  1. Could be wrong, but I think Reynolds gets played in the gap a little on the pull side. Gamels' play yeah, when you go through a stretch like this he'd probably be able to stick his glove on his right foot & still catch it. Bad luck & bad baseball. Just have to fight through it.
  2. Possible, but I don't know if they come off the deck like they did last nite if there's issues like that. One thing I'd like to see/hear, is a defined plan from CC as to what everyones' role in the pen is. Today only seemed to muddy the answer to that up more.
  3. Not an apologist, but you look at Reynolds' double in the tenth, and compare it to the ball Renfroe hit................. Still, we hear about our ace-quality top of the rotation, and it's been four games in a row now where we get just murdered by a seemingly inconsequential walk, with virtually nothing going on for the opponent. Today it led off the seventh, up by two runs, to a guy coming in hitting .111. And it was Brandon Woodruff doing the walking. Hard to dump on a guy who's been so good, but if we're built on run prevention, that can't happen.
  4. Hopefully that gets asked in postgame. He had better not have been available or there's gonna be some fur flyin'.
  5. Don't know Reynolds' splits, but With Gamel following it's curious.
  6. I don't think there's been a season I've watched where you don't have this, a stretch where you're not good when you need to be, and when you are you can't catch a break to save your life. I'm looking forward to seeing how we respond to the last several days.
  7. Fair, but I was OK with it. Wong's "effort" to sac earlier though was horrible though. Square around, you're not looking to bunt for a hit there.
  8. It's just curious when a supposed Brewer fan doesn't ever seem to find anything positive to say, and is notorious for showing up in certain times moreso than others.
  9. Nothing. But when things aren't going well, certain personalities seem to love to smell blood in the water.
  10. He complained after his teammate didn't get the call on what was basically the same pitch, not after he struck out. His "more passive approach" is what's made him an effective leadoff hitter. But not today. Recency bias.
  11. In other breaking news........sun rises in the east this morning.
  12. Oh, and someone please explain to Kolton Wong the difference btwn sacrificing & bunting for a base hit. Pathetic.
  13. FOURTH GAME IN A ROW. Nothing going on for the opponent, have the lead. And a walk. Leading off the inning. On four straight. Yeah, might've been screwed on ball 3. But that's no excuse.
  14. I'm a big Urias fan after his performance last season & still waiting on him to get things together. But he struggled again last night w/RISP, and if Brosseau can look good today vs the RHP I wonder if he might crack the door open for himself a bit.
  15. I forgot Cain was on that team too. Dang, you have a good point. It's about projection, and I think about that with the current group and smile, but those guys ( a lot of them anyway) already proved it.
  16. And it's most ill-fitted in baseball, I think. You have almost twice the teams as you had in the late 50s, so there's no way you can go back to that system. But twelve is too many. I wouldn't want to live without TV & money, but this is proof that those things are a mixed blessing.
  17. I remember those Huntsville teams with Brantley, Gamel, Salome, Escobar etc. I've only seen this current crop on video, but they have to get the clear edge. The athleticism, even from someone the size of Wiemer, is incredible. Just thinking out loud, but I wonder if Lutz is capable of playing 1B?
  18. McGee was lousy, had a few good outings here, then tonite. You may be right. I just find it hard to see Suter go while Counsell is manager. But we got down to 2 catchers, so anything is possible.?
  19. Yesterday. Bush has been solid all season. And Rogers. I get the frustration though.
  20. If that's an issue, yes. I was wondering the same thing. But does a team suffering from that sort of stuff come off the deck the way they did in the 8th? I dunno.
  21. Yep. And like I said, all three opp. rallies start with walks--walks in low-pressure situations. There's no reason not to expect this pen to be good more often than not. But Ashby, Burnes(???) and tonite Peralta just started a fire where there was none. It's supposed to be the strength, that's what hurts.
  22. That's why Reynolds is so damn good. Perfectly placed hit-and-run, then the next AB hits an absolute howitzer.
  23. Let's check on the next 50-some games, shall we? We had two pitchers tonight who gave up runs for the first time in weeks. WEEKS. Obviously, the run prevention unit isn't preventing runs, and that includes the defense. For the last three games, we've walked a hitter when leading & the opposition had absolutely nothing going on, no momentum. Each time it led to a turnaround. I know it sounds like an oversimplification, but they're playing like crap & need to play better--like they've done for stretches this season. Consistency has to be there preventing runs, because the offense disappears for innings at a time, we've all seen it. It sounds like CC isn't giving anyone in the pen a defined role right now, I think that needs to change.
