  1. Ha, guess we're all on the same page there 3 identical posts within a minute. That's stellar. If he's accurate, it'll be REALLY interesting to compare the trades both on Friday and for the next few years. I'd have to think this hurts us, as other teams know what trade we took and nobody is going to drastically top that offer IMO.
  2. Bob NightengaleVerified account ‏@BNightengale The #Brewers rejected the #Mets trade because of concerns over Wheeler"s physical and still plan to trade Gomez by Friday. Nightengale is the lead USA sports reporter I believe.
  3. Well [expletive deleted by moderator]. It's gotta be wheelers arm right??? This is crazy. Puts the players in a really really awkward spot too.
  4. Between segura and sardinas (and Flores in a pinch), we can easily cover ss until 2017 if we don't want to start the clock on arcia
  5. That's an option but Flores really isn't a ss. Mets played him there because they had no choice. Moving Flores back to a more natural position could let him focus more on hitting.
  6. Flores isn't the same as our current infielders in that he actually has power and has shown in in the minors. He's only 23 and was probably in the majors too soon. He fits well at third (where we have nobody) or 2b if we want to live segura to third. Maybe the change of scenery will help him.
  7. I wouldn't think so, unless it's just to unload Lohse (can't see it happening) or Garza (pretty please?) since Wheeler is not going to be ready for almost a year. Lohse will be released but fiers could easily be traded I think. Toronto reportedly wanted him.
  8. If the mets want Gomez badly and Flores is part of the trade, why risk leaving him in at this point? What if he gets hurt and the whole trade falls a part??? Why take that chance?
  9. I'm already bracing myself to be extremely disappointed with this trade.
  10. He's not Logan Schafer? How could one even tell the difference?
  11. Lagares isn't good. Why would we want him??
  12. If we really like him that much, we can always attempt to resign him. There wouldn't be a QO offer on him at that point. We did it with K-Rod a couple years back. He'd probably only return if we could guarantee him a starting spot, which would really only happen if we give up on Davis or move Gomez and want Parra in CF. Either way, now is the time to cash in on his all-time high value with a trade.
  13. I'd be flat out stunned if the city council doesn't approve it. The pressure on them will be immense at this point. Any idea when it will actually reach the governor? That's the next step. He's out of the state at the moment. But he needs to sign it, then it goes to the council and then at that point....I guess it's a matter of finalizing and releasing arena plans and getting bids. They theoretically could be breaking ground sometime this fall!
  14. I know Appel was drafted #1 overall a couple years ago and recently pitched in the futures game. I think he's in the 30-40 overall MLB prospect range - which must be based on potential and stuff, because his numbers this season don't look very impressive. Singleton has been in the majors for a bit now and has struggled mightily (.164 average in 330 at bats). His minor league numbers don't look all that stellar either. The rest of the guys I've never heard of so I can't say, but that's a LOT to give up if those are the two main guys in the trade.
  15. If and when it actually gets to a vote (hopefully today, fingers crossed), I'd be very surprised if it failed. It's been stated numerous times they wouldn't bring it to vote unless they were pretty confident it would pass. It's mainly just politics at this time. The republicans made concessions (specifically the Bucks agreeing to a ticket surcharge) that will go directly to the debt payoff for Milwaukee. That seemed to be the turning point for a few of the Democrats to swing the in favor of the vote. At this point, the Senate session is underway and a few of them are arguing against it - which to me is mainly just grandstanding to allow the politicians that are staunch "no" to get their thoughts out and to prove to their constituents that they did what they could. As long as the vote happens today or tomorrow - it should pass. If it's after that, things get dicey as a strong "yes" vote is leaving the Senate on Friday and being replaced by a strong "no". Assuming it passes the Senate, the only real obstacle left is the Assembly - which could be close, but the general consensus from what I saw was that it should ultimately pass there.
  16. Nice job Perez. Could you be an more nonchalant on that?? That's three in a week. Ramirez could have booted that just as easily. Then two bloopers and a crazy bounce and Nelson is on the hook for the loss. Guy pitched awesome and certainly deserved better.
  17. Looked like Braun could have caught that ball. But even if it's close....with an out in the sixth inning and your starter throwing a no hitter, you make every attempt to catch that. This isn't a playoff game or an absolute must win....we have nothing to lose here. You gotta make an effort...absolute worst case he dives and misses, goes for a hr and we still have a 1 run lead. It seemed like he saw it and just decided he couldn't catch it (though it certainly appeared he could have).
  18. Bucks are going to have to make a couple other moves at some point...the roster is over the limit I believe. I'd imagine this means likely dumping Plumlee or Bayless, maybe both. Won't get much of anything back, but they'll need to do something. Be interesting to see if they do in fact wind up resigning Marshall at some point. I think he actually fits in better at PG than anyone on the current roster if they really want to play up tempo. Love the starting lineup and the bench actually goes really deep....Zaza, Henson, Dudley, Vasquez, Vaughn, (and at the moment, Enis, Plumlee and Bayless).
  19. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13186937/greg-monroe-chooses-maximum-contract-milwaukee-bucks
  20. My thoughts exactly. We needed shooting, but passing on a potential big that could have helped us immediately....I thought that meant we were pretty confident in our ability to sign a C in FA. We still could, and Monroe would be great, but that doesn't seem all that likely to me.
  21. Well Chandler to the Suns. There goes that option. Not going well for the Bucks and big men at this point as the two with Kidd ties are both already gone.
  22. Middleton returns for 5/70. Still seems like a ton to me. Brook Lopez returns to the Nets do cross him off the center list. Looks like we did meet with Monroe in the middle of the night last night so maybe something could happen there yet.
  23. It's looking more and more like Tyson Chandler might be the best bet to be signed. He seems to have some interest and we certainly seem to want him. He's the oldest, but that likely also means he's the cheapest and wouldn't require a long term deal (I'd say 2-3 years). It really boils down to Dallas. if they sign Jordan (which seems 50/50), they'll almost certainly let Chandler go. If Jordan goes elsewhere, then it gets interesting. I think Chandler would be a great fit. Solid on both ends, veteran leader.
