  1. I think they should play with the expectation that they, the Brewers, need to win, and not consider what else is going on. The Cubs' magic number is only four. The Brew Crew needs help, of course, but even if they get elimnated later this week I'd rather they not be like Alfonso Soriano, who explained away his crummy September in Washington last year by saying he had nothing to play for. That's pretty unprofessional.
  2. I hope that's a form of messageboard comedic art If not, WOAH SOLVDD Go Crew
  3. LouisEly and I noticed in San Francisco that Weeks and some of the other players definitely were watching the scoreboard between innings last month Scoreboard on or off, I'm pretty sure the Crew knows they need to go at least 5-1, and most likely 6-0 down the stretch here to have any kind of realistic hope whatsoever and shouldn't be distracted.
  4. Wow. Between that and posting the video in the IGT, 20fry is the bf.net Player of the Week
  5. Ned Yost cracked me up for maybe the first time ever today.
  6. I'll say what I've said before...I'd seriously take a 75-87 season with a 10-24 beginning over this one at this point. I'm absolutely gutted, and for the condescending, self-entitled Cubs' fanbase to take the division (it's only been four years since they were last in the playoffs, they're suffering sooooo bad!) makes it that much worse. I hate baseball with a passion right now, and this season is going to sear until next April.
  7. 1. I went out of my way to avoid baseball this morning, so I didn't find out about todays's Brewers' loss/Cubs win until after football today, so at least I've numbed the pain (by trying to ignore it) if not recovered yet. 2. Spring Training is about five months away. Hope Springs Attorney.
  8. Normally I get over even these really bad losses within a couple hours but I'm still gutted right now
  9. If you're being sarcastic, that's not what I'm getting at at all...but I do believe that Coco deserves a large share of the blame for the loss.
  10. Weeks' error doesn't happen if Coco doesn't serve up a meatball to a .218 PH. Neither does Miller's pants-wetting in the 11th for that matter. Why are people trying to diminish the home run?
  11. Yeah, me too. My reverse psychology strategy is not working. Sorry, nothing personal of course.
  12. Yeah, just that one homer... Coco deserves the blame as much or more than anyone today. Coco's job is to close the game whether it's 1 run, 3 runs, or 10 runs. He didn't do his job today, and relatively it's no different than a starter going out and giving up six or seven earned runs in a few innings' work. Maybe worse. Yeah, it's a big burden. And that's not to say Coco hasn't had a good year, or that these things don't happen. But to give up a tying homer to Scott freaking Thorman at a point in the game and the season when we really needed it least was a huge failure on his part.
  13. I'd like to drop an atom bomb on this thread right now
  14. Yeah, I don't know why I said that today really, I think I'm just used to thinking it the last week
  15. It seems like these guys just find new ways to break our hearts, doesn't it?
  16. I wonder if this would bother me nearly as much if we were losing the division to the Cards or Reds or Astros or Pirates Doubtful. What a nightmare this season has been, if it was going to be like this I'd rather switch places with St. Louis. I'm just happy I don't live in Chicago any more, I'm absolutely certain I'd have gotten into a fight by now.
  17. This is a low I'm as angry at Coco and Miller and Jenks and Hall and Weeks today as I was at Yost Wednesday night, which was a lot
  18. That brings up a good point. Can anyone in Milwaukee or even Wisconsin tell me if Yost is an actual issue there in the papers or on TV (I assume he's getting murdered on radio)? As a cheesehead ex-pat 2000+ miles away I feel like maybe my perspective is skewed hanging around here.
  19. And by "not" he means "not capable of". Yep, I watched about 10 games along the LF line just beyond third this year at AT&T Park and Bonds is a major, major defensive liability...no team but the 2007 San Francisco Giatns would likely put up with it. I really love the idea of Bonds in a Rays' uni...maybe they could get Sosa and sign McGwire and Canseco (rename them the Cash Brothers) out of retirement too and have Hit Show II: HGH Boogaloo.
  20. The thing about it, as I've said before, is that they'll actually (I think...) meet my hopes for the season--a winning record and contending til the last week. But what a roundabout, crummy way to do it. Man. And to the worst possible team, too. The Ramirez walkoff game and the Uecker boo game have soldered the hate in my heart for all things Cub from here 'til eternity.
  21. I'm not convinced they won't lose two more times this weekend after that stale job tonight...and we have to count on the Pirates, Reds and Marlins? Are you kidding me? Last night's loss looms large.
  22. Updated after tonight Cubs rec...Brewers to tie...Brewers to win 0-9....2-8...3-7 1-8....3-7...4-6 2-7....4-6...5-5 3-6....5-5...6-4 4-5....6-4...7-3 5-4....7-3...8-2 6-3....8-2...9-1 7-2....9-1...10-0 8-1....10-0...N/A 9-0....N/A...N/A Like I said in the IGT, we're kinda up a creek here Edit: Oops.

  24. To be fair, it's exteremely difficult to tell them apart as of late.
