  1. So you're saying he weighs 300 pounds now? I can't buy that, but I bet next Spring we will hear stories about how much weight he lost over the winter.Pretty much, yes. I don't know what he was listed at in 2006, but after looking at those pictures, it's pretty clear that he's MUCH bigger now than he was then...just look at his gut. Maybe he's not over 300, but he's definitely 40 pounds heavier than in 2006 (IMO).
  2. I agree, why didn't they just send out an email that stated..."We'll have a limited supply of Sabathia signed items for sale beginning on such and such date...here are the prices:"
  3. Anyone else see the clip last night of the 5 HR inning? They showed Prince hitting the final one and all 3 guys I was with exclaimed the same thing: LOOK HOW SKINNY HE WAS!!! He's easily added 40 pounds since then and it's obviously hurting his production. He's killing us right now.
  4. I've had the two TV system for years: 1 47' LCD tv w/ HD 1 27' Flat screen 2 DirecTV boxes with ESPN's college gameplan and NFL Sunday ticket It's great for the NCAA tournament, all football days and nights like tonight when I really want to watch 2 things.
  5. Wow, for how bad Pittsburgh is, it's weird that they lead the season series against the Astros 7-2. Let's hope that continues this week, I'd like to eliminate the Astros once and for all....it's hard enough to worry about the 4 teams in front of them. Outside of that though, the Astros do have some favorable matchups...hopefully it's too little too late for them.
  6. They just fell to 7 back, so that's gotta hurt the odds just a bit. I just don't see it with Houston, but you never now. Pretty good for a team that I've written off as dead TWICE already this season.
  7. Yosted. Again. I don't care if it's 0-2 on Corey Hart...he's in a slump, he's one of the best bunters on the team, you have him bunt!!!!!!!! Worst case he strikes out. No, let's let him swing and groung into an inning killing double play. Of course, if we could get any hits with RISP, we still could have won in the last couple innings.
  8. 2 straight games the Padres shortstop boots a ball with a man on third...both times it falls right in front of him and he gets the out at first base. A foot further or if it scoots away, game over. Not that we deserve it, but it would be nice to catch a break.
  9. McClung could make a spot start, he was at least servicable during his starts...and I'd much rather have CC pitch one in the Phillies series
  10. Wow, knock it down with your fat body and just walk over to first base!!!!! Whew, got out of it at least. Kendall, Counsell, Durham due up in the 9th...wow, that sounds like a winning combination. A solid 6 HR combined on the year!!
  11. Yosted. Unbelievable. Worst. Manager. Ever. Best 2 hitters are lefties, we have 2 lefties....let's put in the reliever with a 6.67 ERA (who just blew a game in the exact same scenario) and yea....imagine that, he gives up the lead. Yosted.
  12. Brewers: it is OK to actually get a hit with the bases loaded...or, I know it's hard to fathom, but a HR would be perfectly fine as well.
  13. If we DON'T win with CC on the mound tonight...it's going to get very, very ugly.
  14. It's absolutely inexcusable for us to come out THAT flat for 2 straight games with playoffs finally within sight. Just not acceptable. I haven't looked up the numbers, but at least 0 for 10 tonight with RISP...10 baserunners in 4 innings (without a CS or DP) = 1 run.
  15. We've played like poop for 4 days, lost 4 straight and we fell to .20 games over .500 and a 4 game lead in the WC...it could be a lot worse. Still control our own destiny...
  16. Calling them the Mounties would be classic....I'd love to see that happen someday!
  17. I've never heard of a conditional pick like that being made in a baseball trade, though I suppose it is possible. If that was the case, I'm sure that type of info would never leak out (or would have by now if it was). It is quite common in the NFL though (see: Brett Favre).
  18. They are playing extremely well right now, and if they beat the Cubs, that will put them at 6.5 games back of us if my math is correct. This would be their 8th win in a row (3 each against Cards and Cubs) so I wouldn't put it past them but you would think they would cool off at some point. We're 7 games up on them in the loss column, with only 23 games to play (they'll have 22 after tonight). Assuming we don't COMPLETELY implode...it would take a Rockies like run to finish. Assuming we play .500, we'll say 11-12 to finish they year at 91-71, the Astros would have to finish the season going 17-5, coupled with the 8 in a row they would have already won, and that's a run of 25-5 to end the year...just to tie. Not impossible, but still pretty tough. Not to mention the Cards/Phillies are still in between us too. The Brewers winning 15 or 16 of the last 23 games would make it virtually impossible. Or a few Astros losses, any type of losing streak at all is probably the end of it. Here is their remaining schedule: 3 @ Colorado 4 vs Pitt 3 vs Cubs 3 @ Florida 3 @ Pitt 3 vs Cininnati 3 vs Atlanta If they get through the Cubs series within 2-3 games of us I'll be getting very concerned but until that point I'm not overly worried about them. I personally think they lose at least 2 in Colorado to hopefully give us a cushion over them once and for all.
  19. When is it the Brewers turn to get 2 runs no 1 hit in an inning? Oh that's right, we'd have to actually take 2 walks in an inning, then get a clutch hit. Mitch Stetter - try learning how to throw strikes once in a while. And Brewers, it is OK to actually hit a HR with the bases loaded. Not that we had a chance today, but seriously, other teams do it all the time. Is it really that difficult of a feat for a team near the top of the league in HR???!?!
  20. Thanks. I really didn't even want to say anything, as he had been in our vacinity for about 35 minutes, but he was right next to me and it just kinda presented itself. He didn't seem unhappy in any way, so I'm pretty sure I didn't annoy him http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. I've heard from a Friday's manager friend of mine that the contact with Friday's for the Front Row Sports grill inside MP most likely isn't going to be renewed. Again, I can't confirm this, but it's a fairly reliable source. He thought the deal went through next season though, so don't look for an immediate change.
  22. So, realistically...how many of these guys can we expect to be either on the 40 man or in the system somewhere next year?
  23. Thought I'd revisit this one. I saw Gabe Kapler with his family out at Stonefire Pizza in New Berlin last night. He was there with his wife and kids (I think 3 but it was hard to tell exactly which ones were his). I'm not sure if nobody really noticed him or if they were choosing to leave him be (there weren't a ton of people there). I pointed him out to the people I was with, as most of them are huge Brewer fans (though unlikely to have recognized him if I hadn't said anything). They all kind of stared at him from a distance buy nobody approached him. He was there with his wife and kids so it just didn't seem appropriate to say anything or ask him for an autograph. However, I was walking from the dining area to the game area and him, his wife and kids were walking about 3 behind me (they were leaving). I figured it was an ok time to say something, so I turned to him and said, "Sorry to bother you while you are out with your family, Gabe, but I just wanted to tell you that I think you're doing a great job this season. Good luck the rest of the way". He kind of smiled and said, "Hey, thanks a lot buddy. I appreciate it". And that was that. It was pretty cool.
  24. If they did that, Bush wouldn't be eligible for the postseason roster (unless there was an injury). There's also a limit of I believe 7 days before you can recall a player that you optioned (again, unless there was an injury)Isn't it anyone that's not on the roster on September 2nd? Couldn't they recall him on September 1st and still be ok? I could be remembering that rule incorrectly.
  25. Wouldn't optioning Dave Bush for a couple days be a very easy solution? He pitches tonight, then will have 5-6 days off, they've already sent him down once this year, so his option year is already burned. Seems like he could pitch, be optioned and back up with the expanded rosters on 9/1 in plenty of time for his next start. That's assuming we actually make a move, which I find highly unlikely at this point.
