  1. Can you simplify this by taking out Garcia and Perez and whatever their value ads to the Orioles' contribution to the trade?
  2. You're right that this discussion seems circular and pointless. IMO, it's ludicrous to move one of your best players off his preferred position, which he plays well, for a prospect who is no guarantee to earn a full-time starting position in 2023. In a computer game, sure, move them around like they're not people, but they are people. In the real world, you don't jerk your best performers around. If Turang had 100+ ABs in the majors at the end of the year, and hit .270+, sure, then he's proven something. But he hasn't. Judging by past rookies, he has a good chance he won't be able to stick in the majors all year. And it won't hurt him (or the Brewers) to play multiple positions for a year or two.

  4. Diaz would be great, except he becomes a FA the same time Burnes/Woodruff do. Moving Adames off SS is ludicrous. He's a quality SS and he's only going to be around for 1-2 more years.

  6. Vargas would be a useful guy to have, but he's probably not sticking at 3B. He could be a corner INF/OF/DH for us.

  8. The only thing surprising about Travis Shaw is that he spontaneously forgot how to hit.

  10. Everyone is a trade candidate if you find a trading partner who values the player more than you do. My preference would be to ride out Woodruff and Burnes for at least one more season, extending either if you can for even one season of FA. But it's equally reasonable to trade Woodruff, Burnes, and Adames for (mostly) MLB-ready players with an eye on competing in 2024..

  12. When you say that, what I hear is: "Our top 8 prospects are too precious to trade." We have a 2 year window of Burnes and Woodruff; trading any of our prospects would be reasonable to take advantage of that window. OTOH, it's equally reasonable to trade B&W&Adames, and reload with MLB-ready players who can be part of a winning team by 2024.
  13. I hope they sign him, and the Brewers get some significant compensation. Any prospects that might be available?

  15. By any chance are you Garrett Mitchell, his agent, or among their friends and family? Your perception is outside the range of most objective people. We had a poster who was the father of one of our prospects. He was very nice until the prospect proved he was a AAAA guy by stinking it up in the majors and the father couldn't handle the criticism piled on his son. .
  16. The Angels do have a pretty weak system, so it is hard to get value from them. I did like getting O'Hoppe and Quero (we'd have an overabundance of quality catchers),
  17. In my "blueprint," I included a trade of Woodruff to the Angels for O'Hoppe, Quero (doubling down on catchers), and Silseth . In retrospect, I don't know if that's the best return for Woodruff. Using the baseball trade values site, we could get another good prospect in addition to your 3 guys, maybe Silseth.
  18. Vasquez doesn't deserve a pay raise. I wouldn't sign him for more than 2y@$5M dollars, and I think that's too much.
  19. I don't think "superstar" is his ceiling. His ceiling is hitting around .300, with ~20HR and ~35SB, with excellent fielding. That's very valuable, but not superstar. Plus he has injury concerns.
  20. Thanks, I didn't know (or remember) that.
  21. Reading through the hot takes in this thread rivals reading a game thread.
  22. Taylor will get a raise if he is brought back. The organization has shown pretty well that Hiura is not a long-term piece. They can't trade Brown yet. The haul for Murphy isn't enough (BTV site); I don't think he'll be worth what we have to give up for him and Quero might be ready in 2024. And the bullpen is weaker than last year.
  23. Chourio might be the most "sure thing" 18-year-old in a few years, but that's a low bar; no 18-y.o. is really a sure thing. Obviously speed wouldn't move him off CF, but his arm might move him to LF. Plus, I don't see him displacing Mitchell, if he's still playing CF for us at that time (though if those two guys plus Frelick are our OF, Mitchell might need to be the RF)..
  24. they got a guy who had one fewer save than Hader did at the time. And they acquired Bush to help the pen. If I was a brewer player, I'd wish Josh the best, and welcome Rogers and Bush, and hunger deeply to win the division and thrive in the postseason. But that's just me.
  25. sorry to put this here, but the "prospect update" thread is closed. I can't find a link to see the most-recent community prospect rankings.
