  1. I don't know if it's any more embarrassing than the litany of other blown 1st rd picks not named Giannis. It's a skill Hambone passed to Horts.
  2. Is what it is at this point. One step forward. Two steps back. Such is the nature of his attempt to comeback.
  3. Kenny re-upping for 3 yrs and $64 Milly is another shoe dropping in the: Love's deal is done. No way they get that done without knowing the parameters of J-Love's deal. At least, I certainly would think not. What do I know? 😅
  4. RHP TJ Shook. What can I say? One of my favorite unheralded, under-appreciated, under-discussed talented arms in the system. The 2020 undrafted FA worked his way up the organizational ladder into the Swiss army knife of the Shuckers pitching staff the past two seasons. When TJ was locating in or near the zone, he was as good a starter as most in the Brewers system. Ever the selfless teammate, however, he filled any and all roles for the Shuckers pitching staff and was nearly always available. I personally think his best days are ahead. And, I personally think the Brewers sold Low here. He had shown the ability to strike batters out at a near 28% clip to a reduced walk rate of just 8 % this season - improved numbers building off his fantastic close to 2023. His change-up has shown flashes of being one of the better pitches in the system. And, when he's on his game, his heat has plus movement. The Brewers love their AAAA pool of arms, and Jay will most certainly enter that Mix. But, I like this trade much better for the Mets today than I do the Brewers. Again, these are just my opinions. Sad to see TJ go but I will most certainly be following him in the Mets system.
  5. Best of luck to 'The Shookster'. He has the tools. His development will ultimately come down to accuracy in and around the zone - can he be consistent with his best stuff on a more consistent basis? When he is dialed, he is very very good. He simply lacks the polish of consistently putting his best foot forward. The Mets get a Swiss army knife pitching prospect. Still just 26 years old, he has filled any number of roles for the Shuckers the past two seasons. Starter; long relief; short relief. You name it, he can give you those innings. It's a sad day in my Man Cave. I wish him all the best. I personally feel his best days are ahead of him - I truly believe that having watched his entire career. In my book, it certainly feels like the Brewers sold Low on his tools. The Brewers love those fringe end-of-40-Man arms. Jay enters that rotation.
  6. His current game reminds me a lot of Babe Ruth.
  7. Also...psssst...the affiliates are already 4-0 today baby. Red hot Biloxi (who won 19-1 last night) haven't even played yet and the Sounds have their second of a double-header. Let's get that elusive 7-0 BABY!!!! Come on, men!
  8. Game Thread over-reactions are in post-season form today baby. Meanwhile, what an incredible escape act from Elvis there. Who, apparently, had not left the building. Who knew?!?
  9. I continue to absolutely not understand why MLB catchers and relievers insist on challenging Rhys with high heat? Do they understand tendencies and heat maps? Just silly choices. Anything but high heat in a pitcher's count.
  10. Those were some gutsy pitches from Koenig. Glorious. Turned em up a notch to boot. Whewwwww.
  11. I can see it now. ESPN's Chourio headline: "Chourio hits fly ball over the wall. Ruled a Home Run."
  12. Don't get me started on ABS. Yuck. LOL. Challenge system? 24/7; 365. 100%.
  13. Now that he's comfortable and relatively adapted? Absolutely. Obviously, it's baseball, so it's not going to happen every time. BUT, he showed (very early, mind you) he is made for big moments. He is just different. And, still... Send him down. No wait. We should have sent him down in May, right? How does this work?
  14. Bryce swings at two ball fours BUT with this ump they likely were two strike 3's. Tough sledding up there.
  15. Churrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrio. Ok, don't send him down. BUT, darn it. Think hard about it. Think real hard!
  16. Heck, DFA everybody. Let's send a message. We mean business!
  17. DFA Chourio. You can't risk your health like that. Send him down.
  18. Yeah. We're going to trade Barrios for Civale and because he gives up 5 runs (in a game which he was screwed of outs) and some long balls we're going to DFA him. Come on now, folks.
  19. He's in the 80's. In a 2-2 count. Already struck the batter out. It was a bad pitch. BUT, it was pretty dang clear Zastryzny is warming up to face the lefty. It is still a game of match-ups.
  20. Uncanny how many calls have gone against the Crew this season. Uncanny. AND, even though he blew the strikeout call...that was a terrible pitch in that count.
  21. What a ridiculous pitch. Come on Civale. What was that hanger. Ridiculous.
