  1. Unless they have a chance to sign someone better at a reasonable cost, they should definitely keep Renfroe. He's got the highest OPS of qualified batters and he's not a complete hack in the outfield--he has 9 assists this year. McCutchen is the one that's going.
  2. Our only chance in the playoffs has ever been getting dominant starting pitching and having games closed out by the pen. That hasn't changed, and they still give us a chance.
  3. That would be aggressive for both players.
  4. He's probably not going to outhit any of our infielders going forward, so there isn't much opportunity for him to play. Let him play in AAA.
  5. We rightfully were considered the favorite to win the division. Injuries in the Brewers' rotation and over performance by some of STL players changed the dynamic. I still think we're the better team if Peralta comes back 100% and we fix the dumpster fire of the 5th starter.
  6. OPS was 11th out of 15 NL teams in 2021. Nearer the bottom than the top.
  7. It's baseball. The Brewers are 1-5 in their last two series against bad teams. The Cards are 6-0, playing a bad team and one of the best teams in baseball. Now, you could jump to the conclusion that this is a foreshadowing of what is to come, but the reality is that things could turn around quickly.
  8. $30M per year, for the rest of the contract.
  9. I still think the Brewers are the better team, if they get their starting pitching back in order. of course, the last 6 games that MKE and STL played suggest a different outcome.
  10. If you take out Yelich's two best years, Frelick could produce as well as a young Yelich. And he'd be a better defender.
  11. He made a ton of errors as an infielder. Very few as an OF. He's not a butcher, and he can recover with his speed, but he doesn't have the instincts of guys who came up playing CF.
  12. I really hope that the professional scouts that work for the team have a greatly different assessment than you do.
  13. Much of the pitching talent has been injured much of the season, hence the need for guys like Jason Alexander.
  14. We'd easily beat the '27 Yankees. they're all dead. Probably still give up a walk or two, though.
  15. I think you're going too far with this. Hiura should get more starts, but not be an everyday player. But what's unforgivable is pinch hitting for him against a RH pitcher when that has been the handedness he's been crushing, and after hitting a HR vs. a LH pitcher.
  16. McGee has decent stuff (at least mph), but his command has to be perfect for him to succeed.
  17. While I said Quintana and Montgomery would make StL better, I was argued down by a couple of people. Early returns suggest I was right.
  18. Bettinger hasn't been good since 2019. I had hoped he would bounce back this season, but he didn't.
  19. I wonder about the wording of the rule that a pitcher has to face X batters. Could Andrews pitch to someone, then go to the OF for one batter, then back to pitching?
  20. Wondering about Yelich. His injury was to his knee, so if that's the problem he wouldn't be able to run well, but he's 16-0 on stolen base opportunities. Which makes me think there is no structural problem anymore. So why is his hitting so strongly affected?
  21. The problem is McCutchen's platoon splits are negligible this year, largely because he isn't raking against LHP. So beyond a need to get him some days off, there's no need to sit him vs. RHP.
  22. If they waived Yelich, no one would claim in on waivers, but several might want to sign him after he clears. They'd only have to pay the league minimum. The Brewers would be paying the remainder of the $30M! So there is NO upside to waiving him. Other than giving an opportunity to our young OFs. We'd still be paying him. Yelich isn't worth $30M a year, but he is worth something. Whatever that value is, we'd be giving it away.
  23. And you wonder why people call you a "Negative Nancy." ?
  24. I guess there are still ways to acquire a player. 1) Someone waived by another team. 2) Someone in the minors and not on the 40-man roster. 3) Someone playing in a foreign country. Any options?
