  1. Yeah, I really believe he would have retired with a national title win last year. Now he probably doesn't want that to be his last memory as a coach. Great coach...might be the best WI ever gets. I'd be pretty surprised if Gard doesn't get it. He's been here forever and is the top recruiter. I'm sure there will be plenty of Tony Bennett rumors, but I just have a hard time seeing him leave UVA at this point. Smart would have been cool too but he just left this year so I can't see that happening either.
  2. Unless I missed something....the Bucks don't have Marshall any more. He was part of the MCW trade and then the Suns waived him. Still think it was an awful awful trade. Could have signed a similar guy to probably less money and kept the pick. Basically took Dudley on last season for no reason now.
  3. I keep seeing things pop up about the Bucks wanting to trade up into the top 10....but nobody seems to really have any idea about WHO we'd actually be targeting. Anyone hearing anything? Also...it says a lot about the NBA draft when you pick 17th and you're hoping to find anyone that can contribute right away, even as a role player. Really shows you how flawed the system is where you can't even find 17 guys that can really come in and make an immediate impact of any kind.
  4. It really irks me when this happens. The Brewers have chosen not to televise the game, yet MLB Network is blocked out. I understand when it's on both channels, but in this case, the Brewers chose not to put it on TV, yet we still can't watch the feed from another channel. It's on MLB Network's alternative channel, if you get that. These commentators are really hating on the fact that the Brewers have a roof but they're not closing it in the rain. I've got to say, they've got a good point. I DO GET THAT CHANNEL!! Thanks!! Woohoo!

  6. Was it me or could the LF had maybe caught that for the third out? Why not at least go for it? 2 run lead, 2 outs in the 9th....worst case it goes past you and maybe the guy scores or winds up at third...who cares....that run is meaningless. Hard to tell from that angle but it sure looked like he could have charged and dove headfirst for it.
  7. Is Kirby slated to start at some point or is he relegated to the bullpen after being cleared to play again?
  8. They've announced they aren't signing....right now. Doesn't mean things can't change over the summer. It's unlikely but you never know. They have right up to the deadline to make it happen. People can always change their mind. That said, I'm not holding my breathe - which is what all of us knew when we drafted virtually all those guys.
  9. Hard to say with Lopez but he hasn't shown that defense in his career at all. I think he's a lot more likely though as he's younger and has the relationship with Kidd already.
  10. I do like beer....and the kids will not be coming on this trip. I'll definitely check those areas out!! Thanks!
  11. i don't think it makes sense to give a 32 year old a 4 year max deal at this point. I don't think it would take anywhere near a max contract for him - his last contract wasn't and he's 4 years older now. I'm not saying he's going to be a stud, but I'd much rather him than Lopez. Lopez plays very little defense whereas Chandler is a pretty nice post presence. He doesn't bring a ton on offense, but we should have plenty of other guys hopefully taking shot with Giannas, Parker and Middleton (presumably) all coming back. Plus whatever we do at the SG position.
  12. Tyson Chandler yes please. Brook Lopez please no.
  13. I believe this is accurate: Team exceeds pool by 0-5% = 75% tax on the overage Team exceeds pool by 5-10% = 75% tax on the overage, loss of next years first round draft pick Team exceeds pool by 10-15% = 100% tax on overage, loss of next years first AND second round picks Team exceeds pool by 15% or more = 100% tax on overage, loss of the next two first round picks http://m.mlb.com/news/article/126797888/breakdown-of-2015-draft-signing-bonus-pools
  14. I like that Counsell puts something different out there every game. The whole having a set spot in the order is just stupid. It doesn't matter what spot you hit in, the pitcher is still going to try and get you out. I tend to disagree. But to each their own. I do like that the pitcher is finally hitting 9th tonight at least.
  15. Is anyone else getting a little tired of the constant lineup changes? I know it shouldn't matter for MLB players but I think they like having a set spot, around the same guys in the lineup. I know our lineup is changing relatively frequently, but is it that hard to just put guys in the same spots? It's like a guessing game every single day.
  16. Because the Mets are not going to trade away any young player for Ramirez. The Mets are looking to get Matz into the rotation this year. The best way to do this is to trade Niese or Gee for someone. It is going to come down to the Brewers or the A's on which one is going to bite on either Niese or Gee for Ramirez or Zobrist. It is either take Niese or Gee or get nothing for Ramirez. I don't see another team out there that will take on Ramirez. It is nice and all to say you want younger players but you can't trade with yourself that is not how this works. The other GM is going to have to agree with this and I just don't see the Mets agreeing to it. It's June 11th. It's a little early to say that this is all we could get for Ramirez. Maybe that's the only offer we have right now, but that doesn't mean we couldn't get anything at all between now and the trade deadline (or as a waiver claim in August). The longer the year goes on, the cheaper Ramirez becomes and it becomes more feasible for some teams to take him on - plus it's tough for his value to get much lower. If he warms up the next 6 weeks (as he normally does)...it's pretty easy to envision teams wanting him. Not only at third, but any AL team in need of hitting might want him as a DH too. And until the Mets make another move to fix 3b, there's really nothing stopping us from making the same deal near the deadline.
  17. This is purely a move to create cap space and/or playing time. Both Butler (4.5 million) and Williams (1.3 million) have unguaranteed contracts - so the Bucks could cut them both and not have to pay them a penny. Even if they keep them both, they'd still save money as Ersan was set to make 7.9 this year and 8.4 the following year. Also takes his minutes and lets the younger guys play more (especially if we draft Looney or another PF as I seem to be seeing mocked everywhere).
  18. Well pretty much anyone is less veteran than ARam. So if we can go younger and cheaper at any point, go for it. Is there any reason the Brewers can't go ahead and trade the guy they would supposedly pick up? Do you have to keep for 30 days or anything like that? Ha. Good point. Unless something has changed, there is no rule on trading anyone we get back. I remember the Marlins having Mike Piazza for like a week a few years back. There's a rule about players drafted this year or players signed as FA this year (but I think this has passed already or is about to).
  19. I'd be stunned if anyone but Reigns won the MITB. You could be right on Cena/Owens, hope it's as good as last time though. Really disappointed to hear about the Tyson Kidd injury - he finally broke through and I really liked his pairing with Cesaro....which is now pretty much gone for at least a year it sounds like. Ugh. I'm sure they'll ruin Cesaro again too.
  20. The wife and I have planned a last minute trip to see the Brewers in KC next week. It's a quick two day trip (with two night games), but we've never been there before and don't really know anything in the city. I'm sure we'll want to grab some BBQ at some point, but other than that, we're pretty much wide open all day Wednesday and Thursday. Anyone have any suggestions of things to see or do? Any restaurants or bars we must check out?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  21. It's highly doubtful Ramirez would bring back the type of prospect that projects beyond a fringe major league career so getting a veteran back with some usefulness isn't going to mess up any rebuilding. I'm not sold that Gee has any value, but Niese certainly does and as for blocking younger guys, well Niese would allow them to deal Fiers or Garza, and if Garza got dealt, Niese at $9 million would be their most expensive starter going into 2016, hardly a sign they are "all in" for 2016. In fact in the long run, a guy like Niese would net a much more viable prospect than a 3 month rental of Ramirez would. You're probably right that we could trade Niese down the road. I'd rather take him than Gee. Even getting a fringe prospect back would be fine with me just to save the salary money, but that's just my thoughts I guess. But as far as needing to take a pitcher back to trade Garza or Fiers - I tend to disagree. Between Jungmann, Cravy, Wagner and Thornburg, I think we have plenty of young guys that could fill the rotation spots the rest of the season. I'd rather see them get some experience and see what they have the rest of this season. Just my opinion I guess.
  22. Taking on any veteran in a trade is pretty dumb for the Brewers. This is the time to really see what some of the young guys can do - Jungmann, Cravy, etc. I'd much rather take a prospect of ANY kind for Ramirez than taking back someone like Gee. Other than salary savings, he isn't bringing much back to us and he's blocking starts from the younger guys when/if we clear a rotation spot for them. Unless we think we can get more for Gee at the trade deadline than we could get for Ramirez right now? As far as 3b goes, let Rogers/Gomez play there on a regular basis - what's the worst that could happen? They're terrible and we stay as the worst team in MLB??
  23. Are these guys that good that it's worth sacrificing next years first round pick? A pick that is currently in line to be the #1 overall pick.... That's a serious question, I don't know any of these guys well at all. thanks.
  24. So we took Hooper, India and Everett, Donovan and Beck (so far)...all were really high prospects with super strong college commitments right? So extremely unlikely we sign them? So if we could even sign ONE that's a huge get? Doesn't hurt to take fliers at this point IMO. That seems like a lot of guys we have little to no chance of signing. Does the team know something we don't or are they just hoping they'll throw whatever money they have left over to them and hope to get lucky?
  25. Brewers draft David Lucroy a second time...
