  1. I'm getting a bit of "bot" feeling. maybe if you can pass a hundred google Captcha's will I believe...
  2. Before making that grand conclusion, how about going to the most likely excuses first - the Angel's management isn't very good & their pitching has been bad for a long, long time (the only improvement has been with Ohtani and he only pitches once a week).
  3. I don't think it's a stamina issue. They are committed to reducing the number of times a pitcher goes through the order without regard to whether the drop in effectiveness of those elite starters the third time through the order is likely better than the effectiveness of an average relief pitcher. Third time through the order and they are looking to yank the starter as soon as possible. No matter how well they are doing. It's not the pitchers, it's the team philosophy.
  4. Ok. It's important to have perspective. Hitting 0.179 with a 0.465 OPS through 156 EXCRUCIATING plate appearances, in your age 36 season after several years of declining production, is not "a little bit". Lorenzo, you aren't struggling, you are done. If you think that's just "a little bit" then your perspective is kinda bad. So can we put value on your other perspectives when you have already shown an inability to call junk, junk? Sure some people have a hard time being self-critical, but many of those same people don't have an ability to perceive actions around them correctly too. On a baseball team, leadership is earned, not given. Maybe by action, deed or words you didn't have the leadership you expected, but that's on you, not the team.
  5. Glad we could put up 3 runs on the back end of the Rockies Relievers. The Rockies managed 5 against ours yesterday then turfed our new closer. Too bad we can't seem to get over any humps.
  6. There's a difference in what you expect/hope for and what you build a roster around. Expecting 100% percentile performance from a chunk of your rotation is fine, but you will be sorely disappointed if they only make 90% and your plan only succeeds if they get to 100%. Plan for 90% and if you get more then great, less than make some changes at the trade deadline. I'm not arguing they can't be as effective in 2023 as they were in 2021, but you should be adding offense and looking for better middle relief as if you will get something in between 2021 & 2022.
  7. The Brewers pitchers seem to think putting on lots of baserunners isn't an issue. Sure if you watch the Brewers offense you would think that baserunners lead to faster outs, but they are pitching to good offenses (not the Brewers).
  8. Can we stop filling the game threads with general discussions when there are a billion other threads where they can be beaten to death?
  9. Bottom line is the players didn't get the job done. Leading 6-1 with 6 outs remaining isn't a difficult job. They have to keep a pitcher in for 3 batters and the Brewers rarely/never have someone warming up in case the reliever implodes. I am 99% confident that Perdomo for the 8th and Strzelecki for the 9th was the plan. I am not even sure they got Strzelecki up early, but they likely only had a short time to get him ready. So Perdomo had to pitch to the 4th batter because a replacement wasn't ready. Ultimately both relievers needed to do a better job. Rogers is not a lockdown closer, he has enough meh in his stuff that there will be games (is this now the 3rd time he's pulled a Hader?) when it doesn't play well, especially at mile high elevation. No manager is going to second guess them self to the media. It's not in their M.O. and no team wants a manager that second guesses themselves often or even at all. Asking them about a decision just leads to negative outcomes and teams will do what they need to to reduce that from happening.
  10. Went to bed last night thinking the Brewers were going to win their 2nd in a row and have a chance at a series sweep and momentum moving forward. Woke up to an implosion by the bullpen. I would have thought that this team has exhausted ways to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory, but they keep on coming up with new and improved ways to suck. The good news is at some point they will screw up screwing up so they will win.
  11. Why didn't those 3 pitchers replicate those numbers in 2022? What makes you think that they will likely repeat in 2023? The reason this year is sucking is they COUNTED on the pitching being as good in 2022 as it was in 2021 and they short changed the offense. Peralta and Woodruff struggled before they were injured and when they did get injured we were giving way too many starts to Jason Alexander and Ashby. AND the defense is worse because we no longer had an elite CF or a decent 2B (with Wong's defensive decline now in the 3rd year) or an adequate 3B and our 1B is meh and fields like a DH and our DH shouldn't play the field and our LF should be a DH. Why can't we have the same defense from 2021 in 2023? We might if Frelick is as good as they say and Turang replaces Wong at 2B or they shift Urias to 2B, but rookies likely won't be a positive with the bat for awhile (not like we got much from CF this year, but we did in 2021). Why can't we just have the best year from every player we have in 2023. There, such a simple plan and of course it has a great likelihood of working.
  12. I guess the humidoor is broken. It was on life support in 2020.
  13. Wong isn't a garbage fielder? Seems like it to me.
  14. There just isn't a lot of options at Catcher. We're likely not going to sign Contreras and shouldn't at his age. It's a weak position across the board and the ones who can hit worth a damn and have good/passable defense aren't in our price range. They could try to get another year out of Narvaez, but I think he'll get a multi-year from somebody and will be too expensive. It would be great if we could trade for someone like Sean Murphy. The A's are in rebuild and he likely is gone or in his last year before FA when the next window for the A's opens. He's Arby eligible next year so he starts to get expensive for them. While he's not going to get the return of Olson or Chapman, we would likely need to outbid other teams and are we going to give up maybe Quero and (Weimer or Mitchell), but the A's would start with Frelick and Quero plus for Murphy..
  15. I'd be amazed if they have Catcher high on their list. Both Caratini and Severino will be back next year (and Feliciano) and I am guessing that unless a Catcher falls in their lap they will be putting a priority on middle relief and getting a bat (hopefully a 3B). I think the DFAing of Severino came with a verbal guarantee from the Brewers that they twould bring him back in 2023 to platoon.
  16. Before this year I would have bet 700 lbs was a better odds than 700 HR. I guess that divorce and having to work for a contract has got him into playing shape and enough desire to get to 700. HR that is. I'm indifferent, just like I am becoming about the Brewers.
  17. I wonder if some of that relates to his decision to sit out 2020?
  18. Tellez is ranked 20th in MLB for 1B based on fWAR (includes baserunning and defense, both of which he is bad). A typical Brewers hitter that is good/great in one aspect and bad in the others.
  19. In 2018 we had the 3rd and 4th best OF in MLB (Yelich/Cain), the 6th best 1B (Aguilar), and the 8th Best 3B (Shaw) by fWAR. Currently in 2022 we have: Where are the upgrades coming from that will lead the top 5 players at their positions?
  20. So if the Dbacks didn't have a WP/PB in the 8th last night, the Brewers don't score and they fall short and are swept by the Dbacks. A gift gave them a chance, otherwise we'd be looking at a 4 game losing streak.
  21. Sure they can. Off the top of my head they must be averaging 5 solo HR a week so there you go.
  22. The Brewers are like the Make-A-Wish Foundation for opposing players.
  23. Brewers players and position rank based on WAR (blank is no qualifier): The issue isn't any 1 player (we do need a decent CF and C), the issue is that Adames is the best when the Brewers need 1 or 2 better. No, the infield is not the strength.
  24. Inherited runners scoring is definitely an underused stat that has some value. Nelson (ARI Pitcher) coughs up the lead last night by walking 3 batters and ends up with the win (because Davies gave up the initial hit). He was the worst of all the pitchers, but they scored 2 in the bottom half to take the lead. Another useless stats in many ways.
