  1. He'd just K faster. Unfortunately with the quality of umpires a player has to swing at anything within 6 inches of the strike zone.
  2. Having been stabbed in the back and the face, I prefer in the face.
  3. There was a clear situation where you hit Contreras.
  4. "Cain's a rookie, I got years of worst contracts to my name. mic drop. " - J.HEY
  5. And Jason Heyward steps up to leadoff the 5th with a wave out for one of the worst contracts for 2022.
  6. yes. the other team can always make an error. I'm not sure if a runner needs to be on.
  7. Cain should be given the bunt signal when he comes up to bat with a runner on.
  8. Alexander is looking better after he got over the first-inning-freddies.
  9. Yes. And we should keep in mind there haven't been a lot of GMs/heads of operations who have been able to succeed long-term with very restrictive budgets. Beene and Friedman (when with the Rays) are really the only 2 in the current baseball environment. Now add Stearns. I'm resigned to the fact we might not get lucky again when Stearns moves on (maybe Arnold has some of that magic).
  10. Actually we are closer to the 1/3rd mark than we are to the 1/4th mark and I believe the numbers for McCutcheon against RHP over the last few years has been well documented. I think the irritation that McCutcheon was getting so many starts against RHP, when it is clear his days of owning or even renting them is over, morphed into a general irritation with McCutcheon. It really isn't his fault that he's consistently been put in a position to fail, it's the manager's. And if they made a deal to play him 90% of the time he's available when they signed him then that's on management up and down. The most positive projection systems now have him at about 0.6 WAR for the season as he's at -0.6 NOW. I don't think the Brewers ever wanted to spend $8.5M for 0.6 WAR. That's just foolish for a small market team and not what they expected. He could make it to 1 WAR, but they need to stop rolling up the negative WAR by slotting him in against almost every frickin' RHP. And as I said above, CC hasn't played matchup with McCutchen (or Hiura or Taylor or Cain or Renfroe) yet, so why do you expect him to change?
  11. Give TT consistent playing time and this is the result. It took an injury to Renfroe to get him there and I wonder if CC has figured it out.
  12. I am shocked, shocked I tell you, that so many have a connection to the Brewers.
  13. WAR is a useful tool, but it sometimes isn't useful in a vacuum. Sure, Lorenzo Cain is a better option than 99.9% of the ushers at AmFam, but is he better than another option on the team? What's Cain's WAOO (or Wins Above Other Option) when that other option is Tyrone Taylor. We saw yesterday that Taylor is a very good defender (and metrics support that), and his offense has always played better than Cain's. So I don't really care that Cain is above a replacement player when he is far worse than another option on the Team. Does the small difference in their defensive results wipe out their massive difference in offense? And what was that look from CC after the review of the Taylor catch? On mlb.com he had this sour look on his face. C'mon man, your player just made a fantastic catch to end an inning and get your pitcher out of a jam, look like it. Or was he upset that TT keeps making his decision to trot the senior citizen Cain out game after game look so bad when there is clearly a better option already on the team?
  14. How bad does the rest of the lineup have to be before we need Cutch's bat? Cain level?
  15. You had me until the "huge success" sentence. No it isn't. Sure there's a lot of really poor hot takes about his performance, but there isn't anything about today's start that's a huge success. Sometimes it's best just to ignore the clearly deranged takes and move on, not double down with your own far out stretch.
  16. Wittgren should probably retire. Sure, Cain's a ML player so he always has the ability to hit a ball hard, but if you give up the first HR to him in the season he's having, you should just hang it up. I was just thinking what it would take to get Narvaez up in the 9th for a shot at the Cycle, but that means Yelich and Cutch have to not be black holes. Seems today anything can happen.
  17. If you get excited by an owner who makes a great return on his investment then you should be really excited.
  18. The only reason to bring Lindblom up is if the Brewers had multiple blowouts and were running thin on positional players who could pitch.
  19. Not sure where you are looking, but I am using mlb.com and the Padres are 7-5 vs teams over .500.
  20. What worries me is that we've only played 5 games against teams with a > 0.500 record (going 2-3), which is be far the lowest number in MLB. And the teams with equally good or better records are all doing much better than 2-3. I'll be more comfortable with where this team is going once they've played some good teams.
  21. To qualify for "pay to not play", you will need ticket receipts or proof of purchase to the games you wish to qualify for a payment plan to not attend games.
  22. I'm willing to chip in to pay you not to go to games.
