  1. Pathfinder was the most ridiculous and idiotic movie I've paid to watch in a long while...I put it on at 2 AM after coming back from the bar last weekend, and needless to say, given my state I was highly entertained. I can't conceive anyone thinking of Children of Men as a terrible movie...overrated, perhaps, but not terrible. But to each their own. I do agree about Zodiac, however. I rented The Puffy Chair last week, too...slightly amusing and very disjointed indie romantic-comedy (I think you could classify it as that) that I enjoyed but my wife despised...most on IMDB seem to agree with my wife.
  2. Nothing is worse than Hawk Harrelson, not even Santo (who I actually find pretty charming despite his evil affiliations)
  3. Cubs lose. No jinx, but this makes me feel better about the possibility of the Crew being up by .5 going into Wrigley next week.
  4. Maybe SF can finally hold on to a lead today
  5. I got a call from a friend at 11 asking if I wanted to play hookie and go to this game...unfortunately I have a meeting at 3, otherwise I'd have been all over it--I am OK with just rooting against the Cubs. Cain and Zambrano looking good so far....I was hoping Zambrano would have a meltdown at the bottom of the 2nd there though...it just never materialized.
  6. Anyone up for another go-round with Gary Glover?!?
  7. I remember about five or six years ago writers and bloggers picking apart the Twins and Marlins' rosters for an almost certainly upcoming dispersal draft...Doug Mientkiewicz was going to be a Brewer, etc
  8. Texas Rangers...Arlington, as it were.
  9. James Shields and even Baldelli with his injuries go much lower, too
  10. The Pirates would be absolutely nuts to take Willis first but I wouldn't put it past them.
  11. Why oh why does every game have to count the same?!? In all seriousness it stinks that we just take 2 of 3 in Phoenix and still end up a game back. But those games in DC and Dallas are coming back to bite us now.
  12. Arizona's probably wondering what the Crew is doing that they can't figure out...the Brewers are 5-1 against them so far this season.
  13. Three of the Brewers' road series wins have come against strong playoff contenders.

  15. I'm wondering if this Sunday rainout will affect us down the road...save for next Monday (and even that might run afoul of union rules), I don't believe there's a reasonable time for the teams to make this up before the end of the year, and I assume it will only be done if there are playoff implications. I'd like to hope that if there are playoff implications, the Brewers would be part of them, but how nerve-wracking would it be to sit and hope one of these teams lose in a makeup game to avoid having a one-game playoff? On the other hand, rooting for a team to win so we can get into a one-game playoff would be nerve-wracking but exciting.
  16. Harsh burn. That was Mr. Rosso.

  18. Wow, some all-timers have worn the great #18, uff da Speaking of... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b0/WVTV-TV_Logo_1979-1987.jpg
  19. Nice. Good post/av, too Anyway , my vote is for Ueck...his ruddy features even strike me as the Brewers personified if we wanna get literal.
  20. Peace out, Nedley...you got us near the crest but you can't get us to the top
  21. Same old story, same old song-and-dance What an incredible disappointment this team is right now.
  22. OK, Mr. Caps, et. al. I didn't claim that this team's recent performance is worthy of respect. But the fact of the matter is, regardless of what has happened, this is the same team that had a 46-32 record and a 7.5 game lead in the division on June 27th. The same team. It's the middle of August and as bad as things have gone, the Brew Crew is still in it. This team has bought us closer to the Promise Land than any Brewers team in the last 15 years has but people seem determined to pretend they are as hopeless as the 2002 team and treat them as worthy of scorn. Well, things may be going badly right now, but I don't buy it. They have played well and they are in second place as of August 17th: regardless of what has happened recently, they have earned respect which they are not getting. That's not to say that that is good enough. The fans of this team have waited too long. Again, this is the vent thread and I'm as angry as anyone at their recent play because they have played terribly and I know things can be better. We should all know they can play better, because they have. But that's not to say that they deserve the garbage they've received, only the garbage they've earned. Which, relatively, is not a lot. I'm still incredibly upset and disappointed, but come on...there's no dignity in a dogpile.
  23. That said, this is the vent and I'm disgusted with the way they've played since late June.
  24. You make it sound like they're out of contention. Things are bad rright now and may well get worse but this team has earned our respect.
  25. Wow, congrats: you win. You told everyone, and the Brewers and the fans who chose to believe just wouldn't listen. You showed 'em!
