  1. The bleachers at County (and to a lesser extent, MP) had the same amount of drunken idiocy. I agree that they've got a real problem over there with their drunks getting on the field, however.
  2. I'm really surprised by how many people on this board seem to think that Linebrink is giving half-effort towards getting back. Sure, it would have been great to have him the last few days but his wife's condition hardly strikes me as a bad excuse. He should be with her.
  3. I actually thought this was pretty funny.
  4. The Brewers are about to be in second place, 7-6 now with a man on and Lee at bat The Cubs can come back from being down, way down...we're exactly the opposite, both game and season-wise Ugh
  5. In all seriousness Kremblas would be my first choice but I think Yost should be able to stay if they get over 82 wins
  6. Frank and Rickie are probably working the hotel bar right now http://www.nashvillescene.com/Stories/News/2005/05/19/Swimsuit_Photos6.jpg "Hello ladies."
  7. To quote Rluz:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/SeriesFinale75/Sinking_Ship-1.jpg
  8. That momentum just cleared the fence with Jenks' homerun, never to be seen again
  9. It honestly hurts me to read for Pirates fans.
  10. This could possibly fit into any number of threads, most likely the vent--I say that because I can't imagine pople being able to constructively agree or disagree with this--but I feel it's worth saying: Why is it that Cubs fans seem to think their "suffering" is so important, or at least more so than other teams? Yes, they haven't made a World Series since 1945. A harsh realm which I enjoy pointing out to certain friends on occasion. But if the average baseball fan is about 40 or so, their fan base is hardly alone in not seeing a World Series in their lifetime. Playoffs? As of right now, about half the league has had a longer drought, including many (of course including our own Milwaukee Brewers) who haven't seen the playoffs in three, four, five, EIGHT times that long. Of course these droughts aren't the fault of the Cubs or their fans. If only, right? And I know there are Cubs fans in nursing homes (or--and I do say this seriously--sadly, the grave) that haven't seen the World Series. But spare me the self-flagellation about your suffering, Cubs fan--as a Brewers' fan I'd have killed for the last 25 years the Cubs have had, and that includes Bartman and the rest. You guys have had it relatively very good. You absolutely do not corner the market on suffering. I do say this considering I'd rather they be jerks about losing than jerks about winning. Either way, hopefully this year won't add to our own personal misery. Edit #3: I wish I could blame Cubs fans on me not being able to figure out how to blue-color text on Yuku, but I'll blame that on the beer instead
  11. Quote? He's definitely been vociferous (along with veteran members of the team) about the Brewers playing their own game and not panicking and pressing (which is something a young club needs to hear), but that doesn't translate to apathy or a devil-may-care attitude from Nedley. I definitely co-sign the vent that they have been terrible on the road but I will save that vent (and hopefully not have to use it) until next week.
  12. I can imagine responding to this thread could very well be a fireable offense
  13. Welcome, (reasonable) Cubs fans. Being one of the very few Brewerfan apologists for the Cubs and their fans, I wouldn't mind Melvin and Hendry's toast this week that the Brewers and Cubs both make the playoffs coming true; I just hope that if it does, it's the Brew Crew that takes the division.
  14. Nothing reasonable to say here that hasn't already been said elsewhere on bf.net tonight (I'm not a defeatist nor an apologist...nor a "realist," for that matter)...I'm just saying this for anecdotal sake. I went to my work's neighborhood local at 5 PM PST tonight all psyched after last night and the fact I rarely get to see the lads play on TV out here...I held out hope, even after Vargas' bed-pooping in the 2nd and 3rd, and then, even after the game was over, I stuck around and rooted for the Phils with the Scottish bartender (who has a longshot Vegas bet from June that Philadelphia wins it all). After the Cubs took the game and their share of first place, I just walked out of the bar to the Muni station home, and almost immediately pass a bum with schizophrenia and/or Tourette's screaming at the top of his lungs, "GOD! DAMMIT! #$%^!! &$%*!!! PIIIIIIIGS!!!!" "My sentiments exactly," I thought. That's all I can say about tonight. Go Crew. It's only August, and you guys have the tools to do it not just next year and the year after, but this year. (Maybe that turned into a Silver Lining Thread post)
  15. You guys are missing the best part...the guy's screen name was "PyroDice."
  16. I just hope the game itself is a reenactment of Game 1 and not Game 6 (or, of course, 7)
  17. Oh my...seeing Gordon Ash's visage in the larger avs several times a day is going to take some getting used to
  18. I should finally give myself my standard avatar since I can finally see it. Looks like it has added a few steps for posting images but I'll get the shortcuts eventually. This is nice though.
  19. LOOKING GOOD http://www.geocities.com/chicoandtheman22/coverphotocrunchedframe.jpg
  20. Seriously, if your life is so tied up in posting "GET WISE OUT OF THERE YOST!!!111!!" on an internet message board during a game, I don't know what to tell you at this point. Please...these are just petty intrigues. I could just as easily say that if the mods' lives are tied up in what was a goofy and annoying gimmick, I don't know what to tell you. It's condecending, unnecessary, and not true. I can tell you that I certainly wasn't thinking or complaining about this anywhere but bf.net last night. And I wish the "lack of respect" thing would get dropped. We all agree that a good job is done here by the mods, people were just naturally inclined to want to discuss a big game.
  21. Not to take the thread in another direction, but they have some pretty legitimate complaints over there At any rate, the only silver lining I get through schaedenfraude involves a certain team on the North Side of Chicago. Even then I have a tendency to feel bad for my Cubs fan friends.
  22. Looking forward to it, esp. the better search capabilities.
  23. I think at the least, it prevented what could have been a capping downturning-point week.
  24. How long does everyone think Rickie will be down on the farm? Is there any rhyme or is just the reason?
