  1. "I don't think he missed it by much" "Oh my word" Ach. Would've loved to have seen that hit the cha-cha bowl stand in leftfield.
  2. Well, I was disappointed I wouldn't get to see Cain and Lucroy tonight Thanks Macha. Anyway, yeah, that was me with Trenni. Seems a long time ago now, bah. I can never ever root against the Brewers, but I have to admit that, even with the semi-bad blood recently with the Giants, I won't entirely relish seeing them play spoilers again the locals, because I'd like to see the Giants make the plaoffs for a few reasons. That said, I want to see the Brewers do it all the same--that 4 game sweep in Milwaukee was brutal.
  3. Are you there? No, about five miles away. It's a downer but I waited too long to get tickets and couldn't really afford them right now with the town in pennant fever pitch. Maybe it's for the best, I'm 4-5 seeing them here, 4-8 on the West Coast.
  4. People ask me where Laverne and Shirley are there a lot, but I've never had a real serious issue. Probably the nastiest it ever got was the Sunday game when the Brewers swept them there ion '08, there were some chapped tails that day, but even then it was juist, "Brewers have never done anything," "Go Cubs!!!," "Sit down and shut up!!!" (when people were just cheering on the Brewers' runs in a non-confrontational way), stuff like that.
  5. Seconded. I made about 5 minutes. Anybody ready for the 16-3 run to get that winning season?!? That said I sure wish the Brewers would pick up the next two; I'd like to see them finish third in this lousy division at least, however meaningless it may be.
  6. You could easily write the same about Melvin's foibles. Of course, he's doing it with nearly half the budget. Edit: which you could argue makes it harder to live with.
  7. This was apparently inserted in the game day press notes in Miller Park for tonight's game: http://twitpic.com/2n60yj
  8. It's not a boycott...maybe more a reflection on their comparative value right now. I think I made this thread as a mea culpa more than anything...I feel deeply guilty.

  10. 1. I really like sitting behind the Brewers' dugout when I see them on the road, or at least on the lower decks--closer to the team and action and you also tend to avoid conflict with the home fans down there as well, to be frank. Well, I played with fire and got burnt: I wanted to wait to see if the cost of tickets would go down based on the Giants' performance but obviously that hasn't happened--they've only gone up as excitement about the Giants' post-season chances has grown. Should've bought them in April when they were still only about $60 a piece or so. 2. It's not just that the cost of the actual tickets that are prohibitive at this point; everything surounding the games, food/beer/etc adds up, and we've got two trips planned in the coming weeks, one to Tahoe for our anniversary the following weekend, and then one out to Chicago for the Marathon. We really need to save the money for that stuff. 3. The aforementioned Giants' playoff run. One of the best/worst games I ever attended was in 1998, when the Brewers lost to the Cubs 15-12 at Wrigley in the 9th down the stretch of the Cubs' wild-card run, and it was the worst. Not just because it was at Wrigley or the way they lost, but because everyone there had playoff fever and was amped. The Brewers were going nowhere conversely, and it felt like rooting for the Christians versus the Lions at the Colesium. Blech. 4. Lastly, I'm just not feeling the Brewers right now. I'm really disappointed and disheartened by this team. I am interested in seeing Cain and Axford and Gamel and the younger guys, not to mention the old favorites (it'd be awesome to see Cappy back especially) but with #600 out of the way and the team just playing out the string, it's hard for me to justify the cost, especially considering I already dropped $170 to see them lose everyday from the comfort of my livingroom this year. I feel compelled to attend as a Brewer fan, like I'm letting them down in a way, but man, I don't know. So it looks like I'm skipping out on seeing them here this year; first year I won't have seen them live in 14. This probably doesn't deserve it's own thread, kinda self-centered moping, but if I figured I couldn't vent here, where could I?
  11. Good one to start watching from the 5th. Heck, I'm surprised I even stuck around for the end but I'm glad I did.
  12. Kinda sounds like Big Ben is pretty disheartened and ready to hang it up if there's still pain: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/twitter/topics/contributor?q=susanslusser
  13. http://www.bostonherald.com/track/inside_track/view/20100726nesn_oops/ Not a huge story or anything, just something I thought was a little bemusing.
  14. Yeah, and the nature of it was fantastic. Most exciting win in months.
  15. This makes me sick...beyond the fact it was just a heartless, ugly week of Brewers baseball, I'm not gonna hear the end of this for a long while.
  16. Giants guys just said the Crew is 3-42 RISP this series They're sad to leave and have to go play the Nationals, that's what it's come to.
  17. This team can't even accept gifts right now I say we go for the record!
  18. I don't. In fact I despise them. The only reason to wear that to the game is to draw attention to themselves. They could have taken 5 minutes to change before going to the game, but they'd rather get on TV and get meaningless congratulations from fans around them. I hope they're sweating their asses off. I know this team is making us all a bit hair-trigger, but man I can't see them, but who cares, they're just having fun
  19. This team truly makes me miserable That should have been two more runs
  20. Giants radio guys are making it sound like Zito looks to be struggling today "...and yet he's winning by 5 runs!" They had nice stuff to say about the hummous at the Public Market at least.
  21. Hilarious, the 4th inning lasts almost 40 minutes and the Brewers half is three.
  22. What makes this much worse to me is that these were supposed to be golden years...back then I had hopes. I'm just not feeling any these days.
  23. Man, this team is really making life miserable for me in SF the last few days. Hey, and Lincecum is yet to pitch!
