  1. Now that Matt Adams is out for an extended timeframe (3-4 months) it makes 100% sense to propose an Adam Lind to the Cards trade. Taking off the Brewers tinted glasses that are clouded with hatred for the Cardinals what would you guys think would be a fair deal? Adam Lind to St. Louis for Luke Weaver? Adam Lind to St. Louis for Rob Kaminsky? Is that too "pie in the sky"? Rip away...
  2. There would be no conceivable reason to have to pony up the money on this deal. They are looking for an asset for another pennant race. They will pay (and pay handsomely) to make sure they are the ones that get the asset. Ramirez would make a great addition to any team that is struggling at third base and has playoff aspirations. It should, honestly, be a bidding war for his services. Hefty contracts are attached to players that are actually pretty good. That is the cost of doing business... Just my $.02
  3. Ladies and gentlemen: Clint (Freaking) Coulter. That video and Hot Sheet reference came before his 4-5, HR, 3 RBI, 3R game yesterday. Season to date: AVG .338 OBP .434 SLG .708 OPS 1.142 I'm starting to think that the offensive future for the Brewers is getting brighter by the day with Coulter, Arcia, Taylor and even Roache (big improvement this year)...
  4. He is not even that bad in the OF. I would say slightly below average and I am not that big of a fan of his defense. Someone not around for Carlos Lee's time in LF? I was around for Carlos Lee's tenure and he too was brutal. That seems to be a Brewers MO for some reason The reason that I find his defense to be inexcusable is the fact that baserunners can run wild on that noodle-arm. Singles becoming doubles kill pitchers' abilities to stay out of the big innings and knowing that a runner will score from 2nd without even a throw has to be demoralizing for a pitcher. Scenario: Single turned in to double because of Davis's defense. Another single to LF...run scores. With a semi-capable LF'er and there's a runner on 1st and 2nd and the pitcher still has a chance for a clean inning. Not with Davis in LF... Also, he is 100% independent from Garza and Reynolds (who by the way isn't even on the team any more). I was talking LF...not infield or total team defense.
  5. Sorry, I'm not kidding at all. I see Davis as the type of bat that kills offenses and defenses. He's possibly the most brutal outfielder that I've ever seen and his boom or bust approach at the plat annoys the hell out of me. Just my opinion though...
  6. I'd take him in LF every day of the week and twice on Sunday. No. Questions. Asked.
  7. Another fun fact...that is the hotel that my wife and I had our wedding reception at 13 GLORIOUS years ago. Anyway, it is really nice as a family place...
  8. It seems, to me at least, that there is probably a near endless supply of Nate Wolters-like players floating around the NBA and D-League. The Bucks are short on big bodies and needed to add one. Not a huge loss/addition IMO...
  9. This is where I fall in...100%. There are moves that **could** be made. It seems like Doug is the type that fears the possibility of ticking off a guy or two by making a trade...even if it makes sense for the team. YoGa and Parra could (and probably should) be traded for young, controlled players but we can all dang near guarantee that they will be on the roster for opening day. #UghFrustrating is probably going to be my new #Brewers hashtag on twitter.
  10. Has www.FireDarnellColes.com been claimed yet?
  11. Better than "pretty good"...I'm so glad that he has been able to get things turned around. Both on AND off of the field.
  12. Chase Headley and Pablo Sandoval are both among the 3B free agent crop. Add one of them, move Ramirez to 1B? Edit: also - can I now start a First Base 2015 thread?
  13. I'm with you TLB. When is the last time the Brewers had this legitimate of a shot to go deep into the playoffs? They really did need to make a move to solidify 1B. Sitting back with what you have only gets you so far...
  14. Thanks for the replies! I actually work with a whole group of neurologists and my tackle football opinion is pretty well informed and not moving. As for other sports, he does play basketball in the winter and is planning on joining either cross country or track in the fall while also playing fall ball. I do worry about burnout so I'm thinking that the glove/bats need to be given a rest for the basketball season. I think the biggest thing that my wife and I are trying to accomplish is that he succeeds at whatever he wants. Neither of us had the means to do the traveling sports teams while growing up. Now that we can swing it we want to give him that option. Thanks again for the replies!
  15. I would think that having Lucroy and Maldonado at the MLB level, plus having an organizational need at both 1b and 3b would be more likely reasons to move Coulter...just my opinion though.
  16. Thanks for the replies guys! We actually live in the Fox Valley so we are probably going to be utilizing the staff at Players Choice in Appleton. My son is already in the category of "baseball junkie" as he spends all of his non-practice or game time either watching baseball or trying to find a way to play more baseball. He's also starting to dabble with some very light weight training with my wife's bands. On the topic of playing with other teams...it's interesting. I asked him about a week ago if he would like to play on some other local or traveling teams and he said yes...as long as a couple of his buddies did as well. I'm probably going to have to sit him down and have a good dad/son talk because, like you mentioned Patrick and stout, he needs to be in on the process to see exactly what he does and doesn't want to do. I'm not going to be that dad that commands/directs his playing choices. That said, my wife and I have already agreed that we want to give him every chance to succeed in sports as neither of us was afforded that during our childhood. The only hard rule that we have decided in our house is that he will not play tackle football until high school due to the concussion risk...the rest is up to him. I'll keep this thread going this summer when we figure out what his path will be...
  17. Hey all, I am the proud father of an 8 y/o son that is absolutely crushing the ball already. His hitting ability looks to be about 2-4 years ahead of the rest of the kids in his traveling league and has caused a stir at a couple of our spring scrimages. At what point do parents help the maturation process along in terms of training and coaching? I'm currently one of his coaches but I am far from what I think he really needs. We are considering a move to have him playing with either the 10u or 11u local teams but don't know if that is the right path either since those are just "dad coaches" as well. Has anyone here pursued a path like this before? Thanks for any help... Hammer
  18. The Bob Nelson dive sack is immortal!!! Also, Christian Okoye, Barry Word and Stephon Paige made the Chiefs offense AMAZING as well
  19. It looks like this weekend will have some "fun" weather
  20. The forecast looks to have a brutal cold and windy front moving in for Deer Hunt 2013 opening weekend. #InsertManySwearWordsHere
  21. Updated router question: I know that routers have been discussed before but what are the current recommendations for wireless routers? I do mainly email and social media with a splash of PS3 COD play. We have 3 computers, 2 iPhones, an iPad and 2 iPods connected at all times. My 7 y/o Belkin just can't handle it all anymore. Charter 30 mb connection... Thanks Tech-o-Wienies!!
  22. This screams "Watch NCAA Basketball Instead" to me. This team, even with the retreads playing, is going to be really bad. Hopefully anyone not named Henson, Freak and Sanders (and maybe Knight) is on the trading block at the deadline...
  23. IMO this team needs pitching, pitching and more pitching. You can never have enough of that commodity.
  24. I'm with jerichoholic - Roache looks to have it in him to have that season. Also - while his numbers don't scream at you it is essential to remember that Tyrone Taylor is playing in A ball at the tender age of 19. His skill-set lends to a possible All-Star season, IMO.
