  1. It's problematic because he's taking up a roster spot that could be used on someone that might actually pitch in a game that's not a complete blowout. We need him to get through May and then hopefully land on the DL. If he makes it through May, he'll have 60 days service time and can get a bunch more in September to hit the minimum 90 days.
  2. Yeah, this is all true...but there's still quite a bit of time between now and then. Other guys could get hurt, become much less effective, etc. If everyone is healthy and pitching well, then keeping Wang does provide a pretty big problem.
  3. Braun, Prince and Morgan were all on the cover together back in 2011.
  4. Well if Gomez is in fact dinged up, this is a good time for the suspension. Give him those days for his back to heal.
  5. That is cool!! Might have to pick that up to get signed...I think he just had a signing around here too. Still cool...just hope to avoid the jinx!
  6. Sure hope tonight isn't a sign that things are turning for the Cardinals. They blow it in the 9th, then in extras...they get a single. Grimm then walks the next two guys and drills a guy on a 1-2 pitch to send in the winning run.
  7. Any update on Braun? I'm really hoping it's just that they're phasing him back in (though to stick to this plan AFTER Gomez already left the game seems foolish to me).
  8. I'm just begging for Gomez to hit one out off Cole tonight. Not sure if I want him to stand and watch it, or sprint around the bases as fast as possible. Either would be hilarious.
  9. A community one is better than nothing. I guess I liked the original Power 50 because I felt it was being done by someone (or multiple someones) that were more or less "experts" on our farm systems. I feel a community one would sort of lose that expert type feel. Maybe not, I'm sure lots of people on here know a lot about our prospects, but a lot of people like me, are also more general followers of it. If I were to submit who I feel our top prospects would be - it wouldn't be off scouting reports or anything, it would be off the occasional box score and what I've read from other posters periodically and that would seemingly defeat the purpose of it in the first place.
  10. I don't claim to be an expert on any of our prospects these days, but isn't it entirely possible that one of these "mid-back" rotation type prospects improves or takes a big leap forward to becoming an ace? Most of these guys are awfully young and are still getting better. Looking at the numbers of guys like Nelson and Jungmann this year (and to a lesser extent Bradley due to where he's playing), it sure seems like these guys are developing quite well, albeit slower than some of us have hoped.
  11. I'll be there and have every intention to give him a standing ovation the first time he comes to bat. Yeah he left for the money, but the guy almost single-handidly put us into the playoffs for the first time in 25 years. Every time he pitched that season was must watch and that last game is a memory I'll never forget. Edit: This is a good watch. It's more than just CC, but this almost makes me cry...all these years later. None of this happens (IMO) without CC. That's why I'll be standing and applauding him. And yes, I hope we hammer him and win the game.
  12. There is nothing positive. We've pretty much sucked the last 8 games. Well, our pitching has still been pretty good (yesterday aside) but our offense is brutal. Either we hit HR's and win or we don't score. We can't manufacture runs, we strike out a ton and our bench has been hit by the ugly stick about 100 times. Can Braun fix all that? Maybe. Doesn't help that Ramirez has suddenly forgotten how to hit and Lucroy seemingly has lost all his power this season.
  13. Arroyo comes in with an ERA over 6 and we wind up with almost as many double plays as hits. 4 double plays. I'm not kidding, we have to lead the league in this. This team is lost offensively right now and it's very, very frustrating to me. Losing a series at home to the DBacks is pretty tough to swallow. All those little things we were doing right for the first month have simply gone up in smoke over the last week or so. Highs and lows of the season I guess, but this particular 2-6 stretch has been pretty hard to watch. Double plays, outs on the bases, failure to execute sac bunts/sac flies.
  14. Enough with the double plays already!!! Especially out of our 3 hitters!!! I'm sure I'm over-reacting, but I swear we have to lead the league in DP hit into.
  15. The replay system needs to be revamped, period. This whole, let's waste time and just wait for the dugout to confirm it is pretty silly. If you come out to dispute a call, it should be an automatic challenge. As long as the next pitch hasn't been thrown, the challenge should be allowed. The system itself just seems completely flawed in this regard. We need a few random solo HR, I don't see this lineup stringing together any hits to actually score runs.
  16. 7 hits already? Anyone actually watching? Bad luck for Wily or is he getting hammered?
  17. Frustrating that it seems every time we give up a HR, there's guys on base. With the lineup we have today, being down a run seems like 5.
  18. Seeing how it's not on tv...does anyone know of a GOOD online gamecast? The MLB, CBS and ESPN ones frustrate me al the time. They lag way behind, freeze all the time and I think they suck. What do you guys use?
  19. The blackout rules frustrate me. The Brewers aren't televising the game today, MLB network is...yet it's still blacked out here in WI. I don't understand the rationale behind that.
  20. The owners need to get approved ASAP. They're going to need time to rehire a GM and a coach...and give those people enough time to prepare for the draft (which I believe is at the end of June). That's roughly only 6-7 weeks from now. Do we know for sure when these new owners get finalized and approved?
  21. Assuming he is ready on Monday, does he go play a rehab game or two this weekend? Or are they just throwing him back in there despite not seeing any live action for 15 days?
  22. True...RR certainly has his moments. It just seemed to me that with Yost, he did it EVERY game. Like leaving Dave Bush in the game one inning two long...every time he started.
  23. I know many on this board are familiar with the term "Yosted", as it was discussed in great detail how bad Ned Yost was at bullpen management and costing us games. For some reason, it's now finally reaching the national level: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/ned-yost-greg-holland-using-closers-in-tied-road-games/ Not that RR is great at this, but he's certainly not to the Ned Yost level of incompetency.
  24. I think Bianchi could handle 3b and RF if need be. He played LF I think a few games at least. And he can play SS, might not have the arm for 3b, but I'm sure he could handle it in an emergency. Maldonado/Lucroy could also handle 1b if necessary. Not saying it's a good thing and I completely disagree with the move, but they do have options.
  25. Sounds to me like Reynolds is playing RF tonight. Why not just keep Herrera and put Braun on the DL? Or better, dump Rickie Weeks. And I'm sorry but Herrera is better than Weeks. They both bring not much to the table offensively (though Herrera is quite fast), but Herrera can play 5 different positions - that's valuable. Weeks can play 1, and he plays it poorly at that.
