  1. Geez...just when you thought Graffy couldn't look any worse. He's swinging in the dirt to K. He's killing us right now. He can take his counterpart Counsell with him too...unbelievably bad. Now these are 2 signings I will fault Melvin for.
  2. This offense is stagnant. What did you expect against Penny? If you think we're going to tear the cover off the ball against an all-star starter....all I can say is some people's expectations are a little too unrealistic.
  3. Yeah, real die-hard fan talk there. You can be a die-hard and a realist at the same time. I predicted we would win 90 games this year. Why must people judge you or call you out as a non-diehard when you speak your mind? It's very humerous when people try and vent their frustrations out on others. We can take 2 from SD...chill out man.
  4. Good for you. Some people here actually cheer for their team to win... Yeah because I want the Brewers to lose tonight. That's why I predicted the series was over. Come on bro, this one was over before it started. Whether I want them to win with all my heart and soul, it's sometimes quite obvious when an L is coming.
  5. I declared this series over last night after we lost. Someone here actually thought we would beat Penny? Haha. Funny stuff. Onward to SD!
  6. Honestly, is the only reason Braun is still down in Nashville because of that arbitration deadline to clear in June?
  7. Well we just lost this series. Penny won't lose tomorrow. He's on freakin' fire. Onward to SD we go.
  8. Atta boy John (as Vin Scully is calling him). On that note, Scully is amazing. On this AB, I learned Johnny worked at an institution for the mentally ill making $7/hr and it taught him the value of a dollar. He also talked about his father making him play catcher when he was 12 yr old and Johnny didn't like that because he saw himself more as a pitcher and SS. The same year he made him switch-hit, leading to a very good career which says "father knows best" as Vin put.
  9. Sheets has been fine. I was referring to the pitches he left up on the HR by Martin and double for Kent. Wolf is making our hitters look lousy here.
  10. No movement whatsoever. Thanks for remembering my posts from his last start, rluz. It means a lot to me that you're paying close attention to what I say. I'll keep up the memorable posts!
  11. No movement whatsoever. Straight fastball right up the gut. Players who sit back and know its coming can shell it.
  12. but let's get off that topic in the IGT the rest of the night...and talk about the actual game. Agreed. I'll man-up and say that you did get me with the Zambrano gamelog from last year with his run support. I should've picked another example, I guess http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif . I just want this team to do well and get as many W's as possible just like everyone else. Let's win a series tonight!
  13. mikerollins...very detailed synopsis. Briefly, Sheets is not one of the top 3 pitchers in baseball, sorry but you have Brewers goggles on there, pal. I can't believe I have to type this again, but I do not feel wins are the end-all be all, BUT I will say that some are quick to toss it out as a meaningless category if it does not back their points. Didn't our own GM use WINS as a key reason to get Suppan this off-season highlighting "Suppan has more wins than Zito in the last 3 years." Is Melvin unknowledgable about baseball, too? There is something to a guy who has a winning mentality. It means I will bear down and shut a team down if that's what it takes to win.when your team needs it, REGARDLESS of whether or not they are on a "winning" team. Case in point, last year the Cubs were 66-96, YET Carlos Zambrano was 16-7. So....techically a good pitcher on a bad team (like people argue Ben Sheets was for many years) CAN actually win. What?!? Really? Yeah, it's called an opponent BA of .206. Someone who can shut the door on an opponent even when his own team can't score runs to back him up. A good pitcher finds a way to win...no matter what. Call me stupid, call me cluless on sabermetrics, or just plain ignorant if you will, but I know baseball and I know one cannot discount a meaningful stat like wins. Why would they make such a big deal about 300 win pitchers if it wasn't important?
  14. You can ask for anything you want but it's unrealistic to expect it. Why is it unrealistic? What's the point in the word 'ace' if you're not supposed to hold him to a higher standard than the rest of your rotation. Anyone who knows baseball knows you look to your ace to be the stopper in preventing losing streaks. We all know bucksman has a distorted unrealistic idea that aces go 8 IP with 1 less ER than they need to win every single game. No real need to bring it up again. Very uneducated comment. I didn't know such bitterness ensues when you knock everyone's beloved Ben. If you listen to Sparky from WSSP, he has it right. The guy can't put together more than one good season and everyone goes ga-ga over the guy for some reason. Just because a guy can throw 96 mph doesn't mean he's great, just so you all know that. His fastball is very hittable as it has little, if no movement.
  15. Let me preempt Bucksman4's post and say that "Sheets needs to win this in order to prove that he's an ace." Anything less then a complete game shutout and we should trade him for a sack of big league chew. Hilarious. I called Sheets out last game because we were in a 4-game losing streak and I said an ace would STOP the losing streak before it got out of hand. Is that too much to ask? Don't get so sensitive when someone says something negative about Sheets. Please don't lose sleep over what I think of Sheets.
  16. Gotta make things a little interesting, ya know. Bear down Soooooup!
  17. Get TGJ out of the lineup now...he sucks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  18. Dang! He got around realllllly quickly on that pitch. The pitcher could care less about the runs allowed...he's just happy to have his head still attached to his shoulders. Way to go Rickie!
  19. I guess it's just a matter of preference then. I like my hitting-machine type guys like Estrada. Guys where it's almost guaranteed they will see the ball well and give a good lick up there at the plate. I've always liked those hitters who made hitting seem almost effortless. It never seems like Johnny is shaken out there at the plate and I'm always confident in him when he's up there. If he keeps it up like he's going now, that 5-spot will be his for the rest of the year.
  20. Don't feel like you're picking on me. I'll stick by Estrada in the 5-spot no matter what the numbers say. I watch the games. I know who puts the ball in play. I know who gets the hits consistently. I know who can play both against righties and lefties and hit consistently. I know Yost does not want to put Jenks in the 5-spot because then he would have to switch his whole batting order every time he faces a lefty. With Estrada there, he can keep his 3-5 spots consistent.
  21. Yes Estrada is a good hitting catcher. That doesn't mean he should hit 5th. I'm glad Ned Yost is the manager and not you. I'll take a .300 hitting batter in the 5-spot on my team any day of the week. Note: I know Estrada is hitting .285 right now but it'll be .300 in no time.
  22. It was a nice homer, but us "stat geeks" like to look at more than one at-bat. At least you're man enough to admit it, jloos19. Give me a guy who puts the ball in play anyday over a K machine. I don't need stats to tell me putting the ball in play gives yourself a better chance at finding your way on base.
  23. Who complained about my Johnny in the 5-hole? All you stats geeks can eat it!
  24. I, for one, love the lineup. I think moving Billy down is the right thing to do at this time. I am also happy that Gwynn Jr. is still in the lineup even with Weeks back. It adds a speed dimension to the top of the lineup kind of like what Pierre and Castillo brought to the Marlins a few years back. And I like Estrada remaining in the 5-hole. He may have his detractors because of his OBP but the dude can flat out rake and he hasn't even gotten hot yet. Need I remind or inform some here that he hit cleanup for the D-Backs last year for a duration of time. Let's play ball!
