Shuckers lose game one 8-4. Ugly effort as a whole. Glad that game is over. -
Corniel just struck out the side. He has 7 K through 4 IP.

Another defensive miscue. This on a failed scoop by EMJ on a short hop. If he let's that ball through to Martin they are very likely out of the inning. BUT, this is the current brand of Shuckers baseball: not a winning brand. He tries to make the play on the short-hop and absolutely botches it for a two run misplay.

Corniel walks the bases loaded. He also strikes out the side. This game one at Five County is all sorts of 'Huh'? LOL. On to the 4th. 9-0 Muddies.

That's the third full count walk for Corniel in the 3rd frame leading 9-0. That's 4 BB in his outing. 55 pitches so far. In fairness he threw a filthy breaking pitch that looked like a possible K looking in his last batter faced. Regardless, bases juiced. Two down.

Muddies lead 9-0. Corniel walks consecutive batters in 3-2 counts. One down. Just pepper the zone young man. No need to nibble anything here. We have a mound convention.

9-0 Muddies after two complete. Nice playoff tune up in Game 1 here. We had a final RBI there via WP and then a PB. The Shorebirds have broken out the DSL Orioles uniforms tonight.

Three errors for the Shorebirds to pair with their zesty first inning. If I didn't know any better, I'd swear Delmarva is chasing a Southern League South division playoff berth with this zesty ball they are playing!

My favorite part of the inning were Bitonti's walks. Was down in each count. Laid off everything to earn two free passes.

Muddies drove the starter at 35 pitches in the first. Garcia walked. Yoshwar walked. It's 4-0 as they greet the next pitcher with another walked in run. Yophery is back up to the dish. That's the 10th Mudcat. Yophery walks in another Mudcat run. Wow. 5-0 Muddies.

O'Rae walked with one down (Martin K'd to lead off frame). EMJ grounded out to 2B. Wilken K'd looking. 6-4 deficit headed to the top of the 7th.

Catillo K's on a high heater above the zone. Guilarte rips a 3-1 line drive single into LF scoring Dinges. 3-0 Mudcats. 106 mph off the bat. He continues swinging a hot bat.

Kuehner escapes by getting the inside check swing chopper down the 1B side. He sells out with a full front dive into the grass and throws the runner out from his knees. Heck of a play. On to the 7th. Regardless of how this game goes, you tip your cap to the young lefty for working into the 7th even though he certainly didn't have his best stuff. A 2-2 WP inside and in the dirt caroms off the catcher's glove. Bitonti scores. Runners advance. DP ball eliminated. 3-2 count. 2-0 Muddies.

Kuehner has re-discovered his ability to paint the zone here in the 6th. Pitch count is at 92. Just gave up an 0-2 two down single into RF through the 1B/2B gap. Next batter executes a masterful first pitch bunt down the 3B line and Warren, surprisingly, handles it cleanly with the bare hand with no plays at any base. Two on with two down yet again.

Di Turi walks in a run. 1-0 Muddies. Bases still juiced. One down. Three consecutive free passes. Pitch count for the Shorebirds' starter is 22. We have an early mound visit from the pitching coach.

If we could get EBJ's bat (and swing, that swing) just a percentage of what his defense is we're cooking with gas. His defense is an absolute premium.

Warren swings and K's on an inside heater. His roller coaster game continues. 6-4 deficit we head to the bottom of the 6th.

Baez reached on an error to SS. Takes second via balk. Bitonti works an 0-2 count for a walk. Men on the corners. One down. Yophery opened yet again in lead-off with a swinging K. Way too many K's for a lead-off hitter yet the org remains committed to the process.

Sparks walks em full on five pitches. Really patient eye. Several close pitches.

EBJ lined out to the left CF gap (just before the warning track) nice catch. Hall walks. Men on 1st and 2nd yet again. One down. Let's see if the Shuckers can make something happen. Sparks will get the first opportunity here.

Corniel has come out razor sharp. After the ground out he gets a swinging K. And, then the next batter sneaks a grounder inside the 1B line but Castillo charges the bounce off the foul wall and throws a dart to 2B to grab the runner. That's a non-routine three-up and three-down inning with a K. Wilken opened the Shuckers 5th with a line drive single into shallow LF. EBJ to the dish.
