  1. I'm on gamecast. Was the Mets infield actually playing back? If not, he really can't just put it in play, he has to make sure it is at minimum a fly ball to the OF, that is not as easy as trying to punch it to the 2B. The infield was in. But the point is I think, you have to put the ball in play to have a CHANCE of scoring. And the Brewers have been failing at this quite a bit lately. Not just the lack of hitting with RISP, but simply hitting sac flys can go a long way to winning games like this too.
  2. And just like that the lead is cut in half. We should have run away with this one easily.
  3. The Brewers have just been really struggling to score lately. So many spots lately where we can't get a clutch hit, can't get a sac fly, etc. Several double plays too. Frustrating. Be really nice to find a way to get a couple of insurance runs here. Edit: Bandy chases ball 4 and can't drive in the run. Feels like we're about 0 for our last 10 in this series with a man on third and less than 2 outs. We easily could have 6-7 runs here, hope it doesn't bite us.
  4. To play devils advocate, the Sogard ball is likely an out if the 1b isn't holding the runner on. Can't say for sure, but it certainly seemed like it. That said, I agree with you 100% that Anderson should have still tried to bunt.
  5. Sounds like the Mets tested Franklin and lost... it's strange how occasionally a poor outfielder can make an out that a GREAT OFer wouldn't make because the runners wouldn't test him. Baseball is a funny game. It was a good throw, but the runner was out quite easily. I think most OF with average arms probably have a good chance of an out there. It was a very hard hit ball and a slow runner. But the pitcher on deck I guess made it worth the shot.
  6. Alright, well at least Franklin did that well...almost overthrew him actually. That was a pretty impressive throw. That said, not sure how you don't ring him up a couple of pitches before. Brewers certainly have not gotten much help behind the plate in this series.
  7. Sogard with another great at bat that leads to a single. I know the lifetime numbers say that he's going to crash, but this is pretty fun right now.
  8. I'd guess he gets the boot when Braun comes back from the DL, but that still doesn't justify him being on the roster right now. As others have said, his versatility isn't a plus given all the other guys we have that can do that. I'd much rather see Wren, Cordell, Phillips or Brinson up in those spots, even if it's just for a week or two. The Super 2 deadline is likely safely behind us too.
  9. I'm fine with Sogard playing, as he's hot and deserves it. But I'd MUCH rather see him in LF over Franklin. Franklin has shown absolutely nothing and quite frankly doesn't deserve to be on the roster IMO. More damaging though, is taking Arcia out. You're losing his great defense, but at the same time, he's been hitting awfully well lately as well. Not sure why you give him a day off right now.
  10. Seems to me that Villar has come down with Bill Hall syndrome. Which to me, is that he's just up there trying to hit HR's instead of doing what made him so successful - taking the ball the other way, putting the ball in play, etc. He's just constantly trying to pull the ball it seems, and it's leading to a lot of strikeouts and a lot of weak ground balls.
  11. I think the DH is inevitable at some point. I think the players union would be all for it too, as the DH position typically will bring more money than say the 5th OF or last bullpen spot. The Brewers (and others) have been playing with fire with such a small bench. Get into extra innings or get an injury or two and we're going to run into relief pitchers having to bat or someone playing a crazy position (like say Braun sliding to the infield or something). That can happen in any game certainly, but the fewer bench guys available, the more likely it is something that happens at some point this season.
  12. He got hit by a pitch, not sure what he's supposed to do about that. Nothing. It's not his fault, but it seems like he's had just minor injury after minor injury.
  13. Has Brinson had even one healthy stretch of games (like 15+)since the Brewers got him? Seems to remind me of Ryan Braun...never anything overly serious, but he's seemingly always got some sort of minor injury that's causing him to miss time.
  14. The overall numbers have been fine but stuff like today is highly frustrating. Scahill enters with two on, two out in a one run game. Plunks the eight hitter, then nibbles and winds up walking the pitcher to force in a run. Sure, the pitches were close, but just throw a strike. 9 out of 10 times he makes an out. No reason to be that fine with a pitcher up and nowhere to put him.
  15. Regardless of who comes up, Drake needs to go IMO. I'd prefer a lefty too. Wang would be cool. Hader could be a pen option too if the Brewers want to limit his innings at some point this season.
  16. Just revisiting this now that the game is over. I only need one. Prefer to just buy it but I have a few things to trade potentially too. Thanks!
  17. It sounds like Pina is going to be OK. Might miss a day or two, but it sounds like just a bruise and nothing more serious.
  18. The worst part of this to me, is that we have to suffer through another 10+ days of Nick Franklin. The guy just simply isn't worthy of an MLB roster spot IMO. I'd much rather see someone like Wren up here. Wren has been very, very good in AAA all last season and this season. Let's see what he can do. At the very least, he can seemingly get on base, which is something Franklin simply hasn't done.
  19. My guess is it'll still be Zanik. And they've probably explained that to him as well. They're just doing their due diligence (do they have to? I know NFL for example makes them do interviews for certain positions and things like that).
  20. Ok thanks. Sure, just let me know. I can always go the ebay route too, just thought maybe some people on here might have extras.
  21. Anyone going to have an extra one from this weekend that they'd be willing to sell/trade? I normally attend these myself, but the Brewers putting this one on a holiday weekend made that basically impossible for me unfortunately. Let me know, thanks!
  22. The timing of it isn't ideal with the draft only about a month away. Puts the Bucks in a bit of a bind if he takes anyone with him.
  23. The Mahal thing is 100% purely a business decision as they are expanding into India and that area of the world. That said, they did a TERRIBLE job of getting to this point. Mahal has essentially been a jobber/lower card guy essentially his entire career. There was no progression, no real story of any kind. He just went from a jobber to WWE champion in the span of a couple of months. I assume he loses it at the next PPV, I certainly hope so. It's hard to have any interest when they do things like this.
  24. It does seem a tad silly to me that MLB can't overrule decisions like this that are made essentially because it helps the Cubs. The rain had completely stopped by about 12:45-1:00. Didn't rain the rest of the day. Wasn't freezing cold. No massive wind. There is just no real reason they couldn't have played today. It's not like there was massive amounts of rain in the forecast that didn't come - there wasn't. It was quite clear simply looking at the weather that they could easily play the game, maybe even on time, but certainly with a small delay to the start time. IMO, there's just no viable reason this game didn't happen today. I just think it's absurd that the home team can cancel a game without any sort of real justification or at least MLB looking at it and approving it or rejecting the cancelation or something.
  25. Regardless of who starts tomorrow...someone is going to have to be sent back down. Very well could be Davies if he pitches poorly again today. If it's not him though...who gets the boot?
