  1. Wouldn’t have guessed this guy. Smith or Jackson, yes. Meh move for me, but we’ll see.
  2. Frustrating Yes, but did you really think they’d score with that lineup? How can Stearns watch this game and not know this offense needs lots of help. Yelich is a great hitter but not the 30 war offensive hitter he’d need to be to overcome this offense.
  3. Cain’s thumb could hold him back all year. Hope not, but he concerns me more than any player. All year all I’ve heard is how horrible the pitching is, and it hasn’t been good overall, horrible in April, good in May, bad in June, good again the last week, so trending up again, and Stearns can improve with a pen arm or two. But this offense scares me. Cain > ugh. Braun too streaky. Hiura > Rookie. Arcia > bad again. Pina < .150. Massive Ks, can’t/don’t move runners. They have to hit multiple homers per game to score. Even if they get to the playoffs, The better pitching will shut down our power even more. Stearns has to know this, so I’m confident he’ll improve this offense over the next month.
  4. Whatever the number it’s not enough, like last year when he went offensive at the break, hoping he does again this deadline, adding a good hitter with a good approach and calls up a player or two. This is a vastly overrated offense.
  5. Smith should replace Wilkerson. Hart no, stats stink. Jay Jackson’s been unhittable since he was sent back down after his less than stellar audition. Maybe he should be given another chance. Devon Williams has been dominant, FB 95-98. He’s pitching in Sunday’s futures game.
  6. Wilkerson should not be in the bullpen. He’s a starter. If their not gonna put him in the rotation, he should just stay in AAA.
  7. Gamel is okay as a backup once in awhile, but Pina is such a weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, link ... it' hard to watch. Meanwhile down on farm we have a .360+ C with good D. That’s already rostered.
  8. Did Counsell really think this starting lineup would score? Maybe he’s counting on Yelich and Grandal knocking in a run or two off the bench.
  9. Wow, what a horrible lineup. It’s so bad it’s kinda funny. Don’t think if Woodruff was pitching they could win, but with Chacín, no chance.
  10. Thank you for that explanation, and for the comparisons ahead.
  11. Scouts that have been watching Grisham since spring training are going to grade him way way way higher than prospect lists or especially this site. Same with Rasmussen, imo. Looking over the brewer list, your composite valuations are obviously more accurate than the sites, and if they are that far off on just about every brewer valuation, then there gonna be off on all teams players. Am I wrong here?
  12. How bout making changes only when warranted, based upon real time monitoring of all the players. Another words, working a little harder at that site to be more accurate. Serious question > how do you think a front office would value Rasmussen right now? Grisham right now?
  13. You think Corey Ray is almost three times as valuable as Trent Grisham? The surplus values I assign are based on various top prospect lists. Generally I won't elevated players above "role-player prospect" status until they establish themselves as "top 10 organizational type prospects"....which in the Brewer's case would probably be more along the lines of a top 8 prospect since they have a pretty weak system. At the time the prospect lists are updated, and if Grisham moves up as expected, then his surplus value will be adjusted up. The problem with this site is it’s not close to being accurate, how could it be, without constant updates. The brewer list is a good example. But ultimately the only assessment site that matters is the front office.
  14. Taking Chase out of the game when he did was imo, mind boggling. 77 virtual stress free pitches, 2 outs, no one on, WHY? No off days till the break, bullpen NOT rested. If I’m a beat writer, it’s my first question to Counsell.
  15. But, but Freitas is the answer to our offensive woes! So obviously he wont have as good of stats as Freitas. You know as well as I do he’s not the answere to our offensive woes, but if Pina continues flailing away at the plate, he’s an option.
  16. I heard/read Freitas was a good defender. The reason he hasn’t already replaced Pina is Stearns and his preservation of Organizational depth, imo.
  17. Not to mention swapping out proven players for a couple of guys that have had all of one good season each, the former of which has about 50 at bats at AAA. What a horrible notion. I mis-read the post. Thought asking what to do with the outfield if Braun and Cain went on the IL. Grisham would probably do well because of his plate approach. Freitas would could(could?) hit well enough to allow Grandal to play 1B vs Lefty’s, but at worst still hit better than Pina’s .155. And Dubon should probably stay down till the deadline, likely traded.
  18. You could insert Cain for Braun here. It doesn't look like Braun was too concerned when he was taken out of the game, but if he's out for an extended ampunt of time and with Cain struggling, what do you do with the outfield? Roster Grisham and play him, also call-up Tyrone Taylor. Play Grisham and Gamel in the OF, Taylor bench, Saladino could play of too vs lefty’s.
  19. Reds broadcasters are even surprised Cain isn’t on the IL, they said, he’s not right. Telling. I believe he’s being stubborn and selfish, hurting the team, just like Shaw.
