  1. Jeez, that doesn't sound good...how long is he looking to be out?
  2. Nats or not, this is a major-league team and I was watching that inning through my fingers True, I can't imagine the Cubs not driving in at least one run in that situation, but I think Bush did his part there as well.
  3. I'm a little surprised that this was a waiver-wire deal They need the bat and I like the cost but it should be fun watching Dunn huff and puff around that spacious outfield in Phoenix
  4. Yeah, I'm following on the internet and saw he got PH for in the 3rd and rushed over here I'll feel better if he's back in the lineup Monday
  5. Answer: always. Unfortunately I'm 2500 miles away.
  6. Like angst-ridden teens and nutbag Tom Fortuny, I just have a LJ: http://seriesfinale.livejournal.com/ Nothing special, I blurt something out every now and again, usually of slight substance.
  7. Interesting when you look at this from an outsider perspective...in that case it's far and away Fielder, even past Braun. Driver might not even make the Top 10.
  8. It's a really tasty cheap dog, the drinks are so-so but a NYC tradition, and they seem to be everywhere and open late
  9. Sorry I couldn't have given you the heads up...the traditional summer months are some of the worst times to be here. On my side of town, closer to the Pacific on the other side of the fog line, we sometimes don't see the sun for a couple days because of the marine layer. Best time to visit San Francisco (Northern California in general) is March-May--so green and florid after rainy season and blue skies abound. Next best is September through November. December's OK and January/February are rainy. I agree about New Orleans being so much more than Bourbon Street, too...I actively try to avoid the place excpet for maybe one night a trip. Nothing like an afternoon with some beers and music at the Rock N' Bowl or dinner at Bayona in the Quarter or walking through the old oaks in City Park or a drive in the surrounding rural areas while listening to WWOZ.
  10. And make sure to hit some Papaya King at 4 AM!
  11. I want to amend my list: New Orleans. My favorite city for many years (I even got married there), it's been off my radar the last few since I moved west/the storm
  12. London and the South of England New York City San Francisco--I loved it as a tourist before I moved here. I love going up to Mendocino I have deep fondness in my heart for Sarasota, where I grew up, and the Kickapoo Valley/Wildcat Mountain State Park area, where my family is from, and don't mind spending my vacations visiting family in those places.
  13. Mussolini, obviously. Which is why I'm rooting for the Cards to take two.
  14. Fantastic. IMDB and YouTube in a nutshell.
  15. My wife and I did it all the way up (lots of drinks, lots of apps and small plates, desserts, etc) at three pretty great and relatively affordable restaurants--Toloache, Otto, and Blue Hill--for dinner at about $500 total for the three meals. Obviously there are much cheaper options than that, too (as well as much pricier options), but point being you can get a nice and big meal without completely breaking the bank.
  16. I was just there this past weekend and did a lot of the same stuff you're planning--a couple afternoon hours at Barcade, Yankees game, Coney Island. I don't have much to add, really. I'd recommend renting bikes for a couple hours to tool around Central Park in. I'm also big on just walking neighborhoods. After moving to SF from Chicago, I don't get good Ukrainian food as often, so I always like going to Veselka when I'm there--they serve big bottles of Russian beer to enjoy while you eat your blintzes and veal goulash.
  17. This makes me nearly as angry and embarrassed as the on-field product this week. This sounds straight out of the Selig days and is completely unnecessary. Heck, just move the team to Naperville, Mark.
  18. Spilt milk. It happened, and it was brutal, but better now than September.
  19. Silver Lining: the Manny deal will take a lot of national focus off this brutal mauling so I won't have to be reminded as much the next couple days.
  20. I'm ready for a good "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"-esque memory-cleaning right about now I guess a bottle of cheap plonk will have to do.
  21. I think you misunderstood me...I did think it was silly.
  22. Yeah, I couldn't help but laugh...their timing is impeccable.
  23. Way to finally show some fire three games, 8 innings and 1 out into a humilating 4-game home sweep crushing, Prince.
