  1. So when Elmer comes back, my vote is for Yo to go back down to AAA to get a little more experience. Maybe we can turn him into a 2B....at least we'll get production at the plate out of that position then.
  2. I really enjoy the predictability of Bucksman4... Thank you. I'll enjoy hearing how you'd like to defend Rickie Weeks' play. That should be good for a laugh or two.
  3. Weeks can hit worth a lick and his defensive abilities are suspect too. What good does this guy do for a team??
  4. If it were anyone besides Estrada running, that play at second base woudn't have been made. It would be 4-0.
  5. I get a good feeling about this series. I'm excited to see in the probable matchups 2 of our young gun studs in Yo Gallardo and Parra taking the mound this weekend.
  6. my god is it negative here I guess all it takes is a hurtfully realistic post by me to get things off and poppin' on this board. If you happen to go back a few pages, you'll see I'm just one of several posters who believes this divisional lead will be relinquished by Sunday or Monday. Yet everyone jumps on me....funny huh?
  7. Something tells me you're forgetting about the division leaders in every other division in baseball, plus the Indians. Uh, no. I'm not talking about the best record. I'm talking about who's playing the best over the last stretch of about 30 games or so. If one does the research, it will be the Cubs easily.
  8. and you'll finally be happy, 2 months after you started posting this all the time we are down to a 1.5 game lead. Yes. Because I hate the Brewers. Does reality hurt that much? Can't you take the goggles off and look at things realistically? Cubs are the best team in baseball and we're far from it. Me saying we'll be out of first place in 3 days isn't that much of a stretch.
  9. By Sunday, we'll be looking up at the Cubs in 1st place. Book it.
  10. This Brewers team looks like it hit the wall. No enthusiasm, no emotion, just lackadasical.
  11. Right now, Weeks is just a black hole where hits disappear. He looks awful. Talk about someone I'd love to package away in a trade. I'm sick of this kid. Get someone in there who can hit. For god sakes, a Luis Castillo-type 2B who can hit you .300 and steal some bases...wouldn't that be nice?
  12. I find it funny that same people who said Sheets "wasn't a winner" and that Estrada is excellent because "he never strikes out and hits line drives" love this trade, claiming that Linebrink is the cream of the crop in terms of middle relievers. And I find it funny that you're trying to paint a similarity between these three totally unrelated players. Because a person feels Estrada is an above-average, serviceable player it doesn't mean he will automatically feel Linebrink is amazing. They are two separate entities here. I can actually fathom the possibility of someone despising Estrada but loving Linebrink. A stretch, I know. But weirder scenarios have happened.
  13. If Sheets is out longer -- then I agree this trade makes more sense. And I'll ask you the same question right back -- Why?? What does losing Sheets have to do with acquiring one of the best set-up men in all of baseball? Spurling is a mop-up, innings-eater pitcher with less than stellar 'stuff.' We're talking about shoring up the backend of the bullpen and giving us insurance in case Turnbow melts down. Everyone knew that we needed to gain more reliable arms to get us to Coco in the 9th. We have too many pitchers who don't take us beyond the 5th inning of games and I don't know about you, but I sure feel more at ease with Linebrink helping out Wise and Turnbow to get some holds as the 6th, 7th, 8th inning guys if need-be from now until the end.
  14. You have to trust DM, bottom line. I know it's tough for some people to fathom the possibility of losing Inman, but it's natural because we've never HAD to feel this way. We're used to dumping off our high priced free agents-to-be on other playoff-bound teams looking to shore up their team's deficiencies. This is a strange position to be in as a Brewers fan. In my lifetime, I haven't witnessed this situation: a situation where adding a key component or two can reshape a pennant race and put us over the top. Linebrink, for all accounts and purposes, is a very solid and experienced bullpen arm. When you look at the likes of Spurling, Balfour and even an inexperienced Parra, adding a guy like Scott makes me feel more comfortable as a Brewers fan.
  15. brewers19, thanks for the updates on OBP. Maybe it just seems Weeks isn't getting on lately because of the bad swings he's taking at pitches out of the zone.
  16. Or the fact that he's got a 0.222 OBP since his hitting streak ended. I'd like to see what Weeks' OBP has been over the course of the last few months. Won't be a pretty sight.
  17. Weeks batting leadoff is horrible. Slice it anyway you want, this guy has no eye at the plate. One 0-4 day slides Hart out of his spot? Ridiculous.
  18. I... am somehow intrigued by that lineup. I seriously think it makes sense for some odd reason. Nedly's throwing the kitchen sink and everything around it at Double D tonight...should be interesting to see how this Graffy in LF situation plays out.
  19. And the latest anti-Ned move: Notes: Yost opts to bench slumping Weeks www.jsonline.com/story/in...?id=634627 "We're at the stage where production matters," said Yost. "We're not in the phase of developing anymore. I've got to put my most productive players on the field." Way to step up and do the right thing here Yost. It's what a manager of a winning team HAS to do. Production does matter. We're in a pennant race here, folks.
  20. I think this is a difficult topic to discuss because Weeks is really the only prospect out of the wave of young talent we've brought up that's struggled mightily. The problem is no one knows if it's physical or mental...or possibly a combination of both. What I like about the kid is the fact he was the first guy out of the dugout after Graffy's game winning hit yesterday to congratulate him with a big smile on his face. He knows he's not performing well. All we can hope for is a Hardy-like turnaround for him hopefully in the second half or possibly even next season. He has raw talent and has proven in the past he can hit. The issue we're having is in years past, as a losing team, we were more apt to let guys like him work out their struggles in the bigs while we plummeted in the standings. This year, Yost knows for his jobs sake and the Brewers first place standing, we can't afford Weeks the luxury of finding his stroke and costing us games.
  21. I haven't posted in awhile, but I enjoyed tonight's game. Gallardo impressed me once again and shows he can step in when needed in the clutch. I gained a lot of respect for Ned Yost tonight too. That Graffy pinch hit was anti-Ned to the highest degree. He put Weeks' potentially hurt feelings aside and did what was best for the team in that situation. Bottom line is you need a contact hitter in that spot and Weeks' lack of plate discipline and overall shoddy batsmanship this season warrants this type of ballsy move by Mr. Yost. Let's pick up the rubber match tomorrow!
  22. Soup is one of those pitchers I have scratched my head at as an opposing team's fan over the last few seasons. It seemed like every time I saw his name in the pitching matchups, I really didn't take him seriously. His record always seemed inflated because of the likes of Pujols, Edmonds, and Rolen knocking in runs left and right for him. His less than stellar 'stuff' always made me think the Brewers would be able to crush him. We all know that was not the case...especially at Miller Park. I think he's pitching pretty much at my expectations. I didn't expect a savior because, quite frankly, he's never been dominant by any stretch of the imagination. He is solid, though. We know we're going to get a .500 pitcher at least. For the contract they gave him, I'm sorry but .500 and "solid" isn't enough to cut it for me.
  23. I believe the Brewers will hold off the Cubs and Cards for the NL Central division crown. Having said that, the primary concern that I have for this team is being able to close this out down the stretch run. The reason why I am not totally confident in this team is its inability to win baseball games on the road. Series vs. PITT and WASH should be very winnable no matter if you're playing them at home or away. I am skeptical of their ability to turn it around because of the consistent lackluster play on the road I witnessed from April-Sept. last season.
  24. In any group of promising prospects, there's always going to be a dud. Rickie Weeks is the dud in this group of gems. The guy is garbage. Slice it any way you want. Put me on record now if you must. The guy is very overrated.
