  1. So I realize that Chapman is more of an elite closer than Jeffress (and to some extent Smith), but Chapman is only signed this year. What does this mean for our relief guys? Could we legitimately get an overpay like this as well?
  2. There was an article I read on twitter (and I apologize that I can't find the link or remember exactly who wrote it), but it was a major columnist listing off his all star selections. He didn't select Braun - and he specifically said something about PED's, which I think is garbage. The man got his punishment. Like him as a human or not, that shouldn't come into play when selected an all star team. Numbers wise, he's clearly an all star this year and it isn't close, but the PED thing is still (and likely will always be) a major issue with Braun.
  3. I used to play basketball and baseball against Melon in high school. Plus Copper Falls has some beautiful hiking. But it is 4 miles past no where. Ha. That's funny. Where are you from? Melon really is the epitome of a "blink and you'll miss it" type of town. One main street through town - post office, gas station, couple bars and that's it really. I haven't been there in about 10 years - since we got the place in Three Lakes, but I have a lot of great memories of the area - and the fishing was outstanding. It's just so far up there and in the middle of absolutely nowhere.
  4. Wade was never really coming here IMO - he was just using the Bucks as leverage. Even if he leaves Miami, doesn't seem like the Bucks would have been in play anyways.
  5. Was just coming to post this. Two years. Wow. Moron...
  6. Looks like the Bucks just sold pick #38 to the Warriors. Hate that. High second round pick has to be worth something. At least get a future second from them or something. It looks like we just took straight cash for it. At the very least, they could have taken a European guy and kept him over there for a few years.
  7. Really, really wanted the Bucks to get Ulis in the second round. Just went 2 picks in front. No idea what they are going to do now, with 2 picks coming up. Payton could be an interesting choice I guess. Also...what must Diamond Stone be thinking right now?? Apparently he interviewed very, very poorly and he wasn't that highly thought of in the first place.
  8. I'd love for this to happen, I've thought he'd be a great fit for months now but I just don't see it happening. There's quite a few teams in front of us that would want him and we don't really have that much ammo to use without giving up either a core young player or next year's first round pick (which I don't think would happen).
  9. agreed, which is why I'd like to see Braun retire a Brewer... Which, if he plays out his contract, will be hard to do. We will hopefully be hitting our stride with no room in the outfield when we reach the end of his contract and we all know he isn't the best infielder. I think it would happen more if teams could reason keeping aging players around. However usually younger options become available and the older players are left to find a desperate team with a big hole. I think there's a very real chance that the DH is in the National League before his contract expires. If he's still hitting it's certainly a possibilityy that the Brewers shift him there and keep him for awhile. There's a lot of "ifs" in there, but I think it's certainly a realistic scenario.
  10. I'd really love them to find a way to get Buddy Hield, but I can't see any scenario that happens really barring a trade. He's not going to fall to the 10 range and he's not necessarily going to be a top 3 pick either if we get lucky in the lottery. I think he'd be a great fit for this offense though. And Kobe last night...that was fun. Despite not ever really liking the guy, it's hard not to respect what he did on a basketball court.
  11. Not a great game tonight, especially in the second half. But wins are wins. And they were never really in an danger of blowing the big lead. Still like to see them just drop the hammer in that second half. Not that there ever was before, but there is zero chance of missing the big dance any more. Amazing job by Gard and this Badger team!
  12. I'll echo what everyone else has said...Palm is just being stubborn here. And I've addressed him on Twitter about it and he has actually responded...with snide comments. He's one of the worst "bracket experts" out there, I saw on another Badger forum that he's in the bottom 25% of "experts" that put out brackets. He's almost entirely driven by the RPI, which while still meaningful, isn't the end all be all as far as seedings go. Kenpom and the BPI are things that the committee looks at too. And these are human beings, despite what they say, I still think it matters how a team plays and that big wins (especially on the road) highly outweigh bad losses. Palm has basically just taken a hardline stance on the Badgers the last 2 months, and he's backed himself into a corner. I think he felt they'd lose some games and he'd be proven "right" but that hasn't happened and his stance has made him look silly but he has no real choice but to defend it now. He also went to Purdue, so maybe he has a bias You guys are all correct on the "bad" losses. Are losses to Marq, GTown and NW good...not really. But they aren't horrible either. Is he giving equal weight to beating Sienna and Penn State, as those two are slightly inside the top 100. to have that hard of a stance and say inside 100 is good and a team at 105 is bad is just flat out silly. Marquette and Georgetown could both sneak into the top 100 with a win or two (they play each other tonight), does that suddenly negate that? Lunardi and some of the others are much more accurate, and they already have Wisconsin in the 6-7 range. Lunardi was asked on Twitter about WI last night and he said they are a lock for the tournament, no matter what happens in the next 3. Palm sill refuses to believe that, but I have to imagine he's going to eat some serious crow on Twitter - fans are all over him in the comments of every single article he rights about WI.
  13. Looks that way, though it also appears that there are forecasts for around 60 early next week....for me, that means I'm shoveling the sidewalk and just driving over the stuff on the driveway for a week. Yeah, I'm lazy like that, ha. Even though it's been a pretty mild winter, there's no sense it really going out of my way to move snow around, only for it to be completely melted and gone in a week or less. I do find it funny though. Yesterday, all time high of 61, two days later...6 inches of snow.
  14. These are probably the exact goals that could realistically be done. I like it. Disagree, if they win two games in the Big ten tournament they are in the championship game. If they make it to the second weekend they are beating a 1 or 2 seed at this point. If you expect them to go to the second weekend might as well just say final four. If they get the B10 championship game, they likely move up past the 7-10 seed range. Not much higher, but a 6 is certainly possible if they keep winning. In which case, they're only beating a 3 seed (which is certainly doable with this field). Almost every major bracket I've looked at today already has them as a 7 seed (other than Jerry Palm, who I find to be a complete and utter moron and quite snippy for no real reason on Twitter). If they keep winning, especially if they make the B10 semis and beat another quality team, they'll like move up further yet. I might be crazy here, but I'm enjoying this team almost as much, if not more than last year. If only because it was so unexpected. To see a team essentially left for dead by just about everyone (myself included) and then to just suddenly click and go on this run has been crazy and really, really fun to watch.
  15. I have a really hard time seeing Michigan pass the Badgers, even if they beat WI on Sunday. Michigan has an SOS of around 60 (Badgers are in the top 10). They have an RPI around 60 as well (Badgers were around 43 BEFORE the Iowa game). Michigan does have more wins (20-18) and 1 fewer loss and every loss is to a top 100 RPI team. But their resume quite frankly isn't very good. They have no bad losses (WI has 3 at least), but Michigan is 15-0 against teams with an RPI of 100 of worse (including 9 wins against sub 230 teams). They are 3-9 vs the Top 100....that's just simply not a great resume. They have 2 good wins at home (Maryland and Purdue) and one on a neutral floor (Texas). That's it. Their next best win would be Wisconsin, if they beat them. After that...it's two wins against Penn State at 102. Yes, the Badgers have worse losses, but they just have so many more quality wins - Iowa, Maryland, MSU, Indiana, etc. Badgers now have 9 top 100 wins. That's going to be more than enough to erase those bad losses (and a couple of those losses are to teams close to the top 100 - Marquette and NW). And I don't care what the committee says, they do the eye ball test (they are human after all) and I believe how teams are playing now is a huge factor. There's almost no way the Badgers miss the tournament IMO barring losing 4 straight games - and even then, I feel pretty solid they'd sneak in.
  16. Not sure I agree with that. Both are problems. Iowa KILLED Wisconsin on the boards tonight. Iowa had 20 offensive rebounds tonight, that's a massive number and it was a huge reason they were able to stay in the game despite shooting only 32% (the FT shooting discrepancy was a big deal too, as at one point before they started fouling, Iowa had a 20-6 FT advantage). Yes, they won the game but the size was certainly a factor. If they had lost, it would have been THE factor. They need to work on boxing out a bit more - they play straight man to man 100% of the time, there's no reason to not be able to get a body on guys and box out a bit better. That said, still a great great win. Hard to imagine they miss the tournament at this point. Win a couple more and they can maybe even move up out of that 8/9 seed range....and maybe Gard is B10 coach of the year. Hard to believe how well they've played in the last 6 weeks - wins over IU, MSU, Maryland and Iowa, that's crazy.
  17. Ticket fees in general I find to be just pure garbage - if they want to charge that, fine, but then include that in the ticket. Seeing a ticket price of $25 become $30 is infuriating. Especially if they won't let you do it over the phone. The thing that irritated me the most here, is that they for some reason or other, can't figure out how to let you buy tickets to these special games together - even though you can for other games/tickets. Which means separate orders for each game, which means like was stated, I'm paying separate per order fees and separate delivery fees for each game, simply because they can't figure it out. It can't be that hard. Yes, I know, it's not a ton of money, but it's highly annoying.
  18. Novak is in fact signing with the Bucks, Copeland to be waived. Not sure how much he'll play (Copeland never saw the floor) but the team certainly does need another shooter. Gives them another threat off the bench I guess, and he certainly can space the floor, which the they desperately need.
  19. Not a Bobblehead night but is anyone planning on attending can coozy night on August 4? A buddy and I sort of collect them but neither of us can make it that night. If anyone is going and would like to sell the coozie please let me know. Looking for 2.
  20. For those interested in the stitch and pitch, just saw this on twitter: Thursday, June 9 vs. New York Mets Stitch while we pitch! Join the Crew for the tenth-annual Stitch 'N Pitch Night at Miller Park and stitch away as you watch the Brewers take on the Mets alongside fellow needle artists, mingle with shop owners and check out shop tables in the concourse. All fans who purchase this special Stitch 'N Pitch ticket package will receive a limited-edition bobblehead featuring Brewers mascot, Barrelman, donning a knit sweater.
  21. They're going to have to give SOMETHING out that night, Lucroy traded or not. People will be buying tickets expecting one. They did gave Hammonds ones out after he was gone. As for the Ghostbusters one, I'd be stunned if they did it with current players. It'll be the 4 HOF guys or something similar to that. It's hard to even come up with 4 current Brewers that make sense. Lucroy and Braun - sure, but Lucroy might be moved and already has the super hero one. The rest of the guys, it's hard to predict if they'll even be on the Brewers long term. Can anyone confirm these two new theme nights for sure go on sale tomorrow morning?
  22. I sure hope not, Rubio is a walking injury waiting to happen. MCW looks like Curry compared to Rubio in the shooting department as well. Jason Kidd really, really wants a pass first PG to run the offense and can make an occasional shot (you know, exactly the player HE was). Teams can win with a PG that is an average or worse shooter if he can pass and run the offense well. The problem for the Bucks, is that other than Middleton, NOBODY in the starting lineup can consistently shoot - Parker and Giannis need to develop this to some extent and the Bucks need a SG that can actually shoot the ball well.
  23. It's so weird. Last year was top-heavy. Other than Michigan State (but who's REALLY surprised when they get to a final four.....really?) there were nothing but cream of the crop heavyweights left standing at the end. It was going to be Kentucky, UW, Duke...... or nobody. This year, there's probably 20 or so teams that you can legitimately say "they have a good/decent chance to make a deep run in this tourney". Field is wide open this year. Anyone can make a run. Hard to complain since the Badgers were oh so close to a national title last year, but can you imagine if those guys were one class later and we had that roster this season?? Man...
  24. I think it'll be fine to let them finish out together if there are no moves. See if they play better, hopefully get Vaughn a few more minutes and then revisit this summer. The roster as it currently sits simply doesn't work, but they can revisit this summer. Maybe make a bigger play for a PG like Rubio?? I really, really wish they could go back and redo that stupid Vasquez trade from last summer. Drastic overpay and he's produced nothing this season. I see Houston might very well waive Ty Lawson if not traded. The Bucks might want him, he can shoot and pass. He'd be a much better fit than MCW.
  25. Are both of these going on sale tomorrow officially?? Is there a link or a passcode needed or anything? Normally I get an email from the Brewers on this type of stuff but didn't. I see the info on the website, but nothing about ticket sales.
