  1. Chris Sale, Adbert Alzolay. I'm sure there are others, but I can't find them with a quick search. My mind linked the two right away, but didn't save the sources.
  2. As long as Cortes is healthy and that flexor strain doesn't come back and turn into TJ surgery by May, this is a good trade for the Brewers. I am concerned that it will, as these injuries can look better after rest and then come back with a vengeance when pitching resumes.
  3. Was Frelik's bat good enough to win the golden glove? As for Yelich, maybe the reluctance to move him to first is because the movements he'd need to make there would put his back at additional injury risk.
  4. Love hearing Uke say 'Hee struck him out!'
  5. Nice between starts bullpen session by Freddie.
  6. Looking at bWAR, he's in the top 1 to wear 19 for the majority of his career in all of baseball history.
  7. But they are still I contention for worst 162-game season.
  8. I was just noting the general annoyance of the Cockroaches to always come back late in the season. Every time you think they are dead and dusted, they go on a 12-2 run and are right back in it. If the Brewers have >90 wins and take the division, Murphy should get Manager of the Year. The number of injuries to the staff, particularly the starters is ridiculous.
  9. Sure, it's nice to see the Cubs fade, especially after they stole CC from us. It's a long season and I still think CC is good at squeezing wins out of a roster, but managers are more or less bystanders when players are in a slump. The thing that really annoys me is the St. Louis Cockroaches are in second. (I call them the Cockroaches because they are near impossible to get rid of).
  10. I love listening to Uke call the games, but the man is 90. Not a whole lot of the people who make it to 90 are still working. I'll enjoy whatever he's able to give us this year.
  11. Given that betting on baseball is the one unforgivable sin in baseball, I expect that MLB will take a very close and fair look at this. The only way Ohtani should be fully cleared is if he really did know nothing about his interpreter and close friend gambling. It might be a little gray as isn't Ohtani gambling, but If they find something along the lines of the interpreter telling Ohtani something like I've got 10K riding on you this game, there should be mulit-year suspension if not a lifetime ban. If Ohtani said he'd cover him if they lost, then it should be a lifetime ban, no question.
  12. The parking change sounds like a huge improvement. Last year you could get to within site of the stadium an hour before the game and not make it in until the 3rd inning due to the traffic jams.
  13. He's pointing out the error in the article that says the 1919 White Sox won the series.
  14. 20 game winners are so rare these days that the last time there were 4 of them in the same season in all of MLB was 2012.
  15. He's worth 7M easily. See if he'll go for 5/35. CC gets to reset the market an have a long contract, and the Brewers get stability, plus in 5 years the contract may not seem so large.
  16. Just tell them he was taken in a spaceship along with Elvis. Maybe then they will go away.
  17. 4 grand slams and the Marlins are right in this game.
  18. A 17yo with a fastball that sits 92-96 and touches 98 only gets a 55 grade? I must be getting old. He already looks like he has decent control of that wicked curve. I just hope his arm stays healthy. He looks like a good one.
  19. Ahead of his 6 to 8 week timeline... so that means 10 or 12 weeks.
  20. I really like the influx of speed in this team. The bigger bases, no radical shifting and limited throws to first really make fast players more valuable on offense. Plus the no shift rules make having players with good range more important on defense. The front office was really ready for the changes.
  21. The extreme positional adjustment is what makes their defensive WAR calculations dubious at best. If anything, it should be a multiplying factor, not an addition/subtraction so that bad defense at premium positions is not treated as a positive, and great defense at a less valuable position is still seen as a positive. Also for first base, do the calculations take in to account the throwing errors saved from other infield positions? Cooper was an absolute master at that.
  22. This is why I don't trust dWAR at all. Baseball-reference has him listed at -1.1 on a year he won the golden glove. He was good defensively, and outstanding at the most critical skill for a first baseman - catching the ball thrown by infielders. Not only could he stretch to the point of doing the splits to catch it that much sooner to beat the runner, but balls in the dirt rarely got by him. Replace him with an average 1B in 82 and Yount probably has a dozen more errors and doesn't win his GG. If you want to say that Prince was better overall because his OBP and slugging were better enough to make up for his defensive limitations, that's a fair argument. But there is no comparison between the two defensively. I'll put Cooper at the top of my list because of the total package. And you can't beat 10's of thousands of people screaming COOOOOOOOOOOP when he came to the plate.
  23. I wonder if they got Norris to use in modified loogy situations, like a lefty up with two outs, when they don't want to burn Suter.
  24. If you are trying to win a championship, go for the All-Star.
  25. And without Yelich, the Brewers might be closer to Miami's 4-14 record instead of 12-7
