  1. He is quickly losing his status as my favorite player on this team. First he goes vegetarian, now complaining about his renewal. Good thing Prince isn't eating any more fine cuts of meat. I always have to remind myself that to most players it's a business, and this sure reinforces my thoughts about Prince, not that it needed much reinforcement with the selection of Boras as his agent.
  2. That was my first thought. Is he going to stop hitting baseballs and stop wearing a glove? Was it Jeff Foxworthy that said, "Vegetables are not food. Vegetables are what food eats." I will pick up Prince's slack and give up vegetables for the inhumane treatment they receive by excessive amounts of sun. Those poor vegetables are always over-looked, they need someone to speak for them.
  3. The question shouldn't be will Prince hit 60, but which uniform will he be wearing when he accomplishes it. I do not think Braun will ever sniff 60.
  4. I sincerely hope the Reds trade Bailey or even Cueto out of the division. Bailey doesn't dominate in his first fifty innings so get rid of him right away. Brilliant, by 2009 I would be shocked if he isn't their best pitcher.
  5. Moving Pujols off third base during his rookie year didn't hurt his offense much.
  6. I would rather have Castro starting than Schneider. If I am trading Milledge I want a definitive improvement over what is already on the roster. Adding Church helps, but only maintains the surplus of OF they have with Chavez and Gomez still there. I think the Mets have some more deals in place that will involve Gomez or Church for some pitching. Great deal for Bowden.
  7. I heart Kemp more.
  8. I definitely would not trade Hardy for Baldelli, but they may be looking for a SS for the next couple of years possibly longer if Brignac shows his skills to be more of what he showed in 2007 as opposed to his big year of A ball in 2006. I see little reason that any team would want Ben Zorbist as their SS for any amount of time.
  9. Bourn has shown a bit more in the ability to draw walks than Gwynn throughout their minor league careers. I think they are both good defensively. I think Bourn will have a bit more gap power than Gwynn as evidenced by their minor league numbers and physical appearance. Very similar players, but I think Bourn is definitely the better of the two and the safer bet to be an everyday CF that will leadoff and get on base at .375 or higher clip. I have to think Turnbow's value should be close to Lidge. Lidge did not pitch consistently well when he was in the closer's role, other than when he initially regained the role in July. The last two months his ERA was over 5.00 compared to the ERA of 1.27 in 42.2 IP he compiled after he initially lost the closer's role in April, granted he was dealing with a sore knee late in the season but I am not convinced he will be a guy that will thrive in Philly. He reminded me so much of Turnbow last year, they were either dominant or brutal and rarely anthing in between. It is not so easy to remember the good games when the bad ones are so bad.
  10. I think it is a great deal for Houston. Bourn straight up for Lidge would have been decent. I think he will be a great fit in CF for Houston, very good defense with a good arm in CF and decent plate discipline with a ton of speed. I am quite surprised Philly got rid of him with Rowand being a free agent, would have loved to see the Brewers dangle Turnbow if all the Phillies wanted was a hard thrower with a fragile psyche. I do not think Philly and Lidge will be a match made in heaven.
  11. Excellent post, Mass. Not that I posted a lot, but have visited this site for many years now. I generally like the rumors page to be more rumors than some crazy proposals, the way it once was. I understand that people want to think of ways to make the Brewers a better team, but those proposals should also make the other team better as well.
  12. I have a feeling the Justin Upton era may be about to begin in Arizona.
  13. According to rotoworld, the Dbacks are also shopping Quentin for starting pitching.
  14. Gagne would love it here with Team Canada.
  15. end- hit the nail on the head. While I would like the deal as stated, it really isn't that lopsided of an offer with Dunn being a free agent if traded.
  16. I do not know if there would be any reason for Baltimore to trade one of the top young lefties in all of baseball, especially when he is pitching for an owner with deep pockets who can more than afford arbitration for the next three years and more than likely beyond.
  17. I would be calling Florida if they are going to pedal Gwynn. The guy I would love to get from them would be Pinto, but the way he has improved his control this year he may be a tough get at this point.
  18. I waived Cain this week from my roto team, so he should really heat up.
  19. Tucker may have the most upside in Florida's deep system of pitching. He is only 20 years old with a very good fastball. I could understand why Florida would hesitate to accept this offer. It would be entirely different if Capellan had different results in the bigs.
  20. I guess the Pirates missed Matt Lawton, so they got a younger version without the speed.
  21. I think the trade may benefit the Cubs this year, but I like Marmol quite a bit. He has a good live arm and spent his first three seasons as a catcher. He has only been pitching since 2003 and has a good fastball and a sharp breaking ball. For a comparison I think he will be a better version of Dave Bush with a better fastball. I hope this comes back to haunt the Cubs.
  22. How would Maybin compare to Delmon Young? I think Maybin may not have quite the power potential of Young, but is an all-around better athlete.
  23. Hurricane with an RBI double off the center field wall scoring Escobar. Josh Murray surprisingly is 0-4.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  24. While we are asking stupid questions today, might I ask for an explanation of 3TO?
