  1. (I'm putting this here as we don't have a general NBA thread) Oh my my my... That is a significant injury and, I wonder, does this fall under the category of 'Ball don't Lie'? This is really not good for a hopeful Mavs team.
  2. I tell you what I do like, letting the Celtics and Nets beat up on each other in a 7 game series. This obviously isn't a certainty, but with Ben Simmons also rumored to be returning for Round 1 those 2 can have at it before we face either opponent. Boston and Toronto are both tough outs for us as they play Giannis quite well. With Boston, it will really all depend on the health of Robert Williams as they get into post-season play. He makes their defense elite.
  3. For those of you wanting to see the lay of the land, here's the entire Playoff Bracket as is with the regular season finishing today:
  4. Man I live for these posts. That T-Rats team is going to be fun in 2022. If this first week/weekend of baseball is an indication we are in for a fun 2022 in the lower Levels. I love Frelick, he's a fantastic young man and a hell of an athlete, and I know there is another consensus across multiple platforms/outfits, and tho I admittedly might be biased <coughs>, and tho I am saying this right here just to add in 2 more commas, Joey Wiemer is currently our #1 prospect in the minor leagues. He has made the jump to a near professional hitter every AB. He can play RF and CF with ease and agility. His arm is an absolute weapon out there. He has size, strength, speed, and discipline. He is the full package.

  8. It got exciting in the end, @damuelle. Another walk off. This time a 2 run single up the Middle from Mr. Black:
  9. WOW. Devanney just made a great play at the Hot corner. Picks up a chopper right at the bag with ease and poise and rifles one right on the money to First where he turns the double play! Break out the Brooms! What a great opening series for our 2022 Shuckers.
  10. We have bases juiced. 1 out. And Herb still on the mound. After taking a comebacker off his tailbone with 1 down, Herb has given up 2 singles to LF. Here we go. These are they high leverage outs. Luna is up in the bullpen.
  11. Thankfully, Freddy didn't get another opportunity in inning 8 to further question his throws to First. Tyler gets a fly out to Middle-Deep CF where Wiemer hauls it in. After one false insurance step backward, and sitting under the lofty fly ball, Joey hauled it in and launched an absolute rocket to 3rd base. No bounce. He has an absolute cannon of an arm, my goodness. The runner stays at 2nd. Herb then follows up with a breaking ball over the heart of the plate catching Conine Jr. looking elsewhere late in the 3-2 count just after laying off a very enticing and very well delivered low breaker just below the zone. On to the 9th, where the Shuckers look to complete the sweep.
  12. With one down, Zamora takes a very routine grounder and absolutely air mails another throw to first. Paging Dr. Yips: Please leave the playing field.
  13. The real Bucks news, as far as I am concerned, today is the Class the organization showed allowing Jrue to play a mere 8 seconds ensuring he picked up a $306k Bonus for games played in during the regular season. You love to see it. Just top notch classy stuff.
  14. 29 yo Tyler Herb with a very clean inning after Zamora's throwing error inducing 2 fly outs to Valerio in LF (another familiar organizational positional shift for a promising young prospect) who fights off a very intense glare off the 1B side of the ballpark to safely corral both fly outs. Tyler finishes with a 94 mph K. You love to see a prospect up in age hitting the strike zone with ease.
  15. Zamora just airmailed a routine grounder for his 2nd throwing error on the young season. Both throws were high and could have been thrown safely from LF. Let's hope this doesn't become a pattern.?
  16. My Wiemer antenna must have gone off. I check in to Biloxi, up 3-1 (on zero base hits but 2 errors) in the 7th and Joey in a 0-1 count. He drove the count to 3-2. Fought off several pitches then took a very enticing low breaking ball and finds a BB and a trip to 1st base. I'll just say this: It is early but Joey Wiemer has put together pro AB's in nearly every trip to the plate since calming his nerves after his first AB. There is so much to like in this young man. A very very impressive start to his season. The flip side to this would be Dillard's 3 pitch K on a breaking ball over the heart of the outside-middle. LOL. I'm a Wiemer Dreamer.
  17. Gotta love that. I had to run out of the house after Mejia was scuffling and gave up the sac fly. Great to see both Sanchez and Perdomo locking it down early in their AAAA roles.
  18. Absolutely, and I would add: he looked really nice doing it today. Controlled. Hitting the zone. His breaking ball was really effective. He definitely has a frame that says: possible major leaguer here. Will be a fun one to keep an eye on.
  19. Sounds about right. He did have an abbreviated 4.1 inning outing in the opener yeah? Will be interesting to see what the thinking was there. I'm switching over to that broadcast now. If I hear anything, I'll chime in. Edit to Add: Jeff Hem did remind viewers with the Monday Days off across the League, and with 28 game day roster members and 5 on the taxi squad, the rosters are stacked. Sundays might just be mandatory bullpen days to cycle through arms and keep arms fresh. Case and point, Thomas Jankins was electric w 2 k's on 12 pitches and JC Mejia is back on the mound.
  20. Whew, baby. Mudcats escape with a lazy ground out - 2nd to SS - for the out at 2nd base. Tietz inherits 3, allows the 1 run on the walk, but induces the 4-6 put out. 11-9 Mudcats who start the season 3-0 with the sweep against the Wood Ducks.
  21. It's getting interesting. 11-7 Mudcats. Brustowski just gave up a single to LF for a run and then walked in a run. Tying run is at the plate. Excuse me, he walked in another. 11-8 Mudcats and the Go-ahead run is now at the plate. Not a good debut for the former Red Raider. He came in over-amped, then he just looked tired and couldn't locate. We'll go to the pen for our early-season bases loaded SOS commander, Trevor Tietz. And, Trevor comes aboard to surrender yet another walk and a run scores. Bases juiced. 11-9 Mudcats. 2 outs.
  22. Nevermind, he just hit his 3rd batter on a full count. All 3 hitters batting from the right side of the plate. I would say, Jakob is a little amped up in his first action. ?
  23. Brustowski comes on to close this game And proceeds to throw all fastballs...hitting the first batter up and in, striking out the next 2, and hitting the next. Let's hope he gets back to the strikeout route before he injures someone. He's hitting 92-94 mph on the gun but the ball is definitely jumping on guys. Lots of late swings.
  24. And, just like that, Puello overmatches Down East batters in the Top of the 8th. His first hit surrendered as a seeing eye single up the middle, the 21 yo proceeds to strike out the side with a very nice mix of heat and breaking balls keeping all 3 batters entirely off kilter. 2 go down looking with sneaky breaking balls finding the inner part of the plate. He is scheduled to take the victory in this outing. 6 k's in his 3 ip so far.
  25. Hasler came aboard and walked his first batter and, then, on a full count induced a fly out to Rodriguez in RF. T-Rats escape, enter the Bottom of the 6th still trailing 1-0. Pinero, batting in the 9 hole, will start the inning. The T-Rats will then flip the order back to the top as Frelick is on deck and Black in the hole.
