  1. And yet another special bobblehead added. Just when I gave the Brewers credit for scaling back on them, they go ahead and just keep adding more and more theme night ones. Special ticket required. • September 23: Saturday Night Fever, Bill Schroeder Disco Pose Bobblehead
  2. I have to agree with above, baseball players have seriously become babies. Every player on the Brewers should have been excited about that play. Donaldson is a great power hitter, one run game in the ninth. Crowd was going nuts. That's a huge out to get. You see NFL players celebrate catches and runs constantly (not touchdowns, just first downs with the motion or the "feed" me thing) or even a big hit. You see NBA players do gestures when they hit a three, scream when they dunk and all that stuff. Hockey and soccer players celebrate goals with crazy dances and stuff (more in soccer). But in MLB, watching a HR for a second or getting excited about a K and pumping your first - that's going too far.
  3. It's hard to say he's overpaid right now given his numbers last year. I think he's actually probably slightly underpaid given the FA market. Now, will he decline as he gets older...probably. Most players do. But we have no idea when that will happen or how much. It's hard to predict. That said, there's no definitive statement here. He very well could still be a very, very good hitter in 3-4 years. Or he could fall off a cliff one year randomly.
  4. It's not usually quite as bad as it was last night. This week they swapped a bunch of superstars from one show to the next, so a lot of it was introducing them and making a big deal about it. I wouldn't say it's ever chalked full of wrestling, but it's generally quite a bit more than you saw yesterday.
  5. For me, the time is really becoming the problem. With just the normal Raw, SD and NXT shows, we're talking 7 hours a week - that doesn't include the PPV every 2-3 weeks and the NXT PPV's. Asking a fan to devote that much time is a bit much. I find myself recording the shows, the fast forwarding through most of it. And also then watching a PPV in the background or something while I do other things. I like wrestling, always have, but it's just becoming a lot - especially now that baseball season is here and I have a Brewers game to watch most nights.
  6. Its alarming that they would say that. Especially considering Smackdown has been by far the better show the last year. They'll get some back - Charlotte, Owens, New Day, probably a few others. Hopefully they at least make it close to even again.
  7. He will finish top 20 in all of those unless Irving puts up a huge number of assists in the final game (which seems pretty unlikely). Pretty amazing to think that nobody has ever done it. In most years, he would definitely at least be in the debate, but with the insane year of Westbrook (and Harden for that matter) he won't even be close. He might get some votes (do they vote for more than 1 in the NBA? if they do top 3-5, he will get some I think). Crazy thing is, Giannis has a TON of room to grow as a player yet. He keeps on developing, he'll win an MVP or two sooner rather than later. Not a great matchup with the Raptors, especially given how the Bucks have played the last 5-6 games, but at least they are in. Give them some playoff experience and something to build off for next season.
  8. Any update on Brinson today? Really hoping it's something minor.
  9. I didn't have any food, but the large draft beer prices went up, I think .25. Might have been .50, I can't remember what they were last year but they definitely went up a tad.
  10. Oh I get that. I don't blame them. It just gets a bit extreme sometimes. It'll be interesting to see how the new craft beer section goes. Most of them are easily available at bars or liquor stores in the area. And with prices in the $10-14 range...I dunno. That's a lot to pay for a single beer. After the initial wave of people simply checking it out, I'll be curious how popular/successful it is.
  11. It's all ridiculous when you put it into real life perspective..for $8.75 I can buy a 12 pack of Miller Lite. Or for $5 I can buy 6 brats and buns. I get it, they want to make money and you're trapped if you want something there. But it does get a tad old, I wish more teams would go the Atlanta Falcons route but that seems highly highly unlikely.
  12. So I talk about how well he's been playing and Monroe lays a total egg tonight. Weird game. Bucks score 35 in the first. Then only scored 41 the next 30 minutes. Went from up 18 to down 10. Came roaring back to tie in the last 5 minutes, then won in OT. Big, big win. Not having Brogdon hurt. But Thon Maker was HUGE. Looked great tonight.
  13. Monroe starting to play more and play well has made a HUGE difference on this team the last month or two. He's been very, very solid. Sounds like Brogdon is out tonight with back stiffness. Doesn't sound serious but every game is huge right now, hopefully they can find a way to win without him. Need to beat Detroit as they are right there in the standings and we have some tough ones coming up yet. Beasley might be available though, so that's a plus I guess.
  14. Anybody else not really feeling it this year? The match card has a few decent matches, but nothing I'm overly excited about. Doesn't help that a few of them seem highly predictable. Also the fact that it's going to be 5-6 hours when it's all said and done doesn't help anything.
  15. They certainly COULD move up, but I'd be surprised this year. This is a very deep CB draft, we can likely sit back and still get a very good one at our spot. Also, IMO, we have many holes yet to fill all over the roster and giving up multiple picks or a third rounder (or whatever it costs) to move up seems like a bad move this year
  16. Three days of rest, yes. But you also have to factor in flights. Badgers were in Buffalo, I assume they flew home. Then had to turn around and fly back out to NYC. Granted, the Badgers got essentially a week off so they should be well rested. But if you had to play Sunday like the B10 tournament, then fly home then back out for a Thursday game. That really isn't a ton of rest. Everyone reacts differently to plane rides, changing time zones, etc. It's all about TV though in this round. We have the last game because that's the "marquee" matchup in that region. it would have certainly been Duke if they had made it there.
  17. Finally got my season tickets today, not sure what took so long. Most years I'd have gotten them 2 weeks ago. Has anybody gotten any of their SSH perks/rewards yet? I got my $25 vouchers for each seat a couple weeks ago. But I never got anything as far as the other reward item - we had to prioritize which items we wanted. There were things like upgraded seats for a few games, an autograph, etc. I was never told which one I got or when I'd actually receive it. Most years I got the upgraded seat vouchers, which I normally would have in my possession by now. Found the info on the Brewers website. We ranked these when we renewed, but that was the last I've heard of it. Not 100% positive, but I think we actually got to pick one blue and one silver reward if we renewed early (anyone remember this for sure, I have a 20 pack). 18. Thomas is the best of that group, but none of them are anything special. Ryan and Martinez would be better served as backups IMO as neither has the speed that I think is necessary nor do either of them cover overly well. Nothing wrong with them, but just all around average players to me.
  19. If Braun is on the roster in 2 years, which seems likely to me, and we have a glut of outfielders that we don't want to trade, Braun would make the most sense by far to move to 1b. Infield background, he'll be slowing down in the OF presumably. Or who knows, maybe the NL will get the DH sooner or later too. What I think is probably more likely...we trade at least 1 OF for pitching - Santana or Broxton as they'll be closer to free agency and we'll have guys like Brinson and Ray waiting or already on the roster (in theory).
  20. Not overly surprising, Parker really isn't very good defensively and he was often out of position. Though he was improving a bit as the year went on. The thing that sucks is that we never really got to see how they all played together. Particularly on offense, would have really been a much more explosive team with a trio of guys out there that can score. Who knows if we ever really will or what Parker looks like when he actually gets back in a year. Bucks are in a good position right now to get into the playoffs, but it's so bunched up that one bad week could really hurt them. They just need to keep winning the games they should win. Only 12 or so games left in the season at this point.
  21. I don't expect the Badgers to win the title this year but it's not impossible...look at Uconn a few years ago. Came out of nowhere as a lower seed, got hot caught a break or two and won the whole thing. But...one game at a time. Find a way to beat Florida first, then worry about what's next.
  22. I'd take the one. Just for that one moment of winning it all. Because you never know when or if the dominos might fall right or when you'll have another chance at it. It might think differently if we had won several of them, but for Wisconsin (football/basketball), Marquette and the Brewers it's basically never happened (not in my 35 years at least).
  23. Two of them did for sure - Ahmed Hill and Satchel Pierce. Hill played against Wisconsin, looks like he averaged about 11 points a game this year. Pierce barely played his first two seasons and appears to have transferred to Penn State.
  24. From what I recall, the Badgers didn't really even recruit Sam Hauser, and I'm not sure they ever made an offer (could be wrong). So he didn't have the option to go to WI despite being an almost perfect fit for the offense. The parents seem to have been offended by this but they are going hard after Joey Hauser - I think he's giving them a serious look. My guess is he stays in state, but goes to play with Sam at Marquette, but who knows. Hard to really guess what the ultimate factors are for 16-18 year old kids.
  25. All three freshman coming in next year are very highly regarded. And considering that after Happ, Iverson and Trice, there's really no guaranteed minutes to anyone currently on the bench, I think they're all going to have a real shot at playing. Kobe King I think has a chance to be really special.
