  1. Only works if the scorpion is radioactive. Maybe Saito can bring one back from Japan.
  2. Figures the stupid Bucks would go into overtime. Even so, FSN could switch over if they ditched the post game crud.
  3. Brewers forgot they were supposed to make Suppan look good so the Giants would keep him.
  4. I expect they will back off a little come the regular season. Right now they need to get their work in by getting in as many attempts as possible. The coaches also need to know which players are best at being aggressive in taking an extra base, and now is the time to find out.
  5. Looking like the reverse of yesterday, with Brewer pitchers giving up 4 HR and 7 runs in 4+ innings.
  6. Wish they could bottle up some of these runs for the opening series against the Reds.
  7. Anyone happen to know if this game will be replayed tonight on FSN?
  8. Well Randy, this is the time to get all your clunkers out of the way.
  9. He had a walk yesterday. He needs to have the right approach every time, which in general means that if the first pitch is something he can drive, go for it. If not, wait to see if he gets one. Also do you know they were first pitch hits from listening, or are you going by gameday which is not all that accurate in spring games?
  10. I have the game in Madison. What station? It's not on 1070, or 1310. I can't get 620 where I am.
  11. Why won't the affiliates pick up the game? Better than anything else they have during the afternoon.
  12. Well if they preview them quickly, they could show close plays where the umpire got the call right. That would be better for fans and the umps.
  13. Perhaps he felt that this situation was one where it was in his best interest to settle quickly for a fair amount to eliminate any distraction, and to have Prince poised for a monster contract year.
  14. Some off the beaten path reasons for the Brewers winning it all: 1) Narveson will pitch like the last half of '10 for the year, making him one of the better #4 pitchers in the league. 2) Betancourt will be excited by the situation, report in shape and field at a passable level (like he did early in his career), and provide better offense than Escobar. 3) Ron Roenicke's commitment to running and aggressive play (not small ball) makes opposing pitchers nervous, and stabilizes the offense to one that consistently produces runs instead of 20 one day and 0 the next. 4) Carlos Gomez will bat 8th, learn to walk in front of the pitcher, steal second and score when our good hitting pitchers come through time and time again.
  15. The Cubs fully deserve the top spot, but the O's should be higher. The misery outlook is the same for the Brewers and the O's. How's that possible. The Brewers have a really good shot at the playoffs this year, but do the O's have a chance at all in the foreseeable future?
  16. Oh well, no sandwich pick. Interesting that he will not sign for a day to 'Retire as a Padre'.
  17. Lets see. Huge improvement on starting pitching, with only Wolf regressing a bit, but Naverson much closer to his second half than his first. Improvements from Prince and Braun and maybe Lucroy. Some regression from Hart, and weaker defense at short. Also the Brewers will not blow 7 saves in the first 2 months. Taken all together that puts it at around 93 wins.
  18. How long before Cruz is ready to take over as starting SS?
  19. They did stick with Hoffman too long, but I also remember an early switch to Hawkins, and watching him blow a save as well. Hoffman and Hawkins blew 7 saves early in the season, and I think the Brewers lost them all (someone can correct me here). Even winning 5 of them would have made a significant difference in the standings and the feel of the season early. Just 5 more wins in the season would have given them a winning record, plus some possible excitement in August or beyond. It's possible to find a good closer anywhere, but not everyone is going to pan out. How many losses are you willing to take before you find the right guy.
  20. If they trade Axford, they could always re-sign Hoffman. The problem with thinking closers are easy to come by is that not having a reliable one can knock a team out of contention early, like what happened last year.
  21. Abbot and Costello's tribute to Bob Feller
  22. I'd like to see them sign John Maine to an NRI (with a June 1st out clause) to see if he's recovered from injuries. He's only 29 and was good before the injuries (shoulder spur, and scarring) hit.
  23. Steinbrenner should not even be considered this year. He just died, which tends to cloud peoples' judgment. Wait a few years so that his whole record can be judged fairly, including his banning and all the damage he has done to baseball.
