  1. Just wanted to bump this thread since you know there are some cretins lurking tonight for their hit of schaedenfraude.
  2. "Thanks for the extra cash, Chicago"? Yeah, with seven straight sell-outs before this series, that's what he's thinking. It's not 2003 anymore, I'm sick of the lame "they're spending their money!" moral victory.
  3. I couldn't stand the FSN audio anymore so I turned it to the ESPN feed for a while, big mistake. Sutcliffe is unbearable. Judging by their crowd scans it looks like there are 1000 Brewers fans left in the park. What an embarrassment for the team, the organization, and the fans.
  4. Here comes Gas Can Guerillermo, too
  5. I sure wouldn't mind wrapping my hands around the throat of that annoying Cubs fan behind homeplate who does these big drama queen flops when there's a call he doesn't like and stands up to taunt our players when they strikeout You know, to give him a great big hug
  6. GAAAAAAAAAHH Wake up, guys. This is important.
  7. Extra Innings? You shouldn't get the pre-game (unfortunately).
  8. He has been one of the "under-rated" nutjobs in baseball for a long time.
  9. Anyway, I want to rant on this now since I don't want it to seem like sour grapes if the Brewers lose later.... I like Steve Goodman. I even like "A Dying Cub Fan's Last Request." I HATE "Go Cubs Go." First of all, it's a really terrible song--sounds like it should've come from the poison pen of a hack jingle writer in the Tribune's marketing department, rather than the guy who wrote "City of New Orleans." "Brewers Turnin' Up the Heat" is no walk in the park, but at least you can attribute that to goofy and occasionally misplaced 80s nostalgia. This grotesque atunal wreck is the song Cubs fans have chosen as their anthem. But when I've gotta hear it in conjunction with images of fat Schaumburg residents poured into too-tight Sosa jerseys singing it arm-in-arm with recent NIU graduates with frost tips and their orange-tan girlfriends in pink Cubs hats, it makes me wish I were Helen Keller.
  10. In theory the thread now needs to be locked since Godwin's Law was invoked.
  11. If you ever publish a book of your posts, I will buy it.
  12. Yeah, I've told this story here before, but for a couple of years when I lived in Chicago, I used to get a brochure from the Brewers meant for Cubs fans--I guess they assumed since I bought Brewers tickets and had a Chicago address, I was one. Anyway, it was for Cubs-Brewers MP games packages, and they were chockful of photos of Cubs fans whooping it up, including a few of them tailgating with Cubs flags raised in the parking lot, etc. Absolutely disgusting; I don't miss the Seligs at all.
  13. I guess it would be interesting to see how the gold standard of classy fans, Cards fans, react when the Cubs come into town. I guess it would be my dream for Brewers fans to be revered like Cards fans. Me too. I'm guessing their problem isn't as big as ours given the proximity to Chicagoland. It's been my experience that downstate, Indiana, and Iowa Cubs fans aren't nearly as insufferable as those from the suburbs or recent-college grads who moved to Wrigleyville/Lincoln Park. I guess I've just never been a big "turn the other cheek" kind of person. Maybe it's not even that--just where do they think they are?!?
  14. Yup, it was a good run tho. Playing for pride Haha Hopefully we can shoot for that winning record.
  15. Agreed. I don't mind them coming up to Milwaukee, even en masse, if they can be good visitors--like Twins and Cards fans. Go ahead, cheer on your team, just don't get rude, sloppy, loud, obnoxious, and disrespectful. But a good chunk of their fans have proven time and again that they can't. Heck, in June 1999 I watched a crummy last-place Brewers team whip a crummy second-place Cubs team from the bleachers at County. As they watched their team go down 11-4 in the 9th, the visiting Cubs fans started chanting "LAST PLACE! LAST PLACE!" as they threw their plastic cups, beery backwash and all. Now, last laugh was on them, since the Cubs finished last that year, but point being, this is nothing new. That's why I don't have an issue with Brewers fans making them feel unwelcome, outside of involving kids. Stories about drunken idiot Brewers fans riding them or even duking it out don't bother me. Make it an unpleasant atmosphere for those that want to act like they're in Wrigley. They're not, and they should know it.
  16. I'm surprisingly already over this one--last night's stuck in my craw much worse. The worst I can say about it is now the path is much clearer for a Cubs sweep, which, like many have said, would hardly be the end of the season, but pretty brutal regardless.
  17. I wasn't calling it one; merely disagreeing with your colleague that the media was "slurping" the Brewers
  18. No shutout tonight I'm also glad I now live 2100 miles away from Chicago--and Milwaukee for that matter. I'm feeling a tad on edge this evening...
  19. Agreed; whenever friends in Chicago would try and run attendance smack on me--ATTENDANCE SMACK--it blew my mind that they didn't realize that of course the market 10x Milwaukee's size 90 miles away is going to probably fill some seats at MP. If anything, I think the Brewers have had just the right amount of press the last two years, if not a wee too much.
  20. I don't think anybody predicted a domination either way this week--the media was looking forward to a series between two tightly-matched teams. And the reason why the Brewers have gotten so much press lately isn't necessarily that they picked up the best pitcher on the market; it's because they'd had the best record in baseball since late May.
  21. In all seriousness, I would like to see them put a lousy run or two on the board. I don't think that's too much to ask. Usually a loss is a loss is a loss to me, but seeing Hefty Z signifying on the Miller Park mound after a CG shutout while a bunch of big-mouthed idiots from crummy Chicago suburbs beat their chests would be difficult to watch.
  22. VVVVVVVEEEEEEENNNNNNNTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK, I feel better now
  23. This team is on the slippery steep slope to getting a split
  24. As a Brewers fan who lived in Chicago for several years, I highly disagree with this. I think a bigger problem is Brewers season ticket holders selling their to Cubs fans and spineless Brewers fans not coming out to their own home park because they're nervous about possible confrontations.
