  1. All their moves today could work out to greatly strengthen the BP, and I haven't been down on the offense to the extent some on here have been, but did anyone think they would go through this picking up six players, and five being pitchers? Of course, there's still 15 min.
  2. Yeah, after Bell was included this morning in the Soto deal, Drury was a hope of mine as well.
  3. There is no scenario, apparently, where we feel we have enough BP arms.
  4. Dealing Cooper for Webb really ticked me off at the time. The deal with Texas was a little weird because it was one of Melvins' "help us now & later" deals. But it was in the era where you would overpay for closers compared to now. Gave up too much in retrospect but as Brewin pointed out, no one saw Cruz coming on the way he did. Would like to have gotten more for Davis, but the guy was such a detriment with the glove/arm & we had no DH in the league at the time. I remember during the Sabathia rumors, I was OK with LaPorta going but hoped we could somehow spin the deal w/o including Brantley. Still would've made the deal, but you just knew Brantley was head & shoulders above.
  5. I remember as a kid trying to peel the "Bryant" sticker off the batting helmet on the helmet day giveaway. So, no.
  6. I think Hader is more likely to outperform Rogers in the next two months. But maybe the more pertinent question would be how will Devin Williams performance measure up to what you would get from Hader if he was still here, and how will Rogers, Bush, &/or Boxberger measure up compared to Williams' former role (this is assuming Devin takes over as closer). At the end of the day they have more pen depth, and we all know how much the Brewers value that. But to answer the question I'd go about 20%.
  7. Since all he wore for a disguise was a bad suit & eyeglasses, were the citizens of Metropolis total morons?
  8. Davis OBP is .365, admittedly in limited PAs. Not saying he's the answer or a savior or anything, but he's done quite a bit better than many on here thought he would, myself included. Think he deserves props for that. For me, Gallo would have to come very, very cheaply--and from what I'm hearing, the Yanks won't go that low.
  9. I'm surprised more people haven't brought up Drury as a Brewer target. Would be a little cheaper than Bell, I would think?
  10. I like all of this, except I think Narvaez could still be dealt, possibly to someone who is willing to part with a prospect piece that would then be used as part of a deal for Bell (or whatever bat they may be targeting).
  11. Yep, we cleared that up. If one goes, IMO it would be Omar.
  12. Gotcha. Makes sense for Narvaez, but you have the bugaboo of Severino being done after 162.
  13. The A's or Cubs are both playing out the string, and would be trading for a guy who would be leaving in 2 months & Severino. I'm sure they could do much better.
  14. Thinking of Yelich in CF with his arm, I have visions of Willie McGee in game 3 of the '82 series, tagging up from 2B on a fly to CF and scoring.
  15. Thinking of Yelich in CF with his arm, I have visions of Willie McGee in game 3 of the '82 series, tagging up from 2B on a fly to CF and scoring.
  16. When you put it that way..........?
  17. To those who question how it makes them better right now, I think the mindset is that, if Rogers pitches to his capability, it doesn't make them any WORSE, plus you've added two prospects, one of whom we may see this year, plus Lamet. Is there any official announcement re the Mitchell, Frelick, Wiemer to Nashville rumor? I like all three, but Ruiz being added makes one or two of them being packaged more likely. In a playoff scenario, are we comfortable with Alex Jackson & Caratini as our catchers if Narvaez gets dealt? Don't think they trust Felicianos' defense yet.
  18. I enjoyed it. Especially liked (playfully) calling out Counsell. "It wasn't 'change our approach''". Yeah, OK Craig.
  19. Theoretically, it should. That's what I like about him. He's the #28 prospect in the SD organization. Unless they have the greatest farm system anyone has seen in decades I think that's a huge miscalculation.
  20. If you're referring to Ruiz, he's split the season btwn AA & AAA, and had a cup of coffee with SD.
  21. I like Ruiz, I think he's underrated. Gasser seems like someone with a ton of potential. Lamet, eh. The only way this seems to offer immediate help is if Ruiz makes an impact in CF. I don't think they're done; picking up a young OFer makes it a little more comfy to deal one (or more) of the Biloxi guys.
  22. The only thing IMO that makes this even remotely possible is that they have Williams. Like Brewcrewdue80 mentioned, I think they would want someone back who would give them quality in the 7th-8th innings. That, and a difference making bat. Agree with RRbeard, this is much more likely to happen in the off-season.
  23. Does that "measurable" take into account what would've happened had the ball been put into play in 75 of those 100 ABs? in half? in 20? This runs into something I've felt strongly about for a long time--that baseball can't be put into a neat little analytical box nearly as easily as other sports, hard as some may try. IMO the variables are insurmountable. But at the end of the day, Keston seems like a great kid, who has had way too much to endure at his age. Like I said, I agree with this organizations' assessment of him, but I'm glad he has people who have his back. If the unlikely happens & he finds his way back to Milwaukee I'll be pulling for him.
