  1. Meanwhile, Pratt with a really poor error to put a runner on with two down in Hardin's third. Just a lazy error. Ugh. As routine as it gets.
  2. RHP Garrett Stallings continues to 'Wow' me in 2025. He really can not pitch any better than he is pitching. I mean this. Just in total control of his mix. He has 3 K through 2 2/3 IP. Just grabbed a swinging missing K on a gorgeous slider. 0-0 game.
  3. Meccage 'escapes' on a K after his 33rd pitch. Hardin opens his 3rd frame with a swinging K on a change-up that tailed below the zone (beautiful pitch - set him up perfectly.) 0-0 through 2 1/3 IP.
  4. 3 SB on Walther now. He drops the pitch. Runner over ran the base. No throw. Brutal first frame for the Mudcats pitching/catching battery.
  5. SLow roller to 3B. INfield hit. 4-1 SHorebirds. Swinging bunt. Dang. Pitch count 29. Di Turi barehanded it clean. Runner just beat it out. Brutal result there despite good process all around.
  6. 2 SB for the Shorebirds now - nice outer slide on a ball that got there in time. Man on 2nd. 1-2 count. Groundout to Peña at 2B. That's two down. Man on 3B. Pitch count at 25. Big AB here - goes without saying.
  7. Meccage adds a walk. That's four hits, a walk, 2 2B, and a balk. One down. Pitch count at 21. Mound visit. Entire infield and the pitching coach.
  8. Restituyo pokes a double to the LF corner to get a runner aboard top of 3. One down. Boeve to the dish for his second AB. 0-0 game.
  9. Meccage is now called for a balk. Nightmare first for the young righty. Nobdoy outs. 17 pitches. 1-1 count. Heads up play, however, he sees the runner headed to 3B early and despite the low throw DI Turi grabbed it and tagged the runner out. Huge out. Take a breath.
  10. Another poke. Four straight hits. A shallow bloop to RF. Holguin then over pursues and botches the gather. Just overran it and never picked it up. Nobody down. 3-1 Delmarva. Man on first. Pitch count at 15. Nearly every time I've watched the Muddies the past month on a Tuesday, they have looked extremely young in their execution. LOL.
  11. Meccage gives up the lead. 1-2 ahead in the count. Gives up a strength double to the right CF gap. Looked like a high off-speed. Belt high. Never broke. Sat back on it - nice piece of hitting but in that count...
  12. Yeah, I agree entirely there. Meanwhile, Meccage has fallen behind both batters early. Gave up a 2-1 single to LF (he stole 2B). Fell behind 3-0. Now it's a 1-1 game (3-0 double to the right CF gap). Meccage continues to be very raw despite the shiny tools. He is very very much a high school arm. Miles to go for this young man.
  13. Mudcats score one on a two out Di Turi single. Anderson was also sent home (for some reason) but was thrown out by six feet standing up. Really strange send early by Stanley given the arm of the Delmarva Rf'er. Two out BB by Bitonti. FIrst pitch single to left CF by Anderson. RBI single by Di Turi.
  14. Well the shape and movement are both macro terms, if that makes sense. Then there is the nuance within.
  15. Peña flew out to the LF wall. Seigler flew out to the LF warning track. Boeve flew out to the LF warning track. Shuckers and Sounds went three up and three down.
  16. THey haven't posted 'Warmup' on the MiLB.TV link for Biloxi @ Columbus. I can avow: it states 95 F but feels like 102 F. YIKES. I know that area and I guarantee there is some humidity to boot. Sounds awful.
  17. How deep do you want to go, Jim? This is a very involved question and answer. BUT, as a baseline, this is why I am such a massive proponent of 'tunneling'. If you can expertly tunnel your pitches, the shape of the pitch itself is even more impactful. Precisely why RHP's Manuel Rodriguez and Melvin Hernandez are so successful despite their low velo. Their shapes are awesome - Hernandez's change-up is <chef's kiss> Rodriguez's slider is <chef's kiss> because it all looks the same leaving the hand in the exact same locations. Uncanny. The tunneling challenges RHP Ryan Birchard faces with his uber-viloent delivery is precisely why the shapes of his pitches - tho quite awesome - aren't as effective as they could be. It's easy to see a ball is a ball in his case. SO, back to the original question: how deep do you want to go? In general, tho, I think it may just be easiest for you to think in terms of: (1) Speed/Velo (2) Horizontal Movement (3) Vertical Movement (4) Arm Slot (5) Release Point (6) Extension The consistency (more important in some aspects like Arm slot, release, extension) and range (more important in speed/velo, horizontal, and vertical) of all of these impact the the effectiveness of a pitch. Hopefully, this is a good starter?😅
  18. More importantly? C Marco Dinges is right back in the line up. Clearly he was pulled for reasons beyond anything serious. I have my suspicions of why he was pulled. Ecstatic to see him back in the lineup after a day off.
  19. If anyone is feeling spry for their pre-game routine, here is Chris Mehring in his 'Rattler Monday' podcast. I love these as my warm up for Tuesday's Game 1's: A little tidbit right off the bat in here: Cedar Rapids and Quad Cities never played a single game versus each other in the first half. Hard to fathom given their proximity. Cedar Rapids ended up sneaking in another division title whereas Quad Cities led the division nearly the entire first half until a late losing streak. That can't feel all that great given the end result.
  20. You know, for a moment there, I thought you were upthread without a paddle...then I realized that was just me.
  21. It is indeed the same shoulder he previously had surgery on. Obviously, we don't know the true extent of what he is dealing with as of yet but it certainly appears his ever-present injury bug has found him again during his rehab. I can't imagine how frustrating this all is for him. Hoping for the best.
  22. Our first look at LHP Joan Peña. Clear strikeout pitches at this level in the hook and change-up. Yowza.

  24. What a truly strange start to the NBA off-season. These current deals definitely feel 'off'. First Portland taking on Jrue's salary. Now this? OK? I guess? McCollum is expiring. For the Whiz it opens up a ton of cap space for their 2026 FA period. Perhaps, they know they have something brewing with their bevy of young talented guards and the impending arrival of McCollum's vet tutelage to pair with Khash's vet savvy style (if he can still run and jump, that is)? I mean, it's a salary dump. I have no idea what Dumars is thinking here? But, then again, I have little idea what the Pelicans are every thinking as an org.
  25. I do not know why OF Pedro Tovar has played so sparingly in this his third summer on the DSL Brewers (perhaps that answers my question?). Regardless, after quite a decent 2024 he came into today's tilt with only 11 PA in five games played. Well, he's back in the line up today batting 8th and playing in right field. 1-for-2, 2 R, 3 BB, 1 K, 1 2B. That's now 3 doubles in just 11 AB! Small sample? Absolutely. But, why? WHY? I ask for 'the people'.
