  1. If that's how you interpreted that I can't do anything about it. Again, nothing to do with Tellez.
  2. The strange thing is, I think we agree with each other. There's nothing "simple" about hitting a single. If it was, this would BE like slowpitch softball. "HIT A SINGLE!!!!! IT"S SIMPLE!!!!! No, it isn't. That's what was being ridiculed.
  3. I haven't seen a ton of Blacks' work defensively but from what I've learned I'm a little skeptical too. Too early to say but it wouldn't shock me if he gets tried at 1B at some point.
  4. That was a ridicule of the "simple single" phrase, how it reminded me of slowpitch softball. It had nothing to do with defending Tellez.
  5. I re-read my post, trying to find an insinuation that Tellez is "the answer". Couldn't find anything.
  6. On paper he could be the frontrunner assuming Allen goes from pro-am (college) to pro. Nate White will have a leg up on him joining the program this season, but from what I ascertain Dupree is a more physical runner & certainly was challenged by playing at a higher level in HS. I guess we'll see evidence of White's readiness by whether he gets snaps as the 3rd TB this season or if he's behind someone like Grover Bortolotti or Cade Yacamelli. Then there's always the magic portal if there's immediate team success in '23 joined by the corresponding media attention + top two TB's leaving.
  7. They tried. Davis didn't know how to react, so he talked to Wilmer Flores who told him to start bawling.
  8. That Shaw team had a lot of confidence in the "out-getter" philosophy, fueled by shift strategy & being able to matchup by using 37 pitchers per game (or so it seemed lol). I think they were so pumped at the idea of adding Moustakas they felt they could hide Shaw at 2B & actually did a pretty good job of it. I agree, it's way too far-fetched to move Yelich now. Maybe he'll fill the spot down the road. If Jef Quero works out maybe even Contreras gets a look there someday (although Yelich is a better option IMO). Black winding up at 1B wouldn't surprise me. I believe you're correct that he hasn't played there this season. It was reported that Jahmai Jones worked out at 1B before Thursdays' game.
  9. My favorite was "simple single"😄. Reminds me of the beer keg at 2nd base, potato salad in the dugout, and the unlimited arc. Drafting too many middle INF is a valid criticism, but at this point needs to play itself out before it can be deemed as some sort of crippler to future seasons. Tellez being what he is in 2023 certainly has hurt. They DID draft corner guys (Alex Binelas & Xavier Warren) rather high in recent seasons. One was dealt for a decent season from Hunter Renfroe. The other looks like a miss so far.
  10. Joey has had a defensive miscue or two that he hadn't been committing earlier. That combined with the recent ABs may make it time to do this.
  11. Not as intriguing, but Justin Wilson has started his rehab & I assume will be in Biloxi or N'ville before long. I would like to see them roll with what they have in the system bullpen-wise, but it's hard to imagine them NOT picking up some arm from somewhere.
  12. Hopefully we never find out & our catchers stay healthy, but I've wondered who would get the call if we needed someone for a couple weeks. Henry is hitting the ball but might be behind the other two defensively. Quero has some kinda skills behind the plate, and is inching closer every day to being a .300 hitter. In my book he's every bit as untouchable as Chourio. I have good feelings about Wood.
  13. Since he's off-hand from most of the starters, I agree Pannone seemed like a decent long man candidate. I expected him to stick around at least until/if Justin Wilson makes it to Milwaukee. Hard to say what their plans are for Gasser, except that if everyone in the rotation stays healthy and effective I don't think his arrival is imminent. Maybe if the clock strikes twelve for Teheran?
  14. Looks more & more like the trade was a win. I didn't know (or forgot) that Payamps has 3 yrs of control. That tilts the scales even more. After they acquired Ruiz last season & he proceeded to do impressive things in N'ville it was obvious one of the 4 young OFs was going to be dealt. Mitchell may have ongoing health issues & really needs to clean up the Ks, but for now I couldn't be happier with that 3-corner trade. A+. I think the bullpen fatigue issues would still be here had we never made the deal. I don't like the 6-man rotation because with the constant 5-6 inning starts it hurts to be one guy short in the pen. But if it leads to a little more fresher/effective starts in the dog days so be it.
  15. If I understand the way Tressel likes to defend, I wouldn't be surprised if Wohler spends some time as sort of a LB-S hybrid. I've always liked him.
  16. Latest commit ('24)--CB Omillio Agard from Pennsylvania. A smallish corner, but a consensus 4-star. With Tressels' defensive schemes they need a lot of DB & safety depth. They seem to be attracting it.
  17. Long-term solution, quite possibly. But yeah, not in '23.
  18. You're most likely correct about their post-season chances. But as long as they're in the hunt for the division---no matter how weak the division is---I don't ever see them selling based on "We won't be able to make a playoff run anyway". This may result in a "soft buy" mode, where you do something that could be a slight upgrade w/o losing any of your top 6-7 prospects. And if that's the case I think they're better off rolling the dice with Frelick-Hiura.
  19. Wilson has done a nice job filling his role, for sure. I see more than enough room for both of them as relievers, especially when you see Counsell regularly ask the pen to cover 3-4 innings; sometimes more. I think Houser can be used in situations other than when the team is trailing if need be. Maybe this can even lessen the need to add a BP arm or two every trade deadline.
  20. Agree with this. It's actually nice to have someone in the BP who can pitch effectively AND can be used for more than one inning. In the meantime I'd stick with Rea, while keeping an eye on Gassers' work (he definitely is trending upward) & Woodruffs' progress. And golly gee, Jason Alexander is making his way back, too!!!!
  21. I wouldn't mind seeing Justin Jarvis get his feet wet in AAA, but it would leave a hole in the Biloxi staff as I'm not sure who from Wisconsin could fill his spot in a corresponding move. Maybe Tyler Woessner or Max Lazar?
  22. Strange, because there was only one other TE in the incoming class (Tucker Ashcraft) and Booker committed weeks after Ashcraft anyway. Grant Stec is a '24 recruit & a good one, but Booker committed after Stec announced, too. It could be an NIL thing, but UCLA (his rumored destination) never seemed to be pushing hard for him that I know of. I heard something second-hand that his folks are Badger fans & pushed him into a decision he didn't want to make. That would be my guess.
  23. Maybe Teheran wasn't quite as sharp as in his other starts, but that was an extremely tight zone & an opponent that doesn't chase a whole lot. Tough combination. Under those circumstances 5 shutout innings was very impressive. It's not a good sign for the Brewers when the zone is that small, because it takes a certain type of offensive approach to take advantage & we ain't it.
  24. My sister is looking for an apartment & had a showing scheduled for Monday, They notified us it has to be re-scheduled because of Juneteenth. THAT was surprising.
  25. Sort of ironic Robinson & Floyd are involved in moves at the same time. I had hopes for both & thought it might mitigate our need to acquire BP arms every deadline. Of course, if Uribe shines in AAA............
