  1. You weren’t kidding when you said you’d produced a ton of material over the last few days. Man oh man. Well done and Thank You!
  2. Hey, Peoria went all-in, starting 4 Brewers’ position players, including C Ramon Rodriguez in his AFL debut. Of course, this resulted in a blowout 10-3 victory.
  3. I'm not sure where else to post this. By my count, we now have 129 players under stateside minor league contracts, which may reduce to as low as 124 in 2 weeks when we protect a few players from the Rule 5 draft. This is against a player cap limit of 175 in the off-season, so I'm expecting a SLEW of minor league player additions over the next 2 months. Of course, we may leave room for about 18 DSL-to-ACL player promotions, but that would still leave room to add over 30 minor leaguers. I apologize if my math is materially wrong for any reason. My suspicion is that we particularly value AAAA-type players - e.g. we added Koenig, Paredes, Herget, Zastryzny, Austin Nola, Yonny, Arroyo, Hicklen, Blackwood and McGee last year, in addition to Carlson, David Garcia, Ramon Rodriguez, Nova, Rund, Polancic, Chavez Young and Yerzy.
  4. C Ramon Rodriguez (High-A Wisconsin), whom we believe was scheduled to become a free agent, was not included on this Baseball America list. In fact, his MILB player page indicates that he was assigned to the Arizona Fall League and he's showing on the Peoria Javelinas' AFL roster. I've got to believe this means we're keeping Ramon for 2025.
  5. According to Baseball America, another 15 Brewers Minor Leaguers have become free agents: RHP Sam Carlson (AA) RHP Harold Chirino (AA) 1B Jesus Chirinos (A+) C Francisco Mejia (AAA) C Brian Navarreto (AAA) C Andrew Yerzy (AAA) INF Patrick Dorrian (AAA) INF Jose Acosta (A+) INF Christian Arroyo (AAA) INF Felix Valerio (AA) OF Reidy Mercado (A) OF Carlos D. Rodriguez (AAA) OF Chris Roller (AAA) OF Connor Scott (AA) OF Lamar Sparks (AA)
  6. We don’t have news yet. CD Rodriguez, Mejia and Chirinos can all elect free agency, but we’ll keep tracking them until we hear something definitive. Maybe we’ll re-sign CD Rodriguez to a minor league contract, as we’ve apparently done with Ernesto Martinez. I don’t think anyone will offer CD Rodriguez a major league contract (40-man MLB roster spot).
  7. We’ve got your latest Winter League stats right here, including INF Oliver Dunn: Venezuelan League: INF Andruw Monasterio - Caribes de Anzoategui - 1.014 OPS in 77 PAs, 11 RBIs, 4 SBs OF Carlos D. Rodriguez - Navegantes del Magallanes - .968 OPS in 68 PAs, 10 RBIs, 1 SB OF Hedbert Perez - Tiburones de la Guaira – .910 OPS in 33 PAs, 2 RBIs, 1 SB INF Eduardo Garcia - Cardenales de Lara - .824 OPS in 14 PAs, 3 RBIs RHP Dikember Sanchez - Tiburones de la Guaira - 3.1 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 0 BB, 2 Ks OF Yhoswar Garcia - Tiburones de la Guaira - .000 OPS in 4 PAs, 1 SB 1B Jesus Chirinos is also on the roster of Aguilas del Zulia. Dominican League: C Francisco Mejia - Tigres del Licey - .596 OPS in 23 PAs, 2 RBIs, 2 SBs INF Oliver Dunn - Gigantes del Cibao - .452 OPS in 7 PAs, 1 RBI Mexico: LHP Jesus Broca - Algodoneros de Guasave – 5.1 IP, 1 R (0 ER), 3 H, 5 BB, 4 Ks
  8. Letting 7 respectable pitchers go (Rea, Wilson, Paredes, Zastryzny, Herget, White, Meeker) in a short time perhaps suggests that we’ll protect 5 players (Henderson, Smith, Patrick, Crow, EMJ), despite Ernesto already re-signing and minor league contract and Crow’s challenging AFL campaign.
  9. I’m figuring we got $1 and I’m mainly curious to see whether the Rockies are adding him to their 40-man MLB roster. Or maybe Miller agreed to extend his minor league contract, but with an early opt out.
  10. I assume this means that 29 other teams wouldn’t even offer a prospect in trade at this time. Interesting. Good luck Colin! I hope someone claims him, so he’ll get his $5.5m and the Brewers will not have to pay him $1.0m to throw for somebody else.
  11. The 2024 Peoria Javelinas feel like the worst All-Star team ever.
  12. OF Fabricio Valera released by DSL Brewers-2 C Estefano Lozano released by DSL Brewers-2 RHP Esmir Suarez released by DSL Brewers-1
  13. - Signed RHP Johandry Ramirez He’s 17 years old, from the Dominican Republic, listed at 6’1”
  14. Here are updated Winter League stats. It's nice to see Eduardo Garcia and Hedbert Perez making the most of their opportunities: Venezuelan League: INF Andruw Monasterio - Caribes de Anzoategui - 1.128 OPS in 55 PAs, 11 RBIs, 4 SBs OF Carlos D. Rodriguez - Navegantes del Magallanes - .952 OPS in 38 PAs, 4 RBIs INF Eduardo Garcia - Cardenales de Lara - .824 OPS in 14 PAs, 3 RBIs OF Hedbert Perez - Tiburones de la Guaira – 1.063 OPS in 18 PAs, 2 RBIs OF Yhoswar Garcia - Tiburones de la Guaira - .000 OPS in 2 PAs, 1 SB RHP Dikember Sanchez - Tiburones de la Guaira - 1.1 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 1 K 1B Jesus Chirinos is also on the roster of Aguilas del Zulia. C Francisco Mejia - Tigres del Licey in the Dominican Republic - .543 OPS in 15 PAs, 1 RBI, 2 SBs LHP Jesus Broca - Algodoneros de Guasave in Mexico – 5.0 IP, 1 R (0 ER), 3 H, 5 BB, 3 Ks
  15. Talisman OF Carlos D. Rodriguez - "el pelotero más importante del equipo" - returns to Navegantes after dealing with a visa issue. He last played on October 20th. Story (translated to English) here
  16. I guess we may not really know what we have with Hall, Ashby and Woodruff (as regards 2025 starting potential) until February. We’ll probably let the media fawn over Misiorowski in Feb/March as a potential 2025 starter while we figure out the real plan.
  17. I'm pleased to say I voted for Ramon Rodriguez, but regret somehow omitting Yophery. The only thing I don't know is whether Yophery should have bumped out CD Rodriguez or Tyler Black.
  18. I tried to replicate the results: S/N Player Points Votes 1 Jacob Misiorowski 519 27 2 Jeferson Quero 484 26 3 Cooper Pratt 461 27 4 Robert Gasser 410 26 5 Tyler Black 377 26 6 Jesus Made 346 24 7 Brock Wilken 291 26 8 Logan Henderson 283 26 9 Mike Boeve 279 26 10 Yophery Rodriguez 275 27 11 Braylon Payne 237 24 12 Eric Bitonti 212 25 13 Luke Adams 176 24 14 Craig Yoho 173 24 15 Josh Knoth 164 25 16 K.C. 19. Two other players in action this winter are: C Francisco Mejia - Tigres del Licey in the Dominican Republic - .829 OPS in 6 PAs LHP Jesus Broca - Algodoneros de Guasave in Mexico - 2.1 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 2 Ks
  20. I've noted 6 Brewers who've played over the first 9 days in Venezuela: INF Andruw Monasterio - Caribes de Anzoategui - 1.290 OPS in 32 PAs OF Carlos D. Rodriguez - Navegantes del Magallanes - 1.048 OPS in 33 PAs INF Eduardo Garcia - Cardenales de Lara - .786 OPS in 7 PAs OF Hedbert Perez - Tiburones de la Guaira - .840 OPS in 13 PAs OF Yhoswar Garcia - Tiburones de la Guaira - .000 OPS in 1 PA RHP Dikember Sanchez - Tiburones de la Guaira - 1.1 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 1 K 1B Jesus Chirinos is also on the roster of Aguilas del Zulia.
  21. Winter Baseball (where the temperatures are in the 60s and above) comprises four main leagues that we can follow: Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional (LVBP – Venezuela) – a top league which commenced on October 11 Liga de Beisbol Profesional de la Republica Dominicana (LIDOM – Dominican Republic) – another top league which started on October 16 Liga de Beisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente (LIGAPR – Puerto Rico) – scheduled to begin on November 7 Liga Arco Mexicana del Pacifico (LMP – Mexico) – commenced on October 11 For many years, the Brewers would have 10-15 participants in these leagues, which have a regular season, round robin phase for top teams, then knock-out rounds which typically run into early January. INF Andruw Monasterio had a solid campaign two years ago, then OF Carlos D. Rodriguez last year, although very few Brewers participated last year. There are also leagues in Nicaragua, Columbia and other locations, where box scores and statistics can be more difficult to find.
  22. It’s an interesting consideration, but I don’t see it happening unless Quero leap-frogs to merit regular MLB playing time. I think we’re set with 3 catchers on the 40-man MLB roster, but will sign 2 experienced catchers to minor league contracts (similar to the Navarreto, Nola and Mejia signings last year).
