  1. Well, I'm not going to be upset about any player doing what they want for their careers. However, I appreciate solid Minor League depth players and possible break outs across the affiliates. C Ramon Rodriguez and C David Garcia? Sign me up. RHP Sam Carlson? Sign me up. OF's Lamar Sparks and Connor Scott? Sign me up. Etc. etc. Heck, I'm all aboard the let's see what we have in RHP Mitch White grab bag if we start him as a starting pitcher. You're darn straight I want Carlos D. Rodriguez, Chris Roller, Owen Miller, RHP Taylor Clarke and Mejia and Navarreto back in Nasvhille. The reality is, the majority of these players will likely go elsewhere. I don't have illusions about blue chip prospects but I've seen enough happen over the years where I know if we start with solid players and decent depth there will be unexpected breakouts and players helping at the MLB level.
  2. Boy, there are several players in this Mix I'd love to see come back and wear a Brewers affiliated uniform. Lottttta solid Minor League players above.
  3. Indeed although the circumstances of Baez being out are concerning.
  4. Alas, the return of the 'Beach Chickens' - the highlight of the homestand. LHP Nate Peterson takes the bump for another go at a start. It has very much been sink or swim for Peterson in 2024 so let's hope he can at least make it two times through this problematic Biscuits batting order. WIlken sits for the second conseuctive game after his mysterious disappearance in game three's ninth inning. CF Adam Hall returns after last night's ejections. 2B Dylan O'Rae plays for the second consecutive night in lead-off as he appears to have moved past his brief hip malady after swiping second base last weekend. Let's see if the Shuckers bats can give us an anomalous break out performance!
  5. The T-Rats trail the Quad City River Bandits 3-1 in their six game Homestand. It certainly hasn't been easy through four games. After RHP Ryan Birchard's abbreviated struggles last night, we'll hope to see steady RHP Will Rudy give his team a solid outing to steady the ship. 2B Jadher Areinamo is back in the lead-off spot with SS Eduardo Garcia continuing to bat second on a night-after-night basis. CF Luis Lara bats third again with 1B Jesus Chirinos once again batting clean-up and bringing his glove to first base. I am pretty keen on the C Ramon Rodriguez to LF Hedbert Perez 5 and 6 spots. Let's hope the T-Rats can turn this series around and head toward a split.
  6. And, tonight we'll see LHP Anthony Flores take the bump for his second consecutive start as the Mudcats take a 4-0 series lead into game five. Flores has held hitters to a lowly 0.127 BA in August with a stellar 0.74 WHIP and 2.37 ERA. 19.0 IP, 19 K, 6 BB, 1 HB, 8 H, 1 HR, 5 ER for the month. Marco Dinges is back at the DH spot hitting second with CF Yophery Rodriguez back in his customary lead-off spot. Reece Walling is back at 1B and we see that Eric Bitonti is back to the hot corner filling in for the unknown injury to stalwart Juan Baez. RF Miguel Briceno and LF Yhoswar Garcia will man the corner OF.
  7. With last night's 'W' the Mudcats regained sole possession of second half first place in the Carolina League North division. More importantly, Salem did indeed move within 2.0 G of Fredericksburg. That's a big development with 8 games remaining in the regular season. Kannapolis is giving the Fred Nats all they can handle in their current series. The Cannonballers will face Salem to close the season next week whereas Fredericksburg will close at Home vs the Hillcats. Down to the wire!
  8. BUMP: The former Brewers-to-Oakland A's pipeline continues. Athletics Claim Janson Junk
  9. Already down Adamczewski, the loss of Baez is really going to sting that top of the order. Not to mention, he's been playing a fantastic 3B. Pair these with Woodward's sudden uncertainty and that's a lotttttta high end talent suddenly on the sidelines. We've joked about Baez's over-aggression in our daily game threads on numerous occasions but he's really toned that down in his return from the shoulder injury. He's had a controlled aggression on the base paths but has been pivotal in terms of the attitude he brings to the line-up. Just an absolute gamer. This has been a war of attrition all year across the ranks. Let's hope all these young men have youth and regeneration in spades!
  10. Indeed. And so many thank you's for the update. When I saw it on the replay my hope (if I can call it that) was it was something like a lat strain or the like. Nothing structural but, rather, some type of muscular issue coming off the TJ as he works his way back. His arm seemed fine in the toss home. It just seemed like something on his right side tightened up on him and he lost full range of movement. That's the story I'm telling myself as we await work on his status.
  11. MLB Pipeline casually listing Hunt as 'the Brewers No. 29 prospect' is vintage Pipeline. You have a guy who has absolutely carved up three levels in a single season - transitioning to the Southern League and setting more personal bests - and you barely have him cracking a top 30? He's a five-pitch starter with 129 K over 92.0 IP and a 0.90 WHIP. I continue to be baffled by clubs pushing these Pipeline rankings as if they mean anything. Anywho, his 0-2 record with Biloxi is a painful testament to the offensively challenged quality of Shuckers baseball we have endured in 2024. 29 K: 2 BB. 22 2/3 IP, 4 GS, 2.38 ERA, 0.221 BAA, 0.93 WHIP. I don't know about you, but that screams 0-2🫠.
  12. Some extremely intriguing P/S adds today for the Packers. Getting CB Kamal Hadden as a Hafley perimeter man CB prospect for peanuts is pretty friggin' awesome. He's a true outside man guy with big time size. KC was using him in the slot this pre-season and it was super head-scratching. He is an outside guy all day every day. FB/H-Back Andrew Beck as a late add is perdy dang sweet. Beck can still do a lot of things and he's a pretty dang good H-Back/FB type. RB La'Mical Perine is certainly no longer an exciting prospect but he's a solid replacement for McCrary going on P/S IR - not much to expect here but perhaps worth a look.
  13. Yeah it's entirely unknown what happened to RHP Jason Woodward in that AB. Like @Kellerowlsaid: He threw a pitch in the dirt low and inside and in front of the lefty batter. He rounded the mound and in was in discomfort and simply said he couldn't go anymore. Clearly frustrated. Perhaps @ARobsBrewCrewcan give us updates as the season comes to a close. Man, I feel for this young man who was truly pitching fantastic tonight and has been putting together success each outing. So many tools. Really fantastic velo. Praying it's muscular and not arm/shoulder/elbow related. That's all I got.
  14. Shuckers bats once again giving K.C. Hunt nothing. Uncanny.
  15. Come on now! Devastated. He's looked really good since joining the team. I'll have to watch later tonight. Big sigh.
  16. After last night's 4-2 loss, the T-Rats will try to even their series at 2-2. They'll look to RHP Ryan Birchard to hopefully give a decent amount of innings after yesterday's bullpen extravaganza. 3B Jadher Areinamo jumps to lead-off while CF Luis Lara is batting third. DH Ramón Rodríguez will try to keep swinging a hot bat.
  17. RHP K.C. Hunt may need to be flawless given how the already challenged Shuckers bats support his efforts. Let's hope for a twist of fate and an offensive outburst! Welcome back to the line-up Dylan O'Rae. It's definitely noteworthy 3B Brock Wilken is absent after being mysteriously pulled for a PH in the 9th last night - he was nowhere to be seen and wasn't in the dugout. Hopefully, he's OK.
  18. I'm at a Toyota dealership BUT here's your evening's line-up card. RHP Jason Woodward is absolutely dealing through 2.0 IP - 0H, 0BB, 5 K.
  19. More on Narveson: Nails.
  20. Yup. Been speaking to this for the past three weeks. I've said it tongue and cheek at times given how utterly challenged he was out of the Pen. BUT, he does have a historicity as a Starter. It's been a wild August. I'll call it the "Ashby Effect". I mean, three out of four starts have been absolutely fantastic. Given the nature of the Sounds starting staff, to boot, it is extremely eye-popping and noticeable.
  21. I wondered the same. Tho, Jim doesn't have him listed HERE. I am wondering aloud if he doesn't have a bit of a braggadocio, so to speak, that rubs the coaching staff the wrong way from time to time. He has been pulled a couple times in games this season after what appeared to be possible lazy efforts out of the batters box. This is complete speculation on my part.
  22. I mean, he's really a luxury. Especially at the bottom of the order. They Lynchburg announcers have spoken to it on a couple occasions. You make it through the power bats etc and then suddenly you are facing a 7 hitter who is extremely adept at getting on base and then causing havoc. A 0.291 hitter with 61 SB in the seven spot is a really challenging obstacle for opposing pitching staffs. In the very least, he'll start next year at High-A Wisconsin I would imagine. When he is not in that Mudcats line-up his absence is absolutely felt. He's just entirely underrated in terms of how he impacts the overall end result. He also has very good range in the OF grass. Anywho, I continue to appreciate what he brings.
  23. Garcia trails only the Biscuits' Chandler Simpson (63 SB) who is absolutely running roughshod on the Shuckers pitching staff and C's Darrien Miller and Nick Kahle. Simpson swiped 4 bags on Miller last night. I continue to be mildly surprised by the overall lack of excitement for Garcia's season. He absolutely has true lead-off hitter upside. I also continue to be surprised he isn't used there, really, in any fashion by manager Nick Stanley. The Brewers agenda in Carolina is clearly giving 18-year-old blue chipper Yophery Rodriguez the vast majority of those lead-off AB's.
  24. I continue to ask myself: How is this Shuckers team leading a second half playoff push? These bats are painful. Just painful AB's. This is a really offensively challenged division of Double-A baseball.
  25. It's, ummmm, very very weird. I really hope Wilken is simply dealing with a bruised ego. An injury to Wilken would be pretty devastating overall. He's not even in the dugout. Meanwhile, Kahle joins the "Flail at any outside slider' Shuckers bats. If I'm a pitcher? I'm just setting those outside sweepers all night.
