  1. I'm sorry but for all the people who are Gabe Gross backers, what is your rationale? He hasn't done anything to impress me....ever. He's a very average hitter and really his D isn't all that great either. I think it's one of those good ol' cases of backing a guy who's normally on the bench who people feel should play solely because other regular starters are playing poorly.
  2. Benny's been dealin' here tonight. This inning provided only the second scare of the night with that long fly ball to LF. The only other time I worried a little was men on 2nd and 3rd for TX with 1 out. He got out of that one pretty well too. I'd like for him to have a few more runs to work with here.
  3. Give it a rest people! Yost is keeping Estrada in the 5-spot. How do I know? Because for the last 2 weeks, many of you have been posting your lineups and one thing has stayed consistent....Johnny's stayed in the 5-spot behind Prince!!! Just because you put something in print, it doesn't mean it will show up on Yost's lineup card. I am all for keeping Estrada in the 5-spot. He's too good of a hitter to keep this slump up and if ever Yost was going to pull one of his "stubborn stances," this is one I can definitely back.
  4. I personally feel that Braun's cockiness and/or confidence will be a welcomed addition to this team of young, talented, and relatively unemotional/boring group. Come on, let's face it. If you listen to a Prince audio clip after the game, he gives out cliche answers in between the "you know" every other word. Rickie Weeks is pretty quiet too and doesn't seem to ever say a word on the field. JJ is another of the solid players who just doesn't seem to have an edge to him emotional-wise. Braun on the other hand...he exudes that cockiness and personality out on the field. He's just got that aura about him that you either have or don't have.
  5. I would be remiss if I didn't post showing some love for the guy everyone wants to make a long-reliever in the Brewers 'pen, Mr. Claudio Vargas. Another stellar outing by our #5 guy. At 4-1 with an ERA just over 4.00, he's doing as well as I could've hoped. Everyone talks about the trouble he gets himself in to out there on the mound, but over and over again he's proven it's not a fluke he can work himself out of those jams. Let's get Headcase Z tomorrow.
  6. I saw the first few innings at a sports bar and realized that was enough misery to put myself through (seeing those bases loaded DPs kill us). Thank God I'm in Indiana and in the Cubs, Sox and Reds blackout zone. I know my laptop would be out my hotel window if my eyes had to witness this display tonight. Against the Cubs of all teams!!
  7. My ideal lineup: 1. Hart RF 2. Hardy SS 3. Braun 3B 4. Fielder 1B 5. Estrada C 6. Hall CF 7. Mench/Jenkins (strict platoon) LF 8. Weeks 2B 9. SP
  8. Then I finally realized you went to the game with YOUR Mrs. And Sheets dominated. Wow. And yet another reason to make sure you are not reading and posting on IGT's after consuming alcoholic beverages all day.
  9. It sure would be nice to take at least 2 of 3 vs. the Cubbies. It would really demorilize their psyche if we ended up getting even further ahead in the divisional standings.
  10. I'm watching Matty Vasgersian's SD-PIT broadcast on MLB.TV and the Padres just took the lead 4-2 in the 11th inning off of back-to-back jacks. Our lead is about to expand to 6.5 games in the Central. Tough luck to see Rickie head to the DL. You wonder if rest will help or are there complications from the surgery that won't be corrected by sitting out 15 days. We'll have to see.
  11. Hey Rickie, I hope you didn't get too comfy in that leadoff spot. Someone named Corey just took it away from you. It's good to see your leadoff guy get some hits. I forgot what that looked like.
  12. Seriously...how pathetic would this offense be without JJ hitting like he is? Without JJ or Prince, take a look at the standings. You see where Cincy is.....that's where we'd be.
  13. Vee-ya has been just flat out awesome all year for us out of the pen. I really knew this kid was great when I witnessed firsthand that gutsy performance against the Cubs in April at Wrigley when he ate up 3-4 innings throwing scoreless ball in key innings.
  14. Hall hit a few balls on the screws tonight. Just a disheartening time to ground into a DP there. Wes sure impressed me tonight. A lot of ground-into-DP outs for him tonight.
  15. Our 5-9 spots in the batting order are a combined 0-10. Very uninspiring.
  16. We're due to jump on Obie this inning. I mean come on, this is Wes Obermueller. Edit: Look like someone isn't ready to give up that leadoff spot.
  17. I'm going to guess about 6 years, total. That kinda depresses me. We wait for years to get him here and before we know it, he'll be in his prime playing for another team. It's situations like these that make me wish we were in a large market where we know we could retain a player if he's good and the organization likes him.
  18. And that his agent is Scott Boras. Meaning, enjoy him now. We don't know how long he will stay here.
  19. Umm....you may have misheard him. He was just "defensive" about his poor catching abilities. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  20. Prince. Dude is just sick. That's all I got.
  21. Houdini Vargas!!! Every five days, our blood is boiling with this dude on the mound loading up the bases and giving us a scare.
  22. Speaking of hitting high pitch counts early in games, Vargas has 60 after the 3rd inning. Pretty good inning there to only give up 1 run with men on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Let's get some runs!!!
  23. I will agree with giving Corey Hart a legit shot at this leadoff spot. Even though Weeks is struggling, I would still rather have him in the lineup playing 2B over Counsell/Graffy any day of the week. Weeks batting 7 would be my preference.
  24. What do strikeouts have to do with getting on base? If you strikeout....you don't get on base. Hitting .243. I don't know about you, but I expect way more from a leadoff hitter. Maybe I'm expecting too much???
  25. is Rickie hurt or what?? Nope. He's just been sucking it up. I wouldn't mind Ned sitting him tomorrow even too. He's NOT a leadoff hitter, period. And when the guy gets 2 strikes on him, I expect....expect a K coming. Wiffing away at both fastballs and off-speed pitches equally lately. When he does come back, push him way down in the batting order, please!
