  1. I'm not "blaming the fans" for the Brewers' play, but "Brewer fans" at MP have booed this team harder than they ever did the 2002 and 2003 squads. This season has really turned into a major bummer, but that is ridiculous.
  2. I wish they could give me the capacity to imagine--they have been really bad by any rate lately. But this does provide perspective. If they don't take the division this year (and really, talent-wise there's absolutely no reason they shouldn't), I hope they at least make a go of it. There's still a month and half of ball yet and I will be truly disheartened for the future if they completely fold it up.
  3. Interesting...I'd always wondered the story about that when I saw it on baseball-reference
  4. The Cards only 2.5 back? The Cubs will be .5! The barbarians are at the gate.
  5. I tried the apathetic route and then they would do something that made me wildly frustrated and I realized I can't fake my apathy.
  6. I'm confused by this post...are you seeking congratulations for calling something that hasn't happened yet? People have been thinking this team is done since late June.
  7. If you're washing and caring for them like you should, they shouldn't be snot encrusted.
  8. St. Louis has been annoying me more and more the last few years...some of their fans have gotten increasingly obnoxious at MP (all I've got is anecdotal evidence!), the whole "Best fans in baseball" self-congratulation made me gag, Pujols and Rolen are unlikeable (I'm one of the few who actually likes TLR) and don't get me started on their DUI issues...or Andujar and '82, of course. The enemy of your enemy isn't always your friend, but I guess they will do.
  9. When my father-in-law passed about five years back I got his set of old handkerchiefs (clean and neatly folded of course)...at first I was apathetic and maybe even disgusted by the thought of using them, but I've really come to appreciate them. They just strike me as a more easily manageable than a wad of tissues, and they look, well, classier as well. I always keep one in my inside jacket pocket. Like Mike said though, get a bunch of them since you'll go through them like socks.
  10. Oh no: "I don't see it as pressure to me at all," Gallardo said. "It's tough. You've still got to go out and battle." Somebody get Ned away from Yo and his translator!
  11. Ah, I didn't know they had that make up game...in that case I'll take the split too.
  12. Maybe I should have wrote that in blue.
  13. Well, with the clock near midnight on the Cubs (literally and figuratively), the blow a wild one at home to the Reds...they're a worse wreck than even we are right now and I wouldn't mind seeing them kicked while they're down, esp. since they are (for now) in second place.
  14. "Crapuano," huh? Did you make that up yourself? As a good guy at the very least, I think he deserves more respect than that. At any rate, I'm OK with him getting one more. I'm not sold there's a much more viable option right now.
  15. I know a lot of it depends on who wins both games tomorrow (and assuming the Reds hold on tonight) but I have to say either way I'd like to see the Cards take two of three. (consolidated tags --1992)
  16. Right now these guys can't even inspire a good vent. Talk about slouching into the home stretch.
  17. Government and education jobs a-plenty
  18. Heh, and which one would that be at this point? I still think it'll go down to one game, which I'd be more than OK with. Two, fine. Having all three would be problematic but we'd have to make do.
  19. Yeah, I'm not surprised either...I do think it'll be down to 1 game after the inevitable appeal.
  20. It's like two jalopies racing each other at 10 mph and oh look, here comes a guy on a burro at about 9 mph
  21. I'm angry the '82 team had to be present for this.
  22. And how can we forget
  23. i worry about any game west of the mississippi...the farther west we go the more often we have those deer in the headlight road trips. Normally I'd agree but I feel really good about the Brewers' chances of getting two of three in San Francisco. I watched the Giants get worked by the Nationals and Pirates at AT&T last week post-756 and they looked cooked outside of Rajai Davis.
  24. I think the vast majority of them take a different view than a potential 6 game sweep by the Cubs.
