  1. The MLB store at Brookfield Square had the grey shirts this morning. They told me they'll be getting shipments of the shirts in all week (though they're selling like hot cakes) and he claimed hats tomorrow around 4 or 4:30. I don't know what hat though. I wasn't too big on the grey wild card shirt, I mainly just went to see what they had...but I bought it anyway. I figured it's been my entire life, I need to get at least SOMETHING (even if it's kind of celebrating second place). The only other one I want is the World Series championship one.
  2. I still haven't seen an official release on this. Maybe Gammons was just assuming....we can hope.
  3. You do realize that we had Jhonny Estrada on the roster last year right? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. Mets come back to win one tonight (against the Cubs b line up) but it probably let's them forget the terrible loss of last night. Should be a very interesting weekend. Looks like at least tomorrow's game will be rained out so if we can win the first 1-2 in the Cubs series we can put some SERIOUS pressure on them. If Pinella holds true and starts the same lineup, even with Dempster (only throwing 80 pitches) tomorrow really is a MUST win game for us. Hope Suppan can figure it out....
  5. How about the fact that the Mets/Cubs continued to play long after rain conditions were way beyond the point of calling the game.
  6. 2 balls in this game that Lee probably field, and the Mets win. I hope the Brewers get the same treatment. Lou really didn't try hard at all to win this game.
  7. The Mets should be thanking their lucky stars if they win this game...in any other situation, at any other time of the year, this game is called way before this. That rain is much more than you'd see teams play in, especially for 1-2 hours now. Let's hope the Mets revert to last nights form!
  8. Marmol hasn't pitched in the last couple close games, that's annoying. And how come the Cubs have no problem with perfect relays/tags when they played the Brewers last week? He was dead meat at the plate and he flat out misses him. Lead off hit for Fontenot...let's hope the Cubs have one more left in them.
  9. I can't believe they've played through this rain. Think it would be the case if the Mets were winning??
  10. Walks are the only thing keeping the Mets in any of these games. Yesterday they had 5 runs on 2 hits at one point, today 3 runs on 2 hits. 1 unearned run in the first with no hits, 2 runs in the 4th with 1 hit. And the rain has started...let's hope the Mets don't get the lead at any point.
  11. They're hitting Pedro pretty hard already...3-1 Cubs top 3 with a man on second, no outs. Let's hope Suppan can actually make some pitches tomorrow. If this is the lineup the Cubs put out we REALLY have to have that game.
  12. And a lead off error for Hoffpauir....one hopper right at him Reyes steals second, moves to third on a grounder and scores on a sac fly...unearned run just like that. With the B lineup for the Cubs playing, they can't be giving away runs
  13. Because that offensive lineup was so dynamic yesterday...Ugh. Let's hope it doesn't matter. I really, really want a blowout, not for the teams sake, but for all of the fans sake that are living and dying with each pitch!! A nice 12-3 win would go a long way.
  14. Yes, the hurricane is an excuse, but I think it's a valid one. They had to deal with their city being torn apart, worrying about their families, etc. I don't know what that's like being in Wisconsin but I can see how they had bigger things to worry about that baseball. Being put in Milwaukee was just another dimension to it.
  15. According to weather.com, there is a 70% chance of rain and/or showers in NY on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a 40% chance of rain on Sunday. While this could hurt us in terms of the Cubs rotation and makeup game roster, this could actually work to our benefit. What if 3 games get rained out this weekend? Would the Mets have to play doubleheaders on back to back days to end the season? Sunday - 2 vs Marlins Monday - 1 vs Marlins, 1 vs Cubs scrubs? Has anything like that ever happened? A doubleheader against different teams? Obviously this only happens if every game matters but it could make the Mets play a ton of games in a short period (granted all at home). What else could they do? 1 vs Cubs on Monday, 1 vs Marlins on Tuesday...then a potential 1 game playoff with Milwaukee on Wednesday? I would think that would throw a wrench in the playoff schedule. Thoughts?
  16. I'd say the Astros are pretty much out of it now...they had some tough luck with both the Hurricane situation and the relocation of the games to Milwaukee, but they were playing way over their heads. Still a heck of a run, but 4.5 back with 5/6 to play is probably not going to happen.
  17. I was there last night too and the crowd was plenty into the game. There was some booing, but I think everyone was just a bit tense and expecting the worst (who could blame them with the way the last month has gone). I think everyone was feeling pretty finished when Mota gave up the bomb but almost nobody left early. In my state of euphoria after Prince's homerun, I hardly noticed the crowd at all other than the people around me - who were going bonkers. So I turned the game highlights on during the ride home and the crowd was almost drowning out Uecker for a solid 1-2 minutes after the blast.
  18. I'm doing my best to stay with them, but it's just so tough. It was almost better when we lost 100 games a year...I certainly never felt like I did yesterday afternoon. It would make it that much sweeter if we made it, but that's just looking more and more like a pipedream.
  19. Ueck seemed to think that the ball Edmonds hit is an easy out if not for the wind. Let's hope we can pitch around him from now on....and please, please Brewers don't let the 6 runs you got yesterday be just a fluke, lucky game. And a nice 1-pitch out from Durham. Way to work up Hardens pitch count.
  20. There's also the outside chance that one of those two actually returns to the Brewers.
  21. Maybe this is a day we can steal one, instead of the other way around. It could happen.....Hamels and Santana have been beatable this year. We've had games that on paper are W's for us...and then promptly lost. It's the Phillies and Mets turn!
  22. I guess I'm in the minority, but this is huge, huge game for us. It's time for Dave Bush to step up. Granted, this wouldn't be the dagger if we lose, but it really could be a huge spark for the remaining 9 games. And let's face it, we have 9 winnable games remaining (assuming the Cubs take it easy the last weekend). We're going to need to win at least 7 of the last 10 (IMO) to make the playoffs. Winning today against Harden could go a long way in sparking the offense and the rest of the club for the last week of the season. I honestly believe that if we win this game today, we'll make the playoffs.
  23. I'm sure they'll do something to combat Cubs fans at Opening Day. Maybe make the tickets only available to season ticket holders, or require purchases of other games or something. That does nothing from regular people getting the tickets in a package and putting them on ebay though.
  24. It would be something to bring CC back to Cleveland...of course, he'd have to actually be on the roster next season.
  25. Hopefully it's a bit more even. I hope we can avoid the following: only a couple of 3 city road trips, not the 4-5 we had this year (to the Cubs 1) Not playing a playoff team only twice at home and 4 times on the road
