  1. I don't know, seems like he's a pretty good option against lefties. After Hader, Jeffress, and Burnes, who are pretty much locked into roles already, Cedeno and Jennings are our two best options to bring in to face a lefty.
  2. Edwards didn't make the WC roster Mighty fall for that guy. I believe you get to adjust your roster each round, so if they just didn't want to use him today and want to bring him back Thursday, they can.
  3. I think up 6-0 you can hold off and see if he actually gives up the 3 run bomb before warming up the pen, would have been nice to save a couple arms this game. Still could.
  4. I'm not even sure they're more worried about Carpenter than anyone else, he's just literally the *only* left handed hitter in their lineup so you might as well blow your lefthanded relievers on him.
  5. [sarcasm]I thought the plan was to only have righties face righties[/sarcasm]
  6. Not sure why it's a big deal that the lefty is coming in this inning instead of starting next inning when we already cleared the pitcher spot in the lineup
  7. Yeah, Saladino would be about my 6th choice behind Granderson, Santana, Schoop, Broxton, and Thames
  8. People are acting like Carpenter's Trout, he's been streaky all year and his last 103 ABs he's hit to the tune of .214/.333/.330/.663. Peralta threw a bad pitch, but he's been able to throw 3 2/3 innings of 1 run ball. That may have not have been the plan going into the game, but CC saw an opportunity to save a couple pitchers. The game is tied at 1 and we have 5 additional games left in the season. This isn't game 7 of the World Series.
  9. Does anyone change their stance if Peralta goes 1 or 2 more scoreless innings? If Peralta comes out here, I agree it's weird to keep him in for Carpenter and then take him out a batter later, but if he pitches another inning, I definitely understand the move.
  10. I think there's a good chance the plan changed when they got the lead, it looked like Peralta was dealing, and they had a chance to save some of the the bullpen for the rest of the series. No reason to be stubborn if a better option forms as the game proceeds.
  11. What's the last point in which a team can change a starting pitcher (without losing his availability for the game) or make a last minute lineup change? I would assume it just has to happen before the lineup cards are brought to the umps at the beginning of the game? So while the opposing team usually knows who's pitching based on schedules/etc., they don't really know for sure until they've already made out their card and handed it in, correct? I would love to see how much complaining there will be if they load up the top of their lineup with righties in response to the announcement that Jennings is starting and then we start a righty anyways, lol. Or maybe we don't plan on pitching Jennings anyways and are okay just wasting him at the beginning of the game to bust up their lineup. That must break about 20 unwritten rules in the Cards' "rule bible."
  12. Just looked it up... "fared well" may not work well in this case... lol
  13. Because Jennings has been so great at getting lefties out this year. BOOO! Starting Jennings is just too cute for me... Jennings vs. LHB 2018 .228/.268/.307/.575 Jennings vs. LHB 2015-17 .233/.322/.314/.636 Seems pretty good to me.
  14. Reminds me of better times in Packers' history as well: I could watch that video 100 times in a row, lol
  15. I wish they would just go ahead and actually define the MVP award. The debates about something that everyone defines differently drives me crazy because no one's actually discussing the same topic, lol. So until it's defined, I can't argue against someone that thinks it should only go towards someone on a playoff team, but I don't really understand saying a player isn't "valuable enough to not have their team finish 4th in their division," when that player is leading the MLB in WAR. Taking Trout off the Angels and replacing him with any other player in the MLB wouldn't improve that team, therefore no player is "valuable enough to not have their team finish 4th in their division" and I guess no player in baseball should be MVP?
  16. I don't understand how ballparks don't have cameras in place for those plays. Seems like putting a cam on each foul pole that tracks the ball would help with a lot of homerun/no-homerun and fair/foul calls.
  17. Nah, there won't be any must win games because we're taking the division and then not letting any of the series get to an elimination game on our cruise to the World series title!
  18. Yeah, looks like the division winners are given home field advantage over wild card teams until the World Series, then it's just the better regular season winning percentage regardless of division winner or wild card. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-playoffs-home-field-matchups-explained/c-256992372
