Manuel was fine but he was up in the zone all night. Very much unlike his Beloit outing where he was dominating on the edges and low in the zone. It makes a big difference. He didn't have his best stuff by a significant margin if we're using last week as a baseline - which I am. 😅 -
Massive Dub for the Crew tonight. You love to see the grit to pull that out. Some uncharacteristic defensive gaffes. A bullpen giving up runs. A game ripe to be given away. BUT, alas, it will go down as a 'W' and prevents further ground gained by anybody.

The, um, Langhorne ninth inning did not go as smoothly as the 8th. It's a 5-1 deficit. FIscher to the dish with two down.

In a night of unimpressive bullpen meltdowns across the full-season affiliates, RHP Miles Langhorne gave us the 1-2-3 8th inning we deserved. Thank you, Miles!

So we have two pitching masterpieces wrecked by immediate bullpen meltdowns. One in Zebulon. One in Montgomery. I checked out of the Sounds down 7-1. I am still knee deep in the T-Rats trailing 3-1 in the 7th. Oh joyous me I am en route to an O-for-4 report. I will do my best to bring the positives. Maybe I'll just write about the Micah Parsons to GB rumors.

Falls behind 3-0 again. Gives up a deep sac fly to the RF warning track Spain chased it down and threw another Spain cannon into the infield. We'll have a pitching change. 2-1 Biscuits. BOooooooo! Hunt deserved better. Hernandez absolutely deserved better. Not to be.

Peek walks in the first. Because, it is absolutely that kind of Brewers org Minors bullpen night. And, yes you bet, I am the lucky one watching and reporting here. 😅

Bases juiced. Nobody out. 1-0 Shuckers.

Things are starting to fall apart for the Shuckers and RHP Zach Peek in the 8th. Sigh. It definitely is that kind of night...Burke charged a bunt and took it from his pitcher and had no such magic like this past series. He lost the out everywhere and was late throwing back to first base.

I just watched Dinges airmail anothe ball into CF. Sighs. There is pain tonight. Pain. Before his injury he had that throw back in his bag. Since his return he is back to 2024.

RHP KC Hunt is absolutely shoving. 7.0 IP, 1 H, 9 K, 0 R. Meanwhile Spain just rocked a ball right to the RF wall. Man, I thought that was gone off the bat. Kind of inexplicably hung there.

It was brutal. The 'veterans' on the ball club continue to mostly look lifeless at the dish. Di Turi and Anderson were just entirely uncompetitive all night. Then you tack on Di Turi's error that left Nova high and dry in what was a clear DP instead of a tying run crossing and him getting the pitch count close to 30 after 1.0 IP. It was brutal.

That's an embarrassing loss for the Mudcats and manager Nick Stanley. Truly. They absolutely played the part of one of the younger Low-A teams in MiLB. It was truly ugly.

Why wouldn't Di Turi get that golden sombrero? Just a brutal night in a truly brutal August. Tack on that earlier error and, man, this is one of the rougher nights I've seen from a prospect of his stature.

Naturally, the home plate ump calls the identical pitch a strike he called a ball to send that run across. This guy has been all over the map.

Hodges walks in a run. Because., of course. The home plate ump very clearly squeezing him in that AB, however. Thought two pitches could have easily gone his way given how he has called the game. That's now 7 walks by the Mudcats bullpen through a mere 2 2/3 IP. Just gross.

RHP Garrett Hodges comes aboard after Nova walked two aboard in the ninth with two down. He joins the bullpen party by hitting his first batter in an 0-1 count. This Mudcats bullpen performance has been pretty gross.

2-1 count. Ump calls a pitch he's been calling a strike all night a ball. Because, well, because. Ugh. 3-1 count. Fouled back to a 3-2 count. Goodness. We are at 27 pitches. Bases juiced. 3-3 game. Fouled back again - down the RF line. He gets the punch out looking on a knee-high dead center heater. Whewwwwww. Time to take a break and do some farm chores.

And, the homeplate ump gives Nova the call on an inside breaking ball that clearly was not a strike. We'll take it! He gets the punch out and now has the chance to escape without further damage. 3-3 game. Bases juiced. Two down.

We haven't seen a Nova outing like this in quite awhile. He walks the next batter. Bases loaded. Not the end of the world, however, given there is an out at any base now with one down. Immediately up into an 0-2 count.

0-2 count. Nova throws a belt high heater. Oppo RBI single into RF. It is predictably 3-3. Runners on the corners one down. Hedbrert pokes a single into CF and it's 1-0 Shuckers. Nice work, young man!

Eduardo Garcia leads off the Shuckers 5th with a line drive double into the LF corner. Man on 2nd. Nobody out for Hedbert. 0-0 game.

Goodness gracious. Now a tailor made hard hit ground ball right to Di Turi. He makes his 0-for-3, 3 K outing worse. His 16th error. Can't gather it. Rushes. Can't get the runner at first either. My goodness. Brutal. You have a guy who is struggling to find the plate and you botch that DP ball. Hurt me. Men on 1st and 2nd. Nobody out. The next batter successfully sac bunts them over. Men on 2nd and 3rd. One out.

Sigh. Nova repeats Reyes' work and walks his first batter. That's 3 BB by the bullpen in 1.0 IP so far. Not a winning formula.

Three up and three down for the Muddies in the 7th. On to the 8th. I think Nova likely comes aboard.
