  1. There's Sheets' run support. I hope he pitches like it's 0-0 and not 3-0. Sometimes pitchers tend to 'settle in' when they have a little cushion.
  2. Kruk on BT just gave Gallardo a lot of praise. He highlighted his 'stuff' and gave him props for his poise and having the guts to throw breaking ball strikes to Bonds. He said he was going to be a good pitcher and likened him to "a poor man's Ben Sheets." Overall, nice comments. Does that jinx him that it came out of Krukie's mouth?
  3. Guys, what do we realistically do with him once Capuano comes back? Does the consensus say keep Bushie in there and see how he progresses and stick Yo in the 'pen? Or do we give Yo a shot to keep his spot in the rotation? It really is a tough call.
  4. William is sure getting the job done in CF. It seems like several times a week we're witnessing spectacular, highlight-reel catches from old #2 out there.
  5. YO! We're witnessing Carlos Zambrano-like hitting from Yovani (minus the headcase).
  6. This can't be good for one's heart. I can't wait until we get back to the NL teams...right Coco?
  7. For those of you NOT watching the game, I'm tuning into the Tigers broadcast. They showed the shift the Brewers were playing on Ordonez and said they don't know what scouting report the Brewers are following, but they know he takes a good share of balls the other way. Sure enough, he hits a ball right to the normal 2B position where Counsell should be and it goes right through to RF and 2 runs scored. Turned an easy out grounder into a one run game. Can someone say over-coaching??
  8. Granderson's really ticking me off. He turns into every pitch to make it seem like it's biting inside on him. Very irritating to watch.
  9. Boy can moods change awfully quickly. The funny thing is with T-bow coming in, moods can swing again if things go awry.
  10. What a series for Billy. Maybe this is his turnaround. I sure like his batter's eye lately.
  11. Tell 'em lumberrule. I agreed with every word you typed there. We have the right to be disappointed and angry with how this team is playing. It's the hitting, pitching, defense and managing that are collaborating together to make our lives living hell these last few weeks. It's not just one or two facets of the game that are BAD right now.
  12. Today on WSSP, Melvin said even more of a priority than the bullpen was finding a bat to help this offense. What position would he be looking to upgrade? You'd have to think he'd be looking at a better player than a David Bell/ Tony Graffanino-type pickup.
  13. It just gets annoying hearing everyone complain how terrible we are, then stop watching! The Cubs are a lot worse off than we are, yet their fans watch their games and post all over their message boards. It's called venting frustrations! Check out their message boards if you don't believe me. Before the day's games start there's countless threads about 'Cubs Regaining First Place Soon' and then after they lose it's 'We're doomed..we suck!' threads.
  14. Get Shouse off this dang team!!! He falls behind every batter with those stupid, dragging outside pitches that tail about 3 feet outside of the right handed batters box. He is pitching horribly this year and it's almost a miracle when he doesn't allow a runner to score. Doug, there's gotta be someone better out there. Get him NOW.
  15. Former Tiger Spurling coming in here. Let's hope he doesn't pitch like Cordero did against his old AL team. Edit: Sorry, Tigers broadcast had it wrong. Shousey's in.
  16. The lineup is alright. My only problem is the Corey Hart situation. You can't keep juggling this guy from 1 to 5 and visa versa and expect him to produce. Hitting 1st is a heck of a lot different than hitting 5th from an "approach" standpoint up at the plate. Make him your leadoff hitter and stick with it. He can hit for average, he'll take a walk, he's your best base stealer, and doesn't seemed overwhelmed with hitting 1st. So what's wrong with keeping him there? Yost baffles me sometimes.
  17. Obviously you wanted Braun in....maybe Yost wanted to save Braun the 0-4 with 4 K's to keep some of his confidence. mikerollins...sorry man, but that is a horrible rationale for sitting Braun. In my opinion, it would be my job as a manager to put the best lineup I could possibly assemble against a tough pitcher like Verlander. If Yost believes he is doing what he promised and is "putting the best team on the field for that given day," essentially what he is saying is Graffanino and sub-.200 Gross gives the team as good of a chance or better chance to win as Gwynn and Braun would have. I'm sorry, but you don't have to be an "insider" to realize that his choice was a very poor one.
  18. It's a fluke and Verlander was absolutely in the zone. Is being 10-20 in the last 30 games a fluke too? Uh, the writing has been on the wall for awhile now.
  19. It's a fluke and Verlander was absolutely in the zone. Is being 10-20 in the last 30 games a fluke too? Uh, the writing has been on the wall for awhile now.
  20. This was awesome to see. I've never witnessed a no-hitter before and if anyone deserved it, it was Verlander with his electric stuff. Wow. (and he's got a hot girlfriend who came down onto the field to congratulate him with a kiss afterwards...I like!)
  21. The Tigers announcers have referenced the 10 K's by Verlander but have never once said anything about the no-no. I've noticed they've chosen their words carefully throughout and when the pitching line comes up they say, 'take a look at those numbers folks' and leave it at that. They believe in jinxes evidently. Thank God we have our best hitters leading off this inning 1-2 for us.
  22. Washburn hit in the go-ahead run in the Cubs/Mariners game. If the Cubs and Cards lose, I won't feel as bad.
  23. Awesome play by Mr. Hall. Have a Day, Bill, Have a Day!
  24. 1 inning left. 3 outs. Let the humbling begin. Who's ready for the Yost "pat 'em on the back" quotes after this one. I'm predicting a "Verlander's stuff was unhittable (really Ned?) tonight" quote.
  25. You may as well leave Suppan out there to die, Ned. You already left him out there 20 pitches too long so just finish the job. Too long? You make it seem like the Brewers are poised to string a bunch of hits and score some runs next inning vs. a guy we haven't even gotten 1 hit off of.
