  1. You should expect a lot more than just a single a night from a starting corner outfielder. I sure do. Except he isn't a corner OF. He's playing RF by default. Ideally, we'd have Hall in a corner OF spot and Gwynn in CF to play the Juan Pierre type role at the top of the order (except Gwynn actually has an arm). In all fairness, Hall isn't putting up corner OF numbers either right now either.
  2. I love me some Carlos Villanueva. Oh how much better would I feel having him as our #4 or 5 starter. The only negative to that is we wouldn't get him to help us in long-relief to hold leads in the 'pen.
  3. He's not an every day player. While I agree he is struggling and as I said not worthy of cleanup-hitter status, I disagree wholeheartedly with the above statement. jloos said it best, he hit 35 HR last year and that doesn't happen by mistake. I say move him to the 5-6 spot and let it ride out. He'll find his stroke eventually...I just hope its sooner than later.
  4. Hall better be moved out of that 4-hole very soon. He looks absolutely pathetic up there right now. Outside of that meaningless HR yesterday, the guy couldn't hit a beachball with a whiffle ball bat lately.
  5. I don't care what our current record is, right now this Brewers team is horrible. They can't hit Ramon "I give up runs for a living" Ortiz? They can't put anything together offensively. They can't throw strikes to the bottom of the order hitters. Right now, this team couldn't beat AAA Nashville.
  6. Dear Graffanino, You know you are below me now. Signed, The Mendoza Line P.S. You're horrible.
  7. Dear casey1992, I didn't so much mind the haiku one. Maybe this is annoying because the Brewers are playing badly. My apologies, bucksman
  8. Dear whoever cares, This game sucks as badly as this thread format. Nice idea whoever you are. Signed, A non-compliant poster
  9. This Graffy-Counsell-Pitcher trio is absolutely killing this team right now. I don't know how much longer I can stand this lackluster hitting.
  10. you are last in the Major Leagues in pitches per plate apperance and it's not even close. That doesn't matter to me. He's one of the few guys on the team that consistently puts the ball in play. In watching games throughout my years, I've understood that a guy like him has a better chance of getting hits than someone who K's a lot. I'll take a few more Estrada-types on my team any day.
  11. With Counsell and Dave Bush due up to start next inning it got me to thinking. I seriously am more confident that Bush will get a hit over Craig. Bush for the 8th spot!
  12. Braun is in the lineup and batting 2nd tonight vs. the Isotopes.
  13. Way to show Doug Melvin he chose to keep the wrong right-handed third baseman in Milwaukee. Many of us wanted him back and now he's reminding us why. Good luck Jeff!
  14. Don't blow Villanueva on this game...come on! We might need him for a close game on Sat or Sun. This one is over the way we're being shut down by Bonser. It should be Dessens time (wave the white flag Ned!)
  15. If weeks is shelved, and can't go for a while, or even if he continues to struggle, lets go get a freaking bat! They're happy with Graffanino and Counsell. Why else would they throw millions of dollars at those clowns? They must be.
  16. I have no sympathy for Cappy here. He dug his own grave by walking the bases loaded. He deserved to get his rear-end handed to him there. Get some runs!!!
  17. Doug Davis-itis for Cappy tonight. Not good.
  18. I can see Jose takeing Elmer role down the Road even though the man need to apolize to his teamates. And you, my friend, need to apologize to the English language and pick up a Webster's dictionary before you type.
  19. Watch, Cirillo gets the traditional former Brewer booing. He better not. He's one of my top 5 favorite Brewers of all time. Talk about a guy who repeatedly said he loved the city and a few weeks back he said he thought the Brewers would take the NL Central. He holds no ill will and it was Doug Melvin that felt Graffanino was the better fit at 3B for the team. I hope he gets a nice round of applause.
  20. Exactly, a true ace will bunt their way on, steal 2nd, steal 3rd, and get sacrificed in when their team isn't hitting... ot he'll just hit a HR themself. Now that's a real ace! I see a lot of these posts mocking fans who think pitchers have no control over wins. Sheets proved today that while run support may be limited, he understood that each and every pitch needed to be almost perfect in order to maintain the slim lead his team provided for him. Thus, he did have a say in whether he got the W or the L. He knew that his team wasn't going to score a whole bunch of runs so it's the job of the 'ace' to shut 'em down and lock the door on a close game.
  21. Ok Bucksman4... that pretty much settles it huh? Sheets is an ace right? I called Sheets out yesterday when I wrote the second post on this thread saying that an ace's job is to stop a losing streak. I give Benny 100% credit for doing just that. My early critique of him was that he gets in trouble because his fastball is fast but really has little if no movement to it. In the yahoo recap the following was posted: Victorino said Sheets baffled the Phillies. "He seems like he's hittable because his ball is so straight," Victorino said. "But he's not. You see the ball, but you can't put a swing on it." I was able to watch this on MLB.TV and when asked during the game how Sheets looked, I gave him the due diligence and complimented him on his good stuff today. I want him to succeed as much as the next Brewer fan does, and I call it as I see it. Hopefully, there'll be a lot more of these W's from Big Ben.
  22. Man Ueck kills me when he starts to get excited like its going out and then its caught. Jenks got good wood on it but nothing has been carrying all day to RF. Gross's went out to left centerfield.
  23. I just want to know how Sheets has looked so far. He is pitching well today. The hitters seem to be behind his fastball and even though his curveballs are not locating for strikes, he's getting some to bite on it. He's using it mostly as a setup pitch today for his fastball that's touching as high as 98mph today. Gary "Sarge" Matthews, the TV color man for the Phills is annoying me every time the Phillies hit by saying that Sheets will give up some runs today because he keeps pounding them with fastballs and the Phills hitters are great fastball hitters. They sure haven't shown me that they can do anything with Sheets' heater today.
  24. I'm watching this on MLB.TV and TG Jr. had 3 pretty darn good AB's today even though the box score shows an 0-3. It's reminding me of what a leadoff hitter should do. It's reminiscent of Podsednik back in the day when he was good for us.
  25. I don't care if you can throw 98 mph. If your fastball is straight as an arrow and never has any movement on it, you'll get shelled.
