  1. Smith went 1-2-3 in the 6th. Then gave up a complete goose snort oppo bloop to shallow LF over the infield and miraculously to the grass to start his 7th. Smith then misfires a throw to 1B as a pick-off. I can not tell you the number of times I've seen a Minor Leaguer misfire a quick turnaround throw to 1B. He got a line out to Sparks in RF - runner held. He then got the second out on a weak pop out to EMJ at 1B. In an 0-2 count to the next hitter he missed low and in the dirt. Then a foul down the 1B line into the stands. 1-2 count he elevated a slider to the upper corner and it was lofted enough for an RBI single to CF. It was 4-2. He then gave up another single to LF. Walked the next batter. Bases juiced with two down and that was when Holub got the call and shut it down.
  2. Martinez Jr. absolutely scorched a 104 mph oppo jack off the building past the fence. Just a dart. AND, WIlken drew the walk before the AB. Love it.
  3. Last night was nice. Tonight was really nice. The long ball and he has played absolutely fantastic defense at 3B. This really needs to become the norm. Obviously, he's not going to hit long balls every night. BUT, hard contact; good swing decisions; and plus defense is what we are looking for. We need to start stacking these into the playoffs. That's my hope. All the talent is there.
  4. Castillo knows he was robbed of a two-run jack earlier. He shrugs it off in the 8th. He rips a no doubter over the RF wall well inside foul territory. A pure missile and a huge insurance run. 4-2 Mudcats.
  5. Wilken is playing a fantastic 3B tonight. You love to see it. Clean glove in two key spots. Just threw out the lead-off in the 4th on a deep hard hit chopper. Got their quickly. Grabbed it cleanly. Turned and fired an accurate dart to grab the runner.
  6. The Knights inexplicably bring in a lefty to face 1B Wes Clarke. He proceeds to rip a 1-0 line drive single into the left CF gap. Plates two more. 9-2 Sounds.
  7. Sounds are adding on in the 6th. A HBP RBI for Arroyo and a Walk RBI from Black. 7-2 Sounds. Pitching change is coming. One down. Bases still juiced.
  8. Sparks. Solo jack over the LF wall. Another Sparks rip. He's been the most consistent offensive presence for at least two months. 100 mph rocket 378 feet. 2-0 Shuckers.
  9. Nava does it again. Just another clutch RBI poke. It's all he does. Love him. Just love him as a player. Rips a single up the middle infield with the infield in, one down, and Owen Miller standing at 3rd. 5-2 Sounds.
  10. Wilken snags a hard hit liner to his glove hand side to flash leather just a half inning after his line drive HR. Fantastic early going for the young man!
  11. Wilken turned on an inside slider that came back over. Solo rip. His 16th. That ball was scorched. You love to see it. 104 mph dart. 366 feet over that LF wall. 1-0 Shuckers. Two hard hit balls last night. HR today. Let's get away from August STAT! Woot woot!
  12. He digs deep and gets the swinging K on a high inside heater that arm side runs above the zone. Fantastic pitch. He escapes and will look to bounce back in the next frame with a cleaner inning.
  13. Kuehner is going to likely have to get this batter or risk being pulled. 1-2 count. Pitch count is approaching 30.
  14. Kuehner is already running into trouble in his first frame. Just walked a batter in a long 3-2 count. Pitch count at 25. Bases juiced. Two down. Hopefully, he can dig deep here and escape. 0-0 game.
  15. Another oppo rip from none other than muh man Isaac Collins. Hardest hit ball of the inning by muh ojos.
  16. Miller and Dorrian hit consecutive bloop singles (RF and CF, respectively) and Hicklen crosses. 2-2 game in Charlotte. Runners on 1st and 2nd. One down.
  17. Ground out to 1B. K swinging. Fly out to Garcia in LF in a 1-1 count.
  18. He also said: "I think you know in my time as a Hillcat I don't get excited about foul balls. I definitely don't get excited by opponents' foul balls." 😅
  19. Announcers are still chatting about the failed HR call. LOL. Both announcers are still perplexed.
  20. Home plate ump just blew a two-run jack by Castillo. My goodness. That ball was crushed. It was inside the foul pole. Ump blew the call. Man. Unreal. Stanley came to home plate to chat briefly. Both announcers knew it was a homer. Capital Lame. LOL.
  21. Diaz just continues to show a lack of refinement with his throwing arm. He throws a lazy ball to 1B in an attempted pick-off move and catapults it into RF. I can't tell you the number of times I've seen weak throws or slow throws that have resulted in SB or runners advancing. It's a problem. Mercifully, Castillo made an accurate throw to the cut-off and Guilarte threw a dart and the runner was nabbed at 3B.
  22. RHP Jack Seppings - the Brown University UDFA - will make his first appearance as a Brewer coming out of the Pen.
  23. Hardin gives up a deep fly to the LF warning track Garcia leaps and graps it before falling into the wall. One down. Hardin is pulled already. Not a debut performance to remember whatsoever. Is what it is. 3-2 lead. Man on first. One down.
  24. The opener walk steals 2B on a delayed steal - Diaz caught framing for too long (silly lack of awareness). Hardin then is left out to dry by the sub-par defense of Luis Castillo who lumbers toward the warning track and fails to track the ball into his glove as it falls on the dirt. Hardin gives up a first pitch oppo liner to LF on the first pitch to the next batter. 3-2 Mudcats. Diaz has to be sharper - this is a repeated pattern of lack of sharpness behind the dish. And Castillo has to do better with his glove on that play. All this being said, Hardin isn't sharp.
  25. Hardin opened his 2nd frame in an 0-2 count. He then walked the batter. The bat never left his shoulders.
