher that potentially can start, pitch long relief, mop up, or, if pitching well again high leverage. Could be lightning in a bottle.
  11. Several reasons. 1) Money. Promoted players have to be paid the prorated MLB minimum. It's not a ridiculously high amount, but it costs 100K or so per player to call him up the entire month. 2) Service time. Especially in the case of young players it's often not in the team's best interest to blow a month of service time on an extremely minimal role. 3) Player development. In the cases of some players, the organization would prefer them doing something else for their own personal development rather than coming up to Milwaukee to do almost nothing for the month. That might be going right home and getting some rest, preparing for fall/winter league play, or another form of training. 4) Clubhouse. Players do complain at times of the extra congestion in September, and a full 40 man clubhouse is probably going to prove to be pretty uncomfortable and pretty unpopular. Ok, after reading your post, and since Burnes was called up today, I still want Taylor and Nottingham up, and Devin Williams will be up after Biloxi playoffs. Taylor for pinch running and defense, Nottingham in case Freitas PH and out, protection if there’s extra inning game.
  12. But isn't it the bad/losing teams that have given the Brewers problems this year? 1-2 v. Miami (48-88) 1-2 v. Seattle (58-81) 0-3 v. LA Angels (65-73) 0-3 v. Padres (64-73) Had they merely split those games against bottom of the barrel teams, they'd be in position for the wild card right now with a legit shot at the division. Accordingly, to suggest that they have a run in them yet this year because they play some weaker clubs ignores the facts. Outside of Pittsburgh they haven't played well against losing teams. What happened in the past doesn’t matter in baseball. This is a different team than what we had even a week ago, a better team, especially their pitching, and I would argue that you were ignoring that most important fact.
  13. He’s slumping, that’s all. He’s also young and needs to play every day, which he should be doing. Even as bad as he’s been lately, he’s working the count, occasionally getting on via the bb. He’ll hit, if he plays. He could be really tired though... He’s been playing everyday in the minors and now is expected to keep playing when he has no energy. That’s why he’s playing poorly, working counts, and taking walks because he’s saving energy by not swinging the bat. Good one. Although, I would argue C the most games in baseball and then when not C playing 1B, should wear on a player to the point of said player getting a heavy bat, you know, 19 homers first 2 1/2 months, 3 since, type of heavy bat. But, no fear, Freitas is here.
  14. He’s slumping, that’s all. He’s also young and needs to play every day, which he should be doing. Even as bad as he’s been lately, he’s working the count, occasionally getting on via the bb. He’ll hit, if he plays.
  15. Agree it’s going to tougher with The injuries, especially Hiura vs LHP. But this team and especially Counsell, has an air of confidence about September baseball that’s hard to quantify. 12 real options out of the pen doesn’t hurt, Yelich heating up, and an offense that should at least get warmer if not hot, can go a long way to generating a big winning streak. I’m expecting at least 18-7 and that includes losing tonight.
  16. This team can use Burnes Supak T Taylor Nottingham etc., the entire 40 man should be available for EVERY game. Supak can pitch 5-6 innings in a blowout loss to save arms. Taylor can pinch run or defend. Maybe we’ll catch Lightning in a bottle with Burnes? What if there’s a 15+ inning game?
  17. What you say makes perfect sense. But, even if we lose 3 of 4 to the Cubbies, it’s not over. we’re a 8 game winning streak, and, or, winning 13 of 16 from going to the wire anyhow. But winning 3 of 4 would definitely make it an easier road. And winning tonight’s game would be a good start to this. Remember, we should have Hiura back for the last 2 weeks or so, and maybe Woodruff too.
  18. Firstly, this team is due for some good luck. They say all calls good or bad even out over time. If that’s the case, and the baseball gods are keeping track like I am, we are going to get a good amount of game changing calls to go our way in these last 25 games. Definitely looking forward to that. Our Pitching is really really good. Especially the bullpen. Suter looked as good as ever, Peralta looked as good as he has all year, albeit just a couple batters. We now have 7 pen arms, that as it stands right now, imo, we can reasonably count on to do a good job. Then there’s Nelson Black Albers T Williams D Williams Faria, if one or two of them can join the others > Winning Streak Probable.
  19. But you don’t get to that spot without swinging at two balls in the dirt. Yelich is partly culpable How about those Shaw and Perez at bats with runners on second. That was something special that you might see in a little league game with the one player on the team that would rather be at home playing with Star Wars figures but his parents forced him to play Nice try, to go and try to blame Yelich for that Abysmal call is so telling of your real intentions. Are you really a brewers fan? Seriously?
  20. He is awful slow, Although a little faster than Aguilar.
  21. Agreed. He’s too good of talent to be doing what he is doing. He is mentally gone right now. It’s the only thing that makes any sense. As a Brewer fan, if you actually gave something up, anything up in the offseason for a guy that was coming off a sub .170 year at the plate, think about what your reaction would be. Then, when you're feeling that level of angst about a move that Stearns would never make, understand that the Brewers aren't getting anything for Shaw. Lottery ticket or two would be just fine.
