  1. I assume so. If the Brewers claimed him I assume they need to add him to the 25-man. If they want him off the 25-man then they would need to try to slip him through waivers and outright him. However, he's already refused an outright so I assume he would do so again. Bottom line, yeah, he's just insurance for now and will likely be DFA'd in a matter of days. With the way COVID is running through the Brewers, he'll stick around until he gets it.
  2. Well, if he didn't get the shot he could be out for far more than the mandatory 10 days. If he's out for a month or two and doesn't have the stamina to pitch well down the stretch, it might sink the brewers chances.
  3. I wonder if they got Norris to use in modified loogy situations, like a lefty up with two outs, when they don't want to burn Suter.
  4. Let's see if LaRussa can be thrown out of this game as well. It always improves the game.
  5. Brewers shouldn't go to the All-Star game. They are 13-38-1 in those games.
  6. I missed the comment, but these announcers are meh, and the sound quality seems off, like their microphones are run cans with strings.
  7. I wasn't super big on the robot zone, but the umps yesterday and today are making a good case for them.
  8. I hardly think Sheets was the first to use the high 4-seemer to get k's. The expression 'climbing the ladder' has been around for a long time. He threw a good bit harder than average back then, and combined with the much slower 12-6 hammer made Sheets special.
  9. Pitching has improved, but defensive shifts have also forced batters to change their approaches, as well as analytics favoring a 3TO approach.
  10. this On raw stats, maybe. However with options available, these two will be part of the Nashville shuttle, keeping fresh arms available for the Brewers, giving them effectively a larger staff. As long as they can hold their own in low to medium leverage situations, the top guys can be saved for the high leverage situations. At the time Arcia was tendered, Shaw and Robertson were not on the roster. The Brewers needed someone viable at the time. After the others were on the team, Arcia was less important and was traded.
  11. Wouldn't it be $42 higher to make up for it? They gave a bit of a refund for there not being as much live sports last year. The reason was in the bill. It will be back to it's normal exorbitant levels next month.
  12. 2013 saw Alex Gonzalez, Yuni B and Jaun Francisco man first base. What a horrible year for that position. I hope to never see something that bad again.
  13. The best revenge is winning. I hope the Brewers take plenty of revenge on the Dodgers, especially in the playoffs.
  14. It really depends on what shortcomings they have. Limited range or a weak arm are much less costly at first. Trouble fielding ground balls is usually more costly at second, unless your name is Bill Buckner. Trouble catching balls thrown, especially when they are low or wide is not good at second, but a disaster at first (see Francisco, Jaun). Huira's range and arm can be hidden easily at first, especially with somebody as good as Wong at second. The question is can he handle the throws he needs to catch at first, and nobody really knows that.
  15. BF.net - The Brewers defense up the middle is terrible. Huira is an absolute butcher at second. Brewers - Sign reigning gold glove second baseman. BF.net - Why did they do this? Huira's bat has such plus potential at second. I'm good with acquiring Wong, but Huira at first has me more that a bit worried. I have visions of him becoming Jaun Francisco 2.0. If there is a DH this year, I could see Huira as DH and Nottingham as 1b.
  16. Yep. More than enough people will either support the athletes or just not care to make up for the few who will have a fit and won't attend. As soon as people feel safe they will attend. Honestly given Sturgis, people would attend even if it's not safe if they were allowed to. There is a pent up demand for attending games and returning to normal.
  17. Brewers 37-23 Reds 32-28 Cards 30-30 Cubs 28-32 Pirates 22-38 Kool-aid perhaps, but teams get extra players for a significant portion of the season, and nobody manages with extra players as well as CC.
  18. Don't they have a per diem during spring training? They could just extend that (and increase if need be) until the actual opening day, even if players have gone home.
  19. Looking at a smattering of elite players, there's a good chance Yelich puts up excellent to elite level of production for 6 seasons and the final 3 at average to a bit above average offensive production. It should be worth it for the Brewers, and hopefully send a message to the team that they are serious about contending.
  20. Doesn't sound serious. I hope not, but 'thumb tightness' sounds an awful lot like forearm tightness, and that often ends badly.
  21. Well from a MLB perspective, they get to stretch the excitement of opening day over two days. Also, even though a normal rain wouldn't prevent a game, there is always the possibility of flooding rains cancelling the game, or even large piles of white s*** (self filtering because in my book it is a worse four letter word than the actual one that gets filtered, especially in April).
  22. They announced that Suter was going to be in the pen, so no speculation that he would be a starter. There was some concern about his stuff playing through enough batters as a starter. Also he had TJ, and he pitches with very little time between pitches. There's been research that shows recovery time between pitches is a factor in needing TJ surgery. It wouldn't be a stretch to think that the pen would be a better place for him to be able to manage stress on his arm. Also going from starter to Suter to Hader might be a bit demoralizing on batters
  23. This article takes a fairly balanced look at the staff: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/MlbTradeRumors/~3/mSZVBbuhZOQ/brewers-rotation-battle-freddy-peralta-eric-lauer-corbin-burnes.html If the slider Peralta has shown in winter ball plays at the MLB level, he should win the 5th spot, and Carlos Villanueva should get a raise. The bottom line is that the way the Brewers use their starters, as long as none of them are a dumpster fire, they should be right in the mix at the end. They have enough options so CC ought to be able to cobble together a workable staff.
  24. Not nuts, just a big swig of Brewer blue kool-aid. But this is the time of year for that. Spring hopes attorney.
  25. As much as I want to see the Astros punished more, I wouldn't side with him if I were on the jury. He wasn't a good pitcher that year, even if you exclude the games against the Astros. His claim that he was one of the best pitchers in Japan seems dubious as well. That game may have been the final nail in his coffin, but he was already in the coffin with many nails in it.
