  1. Some of the talk on here is centered around comfort level at a particular position, and there's merit to that. In that vein, I think moving a platinum-glove 2B who's hitting around .340-.350 to SS, even if he's played there before, is not a good idea. I know they considered it in March, but hopefully the bit of discomfort he felt put the permanent brakes on that.
  2. Cameron is out of options, which means he'd be exposed if he's the guy to go when Perkins returns. Otherwise yeah, I'd have made that move yesterday. Unless they'd consider Mitchell doing a reset at AAA.
  3. Yeah, it looked all along like Collins would be in Milwaukee until Perkins is ready, but no one---including the organizational braintrust, I'm sure---foresaw what Cameron is doing since joining Nashville. Wondering what his status is AFA options remaining?
  4. Sure. If he displays the same movement & command he's shown earlier he can be effective vs anyone. I just think there are many LHH we're going to be seeing that you WANT to make face a guy who throws from the same side, and with the heavy BP usage we've seen I just don't know if Alexander is someone who can be used 2-3 times a week (not that they'd even want him in such a role). But you're right about Hudson. He isn't commanding his stuff and he needs to, probably more than most since his FB is around 90 or so. Ashby being out really hamstrings them in that sense.
  5. That makes the most sense IMO.
  6. If Hudson is sent down, I'm not nuts about the idea of Alexander being the only LHP in the pen besides Koenig. Part of me wonders if there is a deal being hammered out for Payamps involving a combo of lotto tickets, and if not then a phantom IL stint. The risk in a DFA or trade is that he's been very, very good when 'right', including last season after an early rough stretch. And being out of options.......I just don't see a DFA quite yet. Could be wrong, but I think Henderson stays. As long as people keep performing as starters I could see a six-man when Myers returns.
  7. Considering he high BP usage I don't see them going with only Koenig from the left side. Not to defend Hudson, but I don't know if he goes anywhere as long as Ashby is out (early May?) unless they want to add someone like Jay. You may be right re Anderson. Hope you aren't.
  8. I'm not usually a big "feel" guy regarding who I think is going to win a close game. But I really thought we were done tonight after Turang singled in the 6th. One out, tying run on, good speed, Chourio & Yelich coming up. Two pitches later, inning over. And neither ball hit hard. That was a sad sequence. Gotta hand it to Patrick though. And Anderson continues to impress.
  9. The way I look at it, this is the first time in 18 months that he's started, went through his routine, and then went out & started again. This will probably take longer than any of us would like & hopefully the end result will be worth it.
  10. When leading, I think Capra as a defensive replacement is going to be a regular thing. Outside of a hiccup or two, the defense at 3B has been very solid, so this is a roll of the dice in that regard. I guess you can say that they're going from a R/L platoon to an offense/defense one. I'm just glad that as this whole thing unfolded going back to March, they never implemented the idea of Turang moving to SS.
  11. Priester, Patrick, Alexander (sans Monday), Quintana........... Gold star to Chris Hook & this front office in light of all the health issues to starters. And guard the key to that pitching lab.
  12. Both followed close behind by the Bill Schroeders' "Not even close".
  13. Not the greatest of track records when facing a relative unknown. But if he's really only 145, I think a strong dose of off-tackle runs should wear him down.
  14. And not quite yet eighteen. Gracious.
  15. It's tricky to get info on injured minor leaguers, which is frustrating. Would love to hear something on Quero as well.
  16. As a collective, I thought I'd never see a Brewers' minor league affiliate excite me as much as the '08 Huntsville team w/Brantley, Gamel, LaPorta, Salome, Escobar & Cole Gillespie. Think again, ace.
  17. I believe this is pretty close to what they're thinking. Bauers & Martinez are the LHHs in the equation so that sucks for Bauers, who has performed decently in his limited time. IMO they'd like to see Martinez build a little more toward the nice start he's had rather than yank him up here quickly. I'm thinking Hoskins is given until June at the earliest.
  18. Amos has decided to transfer to Loyola (CHI). IMO a good fit for his skillset & where he's at right now development-wise. VS most of the bigs in The Valley he'll be able to stay on the floor physically & get enough minutes to score 12-15 PPG. Then he can go to DePaul in 26-27. Or if he disappoints he can try Chicago State, IPFW or SIU-Edwardsville. The beat goes on..........
  19. Agree it's certainly not everything, esp in his case. And IMO he's one of the last guys you want to see consciously trying to pull anyway. It'll be tough if he struggles enough to warrant the platoon b/c the options aren't really there as you said. Even when Perkins returns you already have two other lefty OF bats that you'd much rather see facing a righty. If Hoskins doesn't provide the RH pop at some point it really hamstrings them.
  20. Cuz of the way they lost Saturday. Big pic, a 3-3 roadie is only a catastrophe if you let it morph into one.
  21. Too early to draw conclusions, but a mostly ugly first one-tenth of the season for him. Right now he could change his uni # to 43 to match the lions' share of his scorebook results. When he started to heat up last year he was Turanging a lot of balls to LF, which led to him getting some balls to pull. I think that's the ticket.
  22. This wasn't a day to go dormant offensively, but it also wasn't a day for Peralta to be hanging on by a thread before he even got out of the 5th. Needed the type of length he usually doesn't give us, but has a time or two in '25. And to their credit Zonas' hitters did nothing to help him. Not that Gallen needed it, but our hitters can't say the same. Probably didn't cost them today, but there are going to be soooo many games where the BP has to get about half of the outs, that it's going to catch up to us if we don't have a 3rd LHP out there. Missing an Ashby or a Milner isn't huge yet, but will be if not rectified. He's a major talent & I'm glad he's on our side for a long time, But the plate discipline thing with Chourio really gets magnified when others behind him aren't producing. That's a jump in baseball smarts & moxie that will propel him to another level and I hope it starts to show soon. Not so much the final out---Puk worked him well---but his AB in the 7th was horrible. Arizona goes to a couple bench guys on a Sunday, and they throw Wauwatosa (or whatever his name is) out there at 2B and he plays a nearly flawless game on both ends. Typical.
  23. I agree. The % of managers that would sit a closer down after the fourth run was scored is probably pretty high. Throw in that Megill (according to Murphy) has a little something w/his knee going on, just a little discomfort. For all the fireworks in the ninth, what lit the fuse was the one-out walk for no particular reason (along with the one Megill allowed to the 9-hole hitter). Make either of those two batters hit their way on & chances are we win. Murphy said in postgame it was a confidence issue w/Payamps. If that's the reason for a one out, no one on base walk w/a four-run lead----after getting ahead 0-1----, that's pretty inexcusable. So. win the series & complete a successful roadie today.
  24. Or..........Jace Petersen IS in the organization.............😄
  25. As long as he would come cheaply, I like this. I was disappointed when he was dealt. But unless they've 100% given up on him as a 3B Durbin needs to play there every day at N'ville. And that's where a Devanney would go if acquired. In the meantime let's not forget the emphasis the organization has put on defense---and how very well that strategy has paid off. Save for the costly hiccup by Dunn a week or so ago they've both been excellent w/the glove, and the Brewers aren't going to make a move that sacrifices that.
