  1. I like what I'm seeing from Israel Puello in his first action outside the DSl and the AZL. He's pitched 2 scoreless today in Carolina with 3 k's: nice action and location on his fastball with good command overall and also appears to have a breaking ball in its early stages of development. This is a relief arm worth monitoring through the season.
  2. Sibrian with his second hit of the inning, a hard hit grounder that splits 3rd and Short and ricochets to slow down in a dribble to the LF grass. Perez scores and it's 11-5. This is a 7 run inning. If you're weary of the Brewers slow start, my friends, we have plenty of hot bat action going on in Low A through AA.
  3. Hedbert Perez enters the Double Trouble score sheet with his first hit of the young season - a rope of a double one-hops off the RF fence. It's 10-5 Mudcats.
  4. Oh dear...Micah Bello just ripped a deep double to Center-Right on a 1-2 count. Perhaps, if Mr. Lutz would step aside for one moment, Micah Bello is our hottest prospect in the early going. 8-5 Mudcats. We might have to make an early season 'Doubles Scoreboard' for the Farm. For those scoring at home, that's 5-3 Bello to Wiemer. LOL.
  5. In a bounty of hot starts in our Lower Levels, Jefferson Quero continues his truly torrid start. Whewwwwww. Laces a double and it's 6-5 Carolina Bottom of 6. He is 3 of 4 today with 3 rbi's on the day. Jheremy Vargas just walked to load the bases with 0 outs. Put those rally caps on.
  6. I'm telling you, watching the Minor League games and/or gamecasts is worth it alone to see where we're going to try out our prospects next. Turang in CF? When I saw Joey in CF last night in Pensacola, I had to do a double take. Naturally, @damuelle had already posted the line up in the thread, but it was definitely a surprise. And, he looked extremely natural. We truly witness 'development' on the Farm and it's a true joy to watch.
  7. That's what we call a 'Deep Cut'. WKLH weeps.
  8. Wow, Smallsy already back on the Mound? LOVE it. It was such a joy to hear of his DL experience and how he adapted. He quickly became one my Brewers Farm faves. Thanks for the posts, gents.
  9. According to reports out of Miami, just to add perspective, it would appear his car ran out of gas and he was getting out of the Driver's Side door at the time of the accident. Obviously, it is tragic any way you look at it. From the looks of the footage (HERE: Brief footage in Video atop page), it would appear he was extremely close to an exit. Regardless of what happened, 24 years old anyone is far too young into adulthood to meet your Maker. Just a tragic tragic event for all involved.
  10. I see a very real and distinct possibility Andrew could enter into that Top 10 and even the Top 5. He looks healthy - his knee is back under him in a good way - and dialed at the plate. I tend to think, after all is said and done, we see 30-35 HR and an OPS around 0.825 or higher. He is a joy to watch at the plate.
  11. Great stuff here, gents. Thanks for sharing!
  12. Did I mention the Tristen Lutz Renaissance? A 2 run Bomb to Deep Left into the Bay. 6-5 Shuckers as he brings Valerio home where he belongs. This opening series is anything but uneventful.
  13. Abner Uribe’s first action of the early season and we see a familiar story: Can’t locate. Throwing 99 mph heat but walked a guy to load the bases, gave up a seeing eye weak dribbler run-scoring single to 3rd and then walks another run in with the bases juiced in relief of Contreras. He manages to control himself and gets out of the 7th with a K. 5-4 Blue Wahoos. Onto the 8th. Are we going fo another extras affair?
  14. I would add to this Shuckers lineup: I find it of small note the Shuckers swapped Wiemer into CF for Mitchell in RF. Mitchell struggled running down a deep fly to CF last night early in the 4 run mark in the 2nd or 3rd (I fail to remember the proper inning, my apologies). He looked unnatural during the play and I remember thinking: that didn't look good. I don't know if this was a pre-planned decision but it might be worth something monitoring? OR, it is simply a means of exposing both players to different positions. Either way, Game 2. A RF to CF swap. Wiemer looks quite natural out there it is worth noting as he has cleanly played every ball his way.
  15. Valerio struck again to get the party started, gents: Wiemer and Lutz followed suit to tack on runs, respectively. Let the Lutz Renaissance begin... On to the 5th where Otero gives way to Luis Contreras. Contreras returns in 2022 off of a 2021 year where he spent most of his time on the shelf injured and leads his inning with a K of Conine Jr. (who, oddly, had more HR's last year than singles...and, yes, this is Jeff Conine's son). He follows by inducing a fly out just shy of the Warning track just shy of Center Field where Wiemer runs it down with ease and follows with a K. What a nice return for Contreras. You love to see that poise and badgering the strikezone for a 25 yo off of injury.
  16. Wiemer misses his First HR to Center-Right by about 6 feet. Just a tad under that one. And, I continue to wait with baited breath.
  17. Otero gets his 8th K with a nice mix of pitches and his 3rd strike on Encarcion is a middle to middle-in 88mph heater. Otero definitely has hitters off-kilter with a mix of high heat out of the zone, the aforementioned delicious sinking curve and a steady diet of some middle to middle in 87-88 mph 'heat'. The Raptor would be quite proud. Andy definitely knows how to dance in and around the zone - a real pleasure to watch. You can see he has a plan and knows how he wants to attack the zone. It bares mentioning, Diaz is calling a nice sequence and is digging these off the plate fastballs with athleticism and ease.
  18. I continue to be baffled by early-season ump strike zones. Otero absolutely robbed of his 8th k on a delicious high curve that hit the upper half of the strike zone. Men on 1st and 2nd 2 outs after a lazy fly out to Lutz in LF. Pitch count is up to 74. This will most likely be Andy's last inning.
  19. I just tuned into Biloxi, Gents. AND, the Wahoos proceed to hit a comebacker off Otero's arm. With time to nab the runner, Otero hobbles to the ball and throws it into the dirt and Dillard is incapable of digging it out. The Scorers score it a single...and, I am yet again flummoxed by the scorer's grace. 4-2 Biloxi Bottom of 4, man on 1st, 0 outs. Edit to Add: Otero strikes out the 2nd batter and now has 7 k's (?!?) in 4.1 innings. Get hot young man! Well, not that young for AA but get hot Mr. Otero!
  20. Well, no comeback? That stinks. On to the next. Let's hope Freddy is hot and the bats heat up.
  21. Ok, gents. I have to run to the grocery store with my 4 yo and my Mom. I merely hope it goes better than this game. Enjoy the rest of today.
  22. So, the ump stiffs another borderline strike call and then they score that an rbi single? LOL.
  23. Absolutely. I'm cool as a cucumber right now. This is Game 2. They look quite stinky but I don't get worked up in these games. We really never know a way a season is going. Case and point: Last season we stunk for a good month or more to start the season.
  24. I'm not directing anything at you, my friend. Sorry it came across that way. I'm more responding to the calls for Barker, in general, over the past year or two. And, more or less, sharing what I've seen from Barker personally.
