Spain had consecutive OF PO's and he gets the leading Sac Fly to deep CF. 4-3 Shuckers. You have to love it. Meanwhile, a bunch of seeing eye weak contact has the RailRiders up 1-0 via sac fly. Two down. And we'll see a pitching change.
Darrien Miller just tied it up with a double deep into the RF corner - it may have been a deep single and a fielding error (?). He scores Pratt (single to RF) and Murray (3-2 BB). 3-3 game now in the 4th.
Yup. 3-1 count. Took a strike looking inside. Took a strike looking at a 95 mph heater on the outer black. Close call but you can't take that one. Caminiti is a very tough lefty on lefty match-up but Walling has been in a real slump for quite awhile.
That was a really poor inning for Wichrowski but he benefits from two put outs from Spain in RF. After the DP, Wichrowski walks the next batter. Bases juiced yet again. He then gives up a 3-2 single into RF. SPain guns down the second runner trying to score in a bang-bang play. Beautiful tag my Miller who appeared to get the lead hand just before it touched home plate. 3-1 deficit. On to the 4th.
Big DP for Wichrowski. The runner goes from 3B on a shallow pop fly to RF. Spain and Miller combine to gun him down and tag the runner before the plate. Two down. Still 2-1. Runners on 1st and 2nd.
With runners on 1st and 2nd, in a 3-2 count, Wichrowski walks the bases full. And, a weakly hit reach poke blooper into shallow CF ties the game 1-1. Bases stay juiced. Nobody out. 1-1 game now.
A bunt advances both runners. Di Turi makes the nice charging play with a solid throw for the out at 1B. Smith throws a massive WP to the backstop but Walther and Smith somehow get the runner in a bang-bang play at the plate. Impressive. Two down. I have no idea how they got him but it must have been a great bounce. AND, Smith escapes via a ground out to 3B. They stay in a 1-0 deficit. Big work there.
AND, now Made's turn to take the routine and get eaten up. These are bad errors. That ball couldn't have been hit more than 50 mph. Made charged it a bit slowly and was eaten up on the bounce. A routine play once again botched by the young'ns. Tough game for Made so far. Swinging K. Fly out. Now a fielding error.
A lead off single off of Smith is compounded by a silly fielding error from CF Jose Anderson. He let's a very weakly hit roller somehow go under his glove and the runner is in scoring position. Ugly play.
And the Sounds strand them full for the second time. He gets the K in relief of Cargo. 0-0 on to the 5th.
Meanwhile Adamczewski just walked. That's a single and a BB in lead-off. Fine work.
That's three K's on the four-seamer. That one belt high inside. He won't finish the inning but he gets his 2nd out via K (second consecutive). Called at 74 pitches and his night is done at 3 2/3 IP. Sweetie will go with a Lefty-on-Lefty match-up with Macjiceiweski getting the nod
Funnily enough, I am used to this version of Cargo over the years. He's touching 93-94mph when he dials back on the four-seamer. I guess I'm used to Cargo losing his stuff randomly in any outing. 😅
And, nowhere close in the next AB we are in Cargo Dejà vú. A four pitch walk to load the bases. These Cargo blow outs happen in a hurry and they tend to happen like this when he suddenly loses everything.
First base traffic for Cargo since the first frame. He opens his 4th inning with a single to LF and now walks another batter. Men on 1st and 2nd. Nobody out.
Home plate ump just called out Tyler Rodriguez on a pitch clock violation in a 1-2 count. Thing is Caminiti hadn't really gotten to the rubber so Tyler was waiting to align his entry to his early set up. Just a stupid call by the ump. Absolutely just searching for a reason to make a signal.
Augusta is on the board first tonight. 1-0. Single up the middle past a diving Adamczewski. SB (no throw). SB (close play at 3B). Ground out RBI to 1B. Smith sees no more damage with a final out groundout to Made at SS. On to the 2nd.
