  1. The Brewers take on the truly terrible Colorado Rockies but they travel to Coors to do it, which is often an adventure.
  2. I’m out of town so whoever wants to start today’s thread, go for it!
  3. Oh, for sure. I just like pointing out that the Pirates have been playing well. That fanbase deserves some joy and it perfectly illustrates how baseball is such a silly game in small samples.
  4. The Good: Milwaukee is 17-9. The Bad: They're still somehow behind... the Pittsburgh Pirates? The Ugly: St Louis. LOL
  5. Because they hit the jackpot twice and are wildly incompetent otherwise… until this year. They finally addressed some of the issues that caused them to fail for basically a decade straight.
  6. Ohtani going to the Cardinals would be great IMO, as they’d blow all the prospect capital they have and then he would leave. I think there’s a near-zero chance Ohtani signs with anyone other than a coastal team. Maybe the Cubs, but the Ricketts won’t pay him so that’s a moot point.
  7. Willy, slow down a bit there my man, you had plenty of time. Great win. I think this Angels team is going to be very pesky this season and hang around in WC contention for most of the season.
  8. Yep, I’ve gone to a game solely to watch him pitch in past years.
  9. Fanbases of 29 teams wonder the same thing.
  10. Unsurprisingly, Tyler Anderson has regressed in the early going after moving from the Dodgers to the Angels. He's up against Brewers ace, Wade Miley. The Angels actually have a chance to be respectable this season after picking up a bunch of depth pieces to go along with Trout and Ohtani. But they suffered a big blow to that when young catcher Logan O'Hoppe went down a few days ago. If you're in the MKE area, I recommend getting down to AmFam just to watch Ohtani. He's worth the price of admission by himself and it's not as if the Angels come 'round these parts often.
  11. For sure. I think it’s incredibly unlikely Adames literally doubles his walk rate year over year but my biggest knock against him has been the fear of what happens to a free-swinging highly-athletic player once they lose half a step and the bat slows a little.
  12. Thumbs and wrists are unpredictable. I'm reluctant to say it's unlikely Frelick will be called up but it's certainly a possibility. Some guys bounce right back, others take time to get back to full speed. Thumb injuries aren't as scary as wrist injuries but they're not good, either.
  13. If Adames benefits from the shift restrictions a little while also keeping his BB% over 10%, it completely changes his profile as a player. It could take him from "good player but with serious question marks on the aging curve" to "legitimate top-five SS in baseball".
  14. This is my thinking as well. He’s going to need some time to get up to game speed. Two weeks at the very least, I’d think.
  15. Ah, good catch. Without looking, I assumed the Angels have a travel day tomorrow.
  16. I'm long past the point of getting upset over regular season games. I used to do it and wow did it impact my mental health and general well-being. It's also part of the reason why I'm less Twins-centric than I have been at times. If I'm not enjoying baseball, I shouldn't be watching it. So I got a laugh out of watching the Twins go all Yakkity Sax on the field and then went home. In the end, they won the season series against the Yankees and it's just one game.
  17. Woof, Friday's game might be a rough one. It appears Ohtani has not pitched since the 21st so he's likely the starter.
  18. I was at that game! It was terrible so I left!
  19. And he did it against a change-up. Maybe not quite as impressive as a breaking ball but good to see he did that against something off-speed.
  20. I tend to not get that worked up about a single game. But frequent mis-use of a player gets on my nerves, like the way Hiura was constantly being used last year. And when it comes to pulling, not pulling, or putting in a pitcher, the error has to be egregious for me to get mad about it... and while that happens, it's pretty infrequent.
  21. Literally every game thread ever after lineups are announced and/or a pitcher is pulled. Also if a pitcher is not pulled.
