  1. What "looks real" to anyone about this--it's a random list on a random website with no context at all.
  2. Another gushing article about TGJ in San Diego, this time from ESPN. "How did the Brewers re-pay Little T in 2008? They tried to replace him." As if the hit against Hoffman (which was much more devastating to the Pads than it was celebratory to the Crew) was the be-all, end-all of TGJ's '07 season--his Milwaukee career, for that. Theer's a reason he wasn't picked up by anyone at the beginning of the year. Best of luck to TGJ in SD, but Milwaukee had seen enough of him.
  3. Wow, as someone who went to college in Beloit and spent a lot of time working and living in the community, that was kind of hard to watch, to be honest.

  5. Ugh. That said, it kinda reminds me of an article in that Brewers' free program they gave out at MP in '06 (don't know if they're still doing it, I'd be surprised) about how the team was trying to reach out and have a presence in Milwaukee's African-American community that they apparently really did not have for a long time by holding events, etc. I remember one of the quotes being a pre-teen African-American girl squealing for Rickie Weeks, etc, pretty funny/awesome Anyway, glad they're doing these--the Brewers really do do a great job of outreach (although I can't recall seeing one chat session this year--those were awesome last year, I esp. liked the Corey and Shousie ones).
  6. Altidore looked gassed in the first half, really. This team definitely missed Bradley in that second half, and those substitutions were questionable at the time and look even worse afterwards.
  7. Imagine being Jonathan Sanchez, coming out to do mop-up duty in a blowout that you were supposed to start, and the first thing they have you do is drill a guy
  8. Pretty weak time to take a shot at Prince. I hope Kung Fu Panda takes one in the back next SF series
  9. I'll probably feel better about a 3-2 loss to Brazil in a FIFA final in a few days, but for now, ouch. At the least I still have higher hopes for next year's World Cup
  10. Between this predictable weak showing against a AAA pitcher and the US NMST blowing a 2-0 lead in the Confed final, this has been the worst sports day in a long while
  11. Hot knife to the gut. Angry and sad at the same time. The "frosting" to this mud-pie is having to hear the likes of Harkes and Lalas trying to play it up as a moral victory--Donovan's right, there's no guarantee they'll be back to a FIFA final any time soon, and as good as Brazil is, that was a total bitter breakdown.
  12. Why does this place have to be the Giants' Bastille? There is no collection of World Series trophies in the Miller Park lobby. The word "Brewers" does not make strong men weep. Why so much anguish - predictable anguish - every time?
  13. Actually, yes, there's plenty of doubt. There isn't some Mason-Dixon (Cheech-Chong?) Line that indicates whether someone purchased marijuana grown and sold out of Mexico or Canada, and those are far from the only places in this hemisphere (in this country) alone where it's grown and sold from.
  14. Unfortunately, I have to agree that in this particular situation, the question of whether or not pot should be tested for in MiLB (much less should it be legalized, whether it's addictive, etc) is ultimately irrelevant. However, I disagree that it's silly to discuss it--these issues can't help but be lashed to the topic at hand.
  15. Yeah, I was really upset that they sent Kendall out instead of Gerut and that probably would've been one of my first complaints if the Crew had lost that game. Oh man, I can't even imagine if Kendall had been gunned down at home on that Corey hit. Speaking of, I'm a little surprised that wasn't closer--it seemed like Rowand got to it right away and seemed to get a great throw off but it died in the infield and even Jason was able to make it in standing.
  16. I listened to this one on the Giants' flagship coming home from Santa Cruz (home of Casey McGehee, as we were reminded several times) on California Highway 1, between the cliffs and the coast, and got home just in time for the bottom of the ninth...fantastic, what an experience. That was one roller coaster of a game, maybe my favorite of the year. Being able to see that Cam catch in the post-game was the frosting. I was really impressed with the way the MP crowd sounded over KNBR tonight--huge and loud, and Kuip and Dave Flemming mentioned it a few times.
  17. Hasn't Schumaker been doing pretty well for them this year? Where does he go now? (I admit I haven't been paying a ton of attention to them) Regardless, can't say I'm happy about since it obviously provides them with more versatility. Mase is right though that it'd be silly to counter-move for counter-move's sake. Obviously we have gaping problems, but wait for the right deal...if it comes.
  18. I wouldn't want to face one drunk, either, and we know there is alcohol in most clubhouses. This also assumes he's pitching stoned. I have a few beers after work every so often, drink a bottle of wine with my wife on weekends, and yeah, a puff now and again, but I don't do it when I have other responsibilities (driving, work, whatever), and most people don't. Again, this is silly to me. I agree that Jeffress is an idiot for even chancing it knowing what the rules are, but the rule itself is specious to me, and I think that's a fair statement to make in this conversation--it's not "besides the point."
  19. Duane Kuiper, one of the Giants' announcers (and Racine lad), had a pretty funny line tonight: (dry as a bone) "Bradley...he's...he's not having a good time in Chicago, is he?"
  20. I don't necessarily disagree with you, yount19.u, but I also feel these are legitimate questions that are hard to extricate from the issue at hand.
  21. I agree whole-heartedly with these statements. But my main issue here is the MiLB testing for it. Why? It (clearly) doesn't enhance performance. I understand that it's illegal, but what other laws are they making sure their employees aren't breaking in their spare time? Maybe they should set up a speed trap just outside the stadium. Forget the IRS; let's have Bob Miscik audit their taxes this year. Silly.
  22. Definitely makes me feel better about the prospects of a series win. The next two games should be pretty funny whatwith these starting pitchers. Even with the Giants' offense involved I get the suspicion we'll see 25-30 more runs this series! Anyway, I like having the Brewers on local TV here, since their post-game shows actually air the FSN North interviews with the Brew Crew. Yes, folks: this is a big night for me....I finally heard Yovani Gallardo's voice!
  23. Solo: Human Nature, PYT, Don't Stop Til You Get Enough, Lady in My Life, Butterflies J5: ABC, Mama's Pearl, Blame It On The Boogie, Never Can Say Goodbye
  24. Ugh, can't say I'm pleased with him, but I'm much more upset that it possibly (likely?) affected his ability to pitch than that he smokes marijuana. Frankly, many of the smartest, most accomplished people I know do (I probably shouldn't say too much more about my opinion lest this turns political). However, of course, he's not in the position to do so and apparently can't handle it, so hopefully this will be the smack across the back of the head he needs. I'm surprised that I've heard people elsewhere on the internet call for him to be DFA'd. Even if he doesn't have anywhere near a Josh Hamilton-like addiction (and I don't think he does, but I don't know), that just doesn't make sense to me at this juncture.
